Just finished history time and I wanted to add that there's a legend where, just after Rodrigo died in battle against the Almoravid and they were about to attack again, Jimena mounted his corpse in El Cid's horse and had it charge the horde with the rest of the Valencian cavalry, and when the Almoravhid's saw "him" from afar, they thought he had come back from the dead and retreated in terror

It’s taking me a few days to gather the free time to watch this video, but I’m very glad this is the full game without jumping and cutting (large?) parts. As a newer CK3 player with minimal time in CK2 it really helps. I would absolutely love an episode(s)after the full campaign where you jump through the episode to show the larger strategies used like dynasty/marriage, traits and fascinations. I think I could learn a lot :)

EL CID is the greatest knight in history. His name was Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar alias "El Campeador". He was a genius in the battlefield and the Moors in Spain called him "El Cid" meaning (The Master), as they feared and admired him. El Cid was a noble of Castille directly connected to the Castillian aristocracy and for that reason he was brought up in the castle and court of King Ferdinand I.

Started with Flanders and Duke Baldwin, which is on my channel, we became friends with El Cid, he died in his 30s by an old lady who apparently stabbed him in Barcelona. I was heartbroken because we almost had him friendly enough to join us. Later down the road, great-great granddaughter was a beneficiary of a Crusade in Southern Iberia, she died after having a threesome with two local soldiers and with 4% chance of death from milk of the poppy, she died trying to abrupt the pregnancy, That was my ironman run which was mostly stressful lol. Next up, I am playing Constantin in Alba, see if we can hold back Ivar The Boneless

Honestly I don’t get how people play without Ironman, for me I can’t play without it, I want my decisions to have meaning, once I make my choice I stick with it and deal with the consequences. At least that’s my preferred way of playing anyway haha!

Some people don´t have a lot of free time and so don´t feel like risking their fun campaign getting ruined by some terrible random stuff happening and basically throwing hours out the window. Some people like playing with mods witch disables ironman. In the end not playing ironman doesn´t stop you from never reloading a save, its all personal prefernce and personal circumstances and bashing people for that is a bit silly imo :)

@@Tyrgalon Yeah I never bashed anyone, I said it was my preferred method of playing the game thats all... And I disagree, that terrible stuff happening is very much part of the game experience, trying to recover from the bad is for me anyway a core mechanic. It shouldnt just be rainbows and pots of gold everywhere you look and taking that aspect out removes a huge chunk of the game in my opinion, because those events exist for a reason. Again, just my personal preference is all, no bashing it was just a case of "oh look a youtuber who actually does ironman this is a first I'd like to leave a comment on why I prefer playing ironman", exact same with my reply on why I think you should still play ironman. End of the day mate its your game, play it your way. Doesnt mean I have to agree :P Just like you dont agree with me :P and certainly doesnt make me silly. Just means I have a different viewpoint. (sorry late reply i never comment on anything I didnt even notice the notification lol)

@@benjiboyx Of course bad stuff happening is a big part of CK2/3, but if you are really strapped on time and something just completely nukes your game it can just completely ruin all your fun and waste all of the limited time you migth have had. For some people the limited free/gaming time they have can be almost all the fun they ever have in a day sadly, having that suddenly taken from you by RNG can be pretty rough. Personally im pretty busy, and while I still get to game a decent amount, I have sooo many things I want to do and games I want to play that I can´t be bothered to risk getting completely screwed by RNG or the save breaking or something. I don´t really care for achievemnts either, its all about having fun while keeping cheating to a minimum (or for roleplay reasons). And no worries I don´t pay a lot of attention to notifications either :)

The battle is called Maerakat Alzalaqa. Arabic can be confusing. A word on its own is written and said differently than when in a sentence. So Slippery is Zalaq and Battle is maeraka. Even that isn't completely right as its difficult to accurately write arabic using the english alphabet. Also, Ramadan goes backwards roughly 10 days each calendar year (Gregorian calendar). If it was winter for them they would have fasted for less time, since sunset or would be earlier And fajr (which is when we start fasting) is always a few hours before sunset, but would still have been later in the night. Although in a siege situation im pretty sure it would have been mentally and physically exhausting regardless of how long they fasted for. Anyway thanks for the history lesson. Very interesting.

Love these videos. Few things. Where are you streaming I followed you on twitch but it said you haven’t streamed for a month. One thing to improve is watching on KZfaq I can’t read the chat so many times your chat would say something and you would say “great point” or something but I don’t know what you are talking about. Would you consider doing a campaign for absolute beginners where you explain your thought process on each decision and priority? There are times I feel absolutely lost. Thanks

De jure with the Y sound (or iu sound) is from Classical Latin. The J sound came much later when the J sound was recognized as its own distinct sound. Both are still used in legalese because some decide Classical Latin is the correct pronunciation for Latin legal terms

I enjoy it that you read into the history. Similar kind of player so subscribed. You calling in France (1h25m) for 350 prestige to fight a duchy with barely any troops while you got a sick general was painful to watch though. Unnecessary unless they bring a shitload of other allies in.

Iberian peninsula is a great place to start, because no matter who you start as you can wage holy wars for duchies pretty fast and take over your own religion's lands with claims, continue by conquering Northern Africa, France, HRE, Byzantium, basically restoring the Roman Empire. I like Leon the best, but the rest are interesting as well. When you retake the spanish kingdoms, unite them so they arent split up. And I moved my capital to Toledo or Cordoba for massive boost. You can research techs very fast with Cordoba/Toledo and putting your Steward there. Convert your Andalusian vassals to Castillian culture by educating their heirs, and soon enough you have an average county development of 30+, which helps massively. Around 1270 I think I had all base techs researched.

Just started video now gonna watch as i fall asleep but hope next campaign is a viking one, i just started one yesterday that's like pretty heavy north east. Had some set backs with heir's and losing land to family but can say atm i have so much land xD. Think i have around 10k worth of levi's and like 900 archers and 600 spearmen but on iron mode best ive everdone, its a lot of fun but god tribal is rough af lol.

Ending up finding the kingdom of Yugara, tho atm I have about 7 kingdoms which is honestly hard to manage and revolts non stop lol. Not sure if that person actually existed or not but name was Arti, cause when I checked my family tree it says king Arti of Yugara tho he was just like a high chiefdom when I started

So when you take over another kingdom. That will become part of yours I understand that.... But when your character dies and your successor takes over. Will they take over The whole kingdom or will the kingdom be split in two again like it was originally spreading out the titles like it would if you were a duke, unless you become an empire?

It is quite easy to use some console commands, or even easier, the cheatmenu mods out there. To start as the ruler of the court he's in, and simply give him a small county title and his independence and switch character to him. That way you can have him landed in a small underdog position before you're even a day into your playthrough. Actually, I don't even believe you would need to use a cheat menu for this. Except if you wanted to not use your own titles or a different location.

In Ironman mode with mods yes, but Achievements will be off. I don't think you can switch to a different ruler in CK3, at least I never tried and never granted independence to any to try (like in EU4).

You not revoking the land immediatly after you won that faction war was really fustrating your focus to much on control when its such an easy thing to raise. You as the king should want as much land as you can hold directly.

You can't :( the only way to do it is to start as someone else.. Land him then switch to him. I wanted to play Ironman for the achievements

I'm at 43:14 so I have no idea if this was answered later in the stream. CK3 saves when you alt+f4 BUT if you get an event like say your child dies, don't pick any option, alt+tab out and force close with task manager to avoid the automatic save. I haven't played in a while, but iirc it also works if you pause, though sometimes it will reload at an unfortunate time, like when you can't avoid a fight you save scummed to try to avoid...

Man, I see in the USA "BarZelona" spelling is a current joke. FYI Barcelona is the capital city of Catalonia, home of the national minority of Catalans. In Catalan language, Barcelona is spelled almost like in English. Just feel free to spell it your own way.

So, this game is cool until your first guy dies, and your entire kingdom is partitioned down and all you're left with is a kingdom title, but no county or douchy ... I don't understand the incentive of expansion in this game when you're always getting boned out of your shit.
