Amazing work Vinz! The birchbark handles are such an iconic product. Jonas has really made it his own and the Birch & Bevel brand really wouldn’t have developed into what it is without this handle design 👌🏻

Are you leaving the dowel glued in with the stack, drilling through the dowel.

I make Sami style puukko's alot of times. and use Birch bark stacks many times in combination of north deer antler. I Love the dowel trick. I will need to try that sometime. Great video.

cool handle and video, been trying to collect birch bark to try it out myself but not found enough yet, not so many birch trees where I live, you can also make a sheath from birch bark which looks an interesting process as well

Wonder if you could do that with cork

Great video!! That handle looks great. I’m very concerned about the drilling process, looks like it would be pretty difficult with what tools I have available. Could the portions of birch bark or cork for that matter be pressed onto a 15mm brass tube allowing a perfectly centered hole for the tang to go thru? Thanks for give it us all these videos, they are always interesting and helpful.

Back 15ish years ago I used to build high end fishing rods. We used Birch bark for some handles then. Not sure why I never thought to use them on a knife...

Very cool! thanks for sharing! Can we get a tutorial on no-solder guard fitting for ABS style hunting knives/bowies? I've done it a few different ways, and I'm not happy with the process of any of them haha. There's plenty of awesome ways to do it if you don't care about your hand-sanding patterns haha. It's just very impractical and time consuming, and there has to be a better way. I'd love to see your take on it.

Can any one tell me best steel to buy for beginning to forge blades available in uk please...?
@UKBladeshow
@UKBladeshow 11 ай бұрын
Hi! There are lots of good steel for beginners but for forging, 1084 or 80CVR2 seems to be a great all-rounder, and easy to heat treat too. There’s lots of good places to buy them from like GFS, Barmond and many others.
