good video as always but next time think of smartphones or small screen devices and use a zoom tool because i couldn't see ip 's on your packet tracer lab .... ty dude.. keep on making us good vids..
@NGTAcademy6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment and suggestion :) I'll heed your advice for future youtube productions for sure. In our training program we do zoom during labs that occur inside presentations. Makes even more sense to do that here since many folks browse youtube from their phones!

What about using tracert. I would have loved to see how it behaves in this scenario.

would their not be scenarios where icmp is blocked as a security control and instead you would use traceroute to find the all the devices that the trace hops through
@fgrion6 жыл бұрын
i have initially thought the same about using tracert and yes, faster than half split. About blocked ICMP, I guess if that's the case the technicians are aware of that and even if they are not, they would notice that it fails from every angle :)
@imlo27386 жыл бұрын
Yup, tracert -d is your friend in these situations. No need to necessarily split the problem in half (although if you can't figure it out from a tracert it's still a good idea). Also, yeah, be aware that many devices are configured to block ICMP packets.

How is this approach better than just using the traceroute (tracert) command?

cool thanks

I'm glad to know about this method now but i'm still confused about how router 2 was pinged from A no problem, but router 2 failed to connect with 3 from B side. How is that router "off" if it was able to be pinged from one end? I hope the question was clear
@nunyabidness98954 жыл бұрын
It comes into that router from the A direction on a different port than it uses to xmit towards the Z end.
@nunyabidness98954 жыл бұрын
So it's just the port facing the B router (or the Z end of the circuit) that was "off", not the whole router.

sir, Mr Hess on the interface i also saw switches configured with ip address let assume that we don't accutally know where the problem lies does it mean we should test all the interfaces?, before finally figuring out between which nodes the problem lies
