Күн бұрынOne of the worst feelings in the world for a Streamer is seeing your view count drop while you’re live, even worse though is when you’re a brand new streamer and you see that 0 click up to a 1…. And then drop back down to 0 moments later.
We’ve all been there, it sucks!
The truth is growing on Twitch is difficult, and people give a lot of different advice so today I am going to give you tips to grow your viewers, and to keep them watching your stream!
These tips work for people with 0 viewers and can be used to grow on Twitch, I'll be talking about:

How To Choose a game for Twitch Growth
Personally, I think too many people rely on looking at the top games by viewers on Twitch to pick what they play, because I think there is a much better number.
Category Followers. These are the people who have hit follow on a category or game, and if someone has done that they are pretty much going to get recommended on their homepage that category. They’ll also get recommended other categories they like watching, but you can’t see that number.
An example, Stardew Valley a game I got a lot of growth in when I started, took me from 10 avg to 20 avg, has 798,000 followers, an incredibly active community who love it religiously, it still gets updates, has npc’s that are chatty so it's good for smaller streamers with less twitch chat to respond to, but it only averages at 500 - 800 total viewers and you only need 5 viewers to appear in the top 3 rows.
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

On Slobs it tells me the average view time, in 1 week I've increased it from 12 to 14 minutes in a week. With more work I'll get that to hours!

Hi i am having a crisis in this I stream retro games MMOS and ps4 games too and ps4. I now don't know if i'm doing something bad because i enjoy all those types of content so much that i feel so strongly i don't know if i could say no to that.The one thing i get is for instance odintv gaming who is also a streamer is a streamer of fortnite primarily and his viewers know that. I lately admit haven't been following these tips as much as i probably should i been streaming 6 hours a day for 7 days a week and been at the bottom with no goal just stream for 6 hours and what happens happens with not much thought. It's been pretty bad where i fail even on dura which is a MMO and usually MMO are hit days but been shit days. I have been ignoring the numbers on days where i play equinox and if i enjoy the game i keep playing if i don't i stop because my rule was i have to be happy about what i'm doing otherwise i should probably not do that as its just going to hurt me. I have a major issue because i play 2 different MMOS a lot of retro and also modern day stuff and sometimes people try to coax me to play things like cod that i'm really REALLY not into. There are certain things i know i don't want to do such as cod modern warfare 2 etc etc and fornite. I played fornite but i wasn't into it and not really motivated.

I’d like a community that comes to hang out, chit chat, play some games, joke around and escape the world for a little while. I always watch streamers to escape for a little while so would like to think that my chaotic cosy little stream could be that place for someone else. Happy for them to chat or lurk whatever best for them. My audience like a bit of variety, they want to just chill and watch some gameplay and forget the world. I think streamers like me would be Rumbledust or NoHistoryGaming people who are community focused and just create that space for viewers to relax, escape, chill, chat or lurk. I think I’m already heading that way, I’m only on my 8th stream and my community have been saying I should do a horror charity stream as they’ve realised I’m terrified of horror and mentioned a goal of mine was to do a charity stream. I’ve only been streaming for two weeks but I think I’m already working towards this with each stream. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and videos like this has been helping me so much.

• I want people alike myself to watch 13-18+ yrs - active - immersed - i want them to feel comfortable • streamers like kai, silky, have viewers I aspire to have . They react, listen to music, and play games • what makes me special is that I choose to be authentic and actually would love to become personal with my viewers

I think the "what makes me special" part might need something extra as well, everyone is trying to be authentic but we need to think about what is going to make them click you over the person next to you. I have nothing sassy to say, these are good reminders! I paused with a pen and paper throughout! One of my favourite tips I got on KZfaq was that just because you have a target audience, doesn't mean other types of people won't overlap with that and still be interested. That said, my audience has shifted from when I first started creating content, from late teens to early twenties aspiring to create, now to mid-twenties to early thirties, fellow creative folks working on their passion projects. Thanks again for the video - it's given me ideas for what to focus on this month! I'm close to my next emote slot, so I might gift a sub if I lose in the next community stream my server voted for.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your final point. Many of the people who are successful without doing these things have either been on the platform for an incredibly long time or built up an audience for themselves on another platform. Many of the things you mention here aren't just things that will HELP you build a channel from scratch, they're a borderline NECESSITY. In terms of my desired audience: -Constantly engaged from the beginning to the end of stream -Actively chatting with me and the rest of chat -Enjoying my content so much that they'll trust me to entertain them with whatever I do

I should’ve mentioned the age rule as well! I always have people reference creators as reasons a tip won’t work or is wrong… but the creators tend to have been creating content for 5 - 6 years! You have a few ideas about what activity you want from your audience, now to figure out what games/hobbies they enjoy, and how you’ll appeal to them or have them discover you! Keep it up, Markii! :)

I'm a new streamer but it kinda baffles me that people don't put thought into who their target audience is. As a Vtuber my target audience didn't stop at influencing the content i created but my character design as well. Thanks so much for making these videos i really appreciate the thoughtful questions you ask that make me reevaluate my content to see if i am doing this already of if i need a slight adjustment.

I think it is important to remember that marketing and general content creation looks so different from the outside. It just looks like someone sat there gaming or chatting, which seems so... easy? But you're right it is incredibly complex, and difficult!

Sassy! Definitely good questions, I would need more time to answer these! For me, I would love to have an audience that enjoys interaction, I adore interacting with people and I tend to talk alot because I love sharing whatever knowledge I have on the game itself and even topics that were brought up during the stream. I tend to put what the aim/goal of the stream in my title! 💖 It is also helpful for me track my progress in the story as well and time management.

Aim for a audience of: •members that appreciate analytical commentary and gameplay •curious thinkers with open minds •peaceful and unifying members supporting and helping each other •people wanting a place to get away and get some wisdom, hope and people advice. ••A place where they have me to talk to if they really need someone to listen to them and understand them. Or constructive/unbiased feedback. That’s all that matters to me for now til I’m ready to upgrade myself, my setup and stream. Sassy

I'd want people who watch me to be really wholesome, welcoming to new viewers and active on chat, tho i don't mind them lurking when they're busy because its a huge thing for a smoll streamer that they're lurking on your stream while they're busy doing their work and i'd appreciate it so much!! i watch your videos when im free and every video i watch encourages me to do more and make better content for the people that already watch me and i thank you so much for that! you helped me take my first step by your vids just like you did so to i bet more than hunder thousands of people!! so thank you so much for making such content to help us smoll streamers out!!!

I want an audience that engages with me and responds to my questions, or input on different subjects, subsequently answering deep questions in between hardcore competitive content.

Took a few days to think about it but I think I got my answer here (was going to break it down to 4 person but didnt have the time): Target Audience demography: 20-30s young adults who live in either Australia, SE Asia, or East Asia. Their interest will consist of some or one: Travel, video games, tech, movies, anime, playing or consuming music Their worries: Work pressure, social status, environmental concerns, their future. Their Interest: Wanna to chill out after work or school, learn some new tips and tricks of their game they're into, some social interaction when they cant meet their friends on a weekday, be interested in learning some cool historical event they might not heard of, discovering fun facts or discussing of interesting trivia topics What value I can give them: Entertain them by being bad in some games and making dumb jokes, make funny tutorial videos on KZfaq, share my travel stories and history of the countries I learned, share some interesting topic I just researched or listened to a podcast for, play chilled or lofi music in the background, stories on my life experiences and advise

Sassy. This is a really great video explaining how you need to alter your perception of your own content. It's like 'Yeah, do content you enjoy and are having fun with, who cares about what your viewers think." However, overall, if you are looking to make it a career, you need to think about your consumer and how they perceive your content against their needs.

Content creation takes work, dedication and time. I'm a very positive content creator and I want to say I believe in you but if YOU don't believe in yourself first then how do you expect others to come and believe in you.

I stream the sims, and its kind of split three ways: those who pop into streams and lurk as they are doing their own gameplay, those who watch for chaos, and those who could go either way depending on their mood (we simmers can be a weird bunch). I have a Chaos Wheel that viewers can redeem every fifteen minutes. It contains actions that will make things a bit more difficult, such as having my sim adopt a pet, lowering one of their skills a level, cutting their household funds in half, amongst others. I mention the wheel in my stream title, but I need to figure out a way to make myself standout more.

Hey man! So ice created every single thing on the channel myself. Working on my stream 24/7.. ive gotten 70 followers and 28 subs within the last couple of days. And before that it was going really slow so overall im pretty satisfied but being me i have to upgrade almost every time for myself and do things like adding a counter. Ive been stuck with this for 2 days now and i was wondering maybe you have a good explanation video for it!? Love to see that since you are spot on and more experienced! Thanks for any response in advance! Oh and almost forgot to say but this video is also very spot on alot of the things i honestly figured out or was kinda doing already but its always good to see some similar thinking of somebody with alot more experience! 1. Audience mid/late 20's up to late 30's. Engaged in chat dont mind shy lurkers. 2. Audence that enjoys casual gameplay, but also like a thrill of a pre-set challenge. They enjoy, FPS, 3rd person adventure/shooter games. 3. Who has an audience like that? not sure, watched your Minecraft stream where U talked about P plate driver and ... elec bike, youre good man, your chat was 🔥 I like your ideas, Ive been making notes and matching stuff to it. but what you were saying about a list of people you wanna pertain to, ive been trying to think of that for literally months but the best i can come up with is i want people like me that just wanna know.... nothing specific in particular, but channels like modern rogue and the king of random i love those because they teach so mayn different things that just blow your mind without it needing to be in front of a chalkboard during a lecture. i want to be that person that everybody goes, "this guy has shown me so many things that i actually learned and love, not just went "cool" and forgot about it the next day and hes fun to interact with too"

I want a chill chat that's active, engaged, doesn't take themselves too seriously, and easy to joke around with. I love it when I get to crack jokes about my gameplay or something goofy happening in the game and having someone in chat making one of their own. We end up bouncing jokes off each other and its such a fun time.

My biggest thing when it comes to my streams is i try to never stop talking, i want people to stay engaged and to keep hearing me because that's who they're here for (right?) Lmaoooo but i love these videos and that's why i subscribed, hopefully I'll create my own community soon as well and share my experiences with everyone (as well as building the youtube channel)

A lightbulb went on for me when you said 'understand your viewers'. My niche is horror games but I always try to play down my reactions to jump scares because I don't want to look stupid, which is stupid because they are watching me to see me get jump scared *facepalm*. These are some really interesting points you brought up, and some of them I can't even answer for myself, which is GOOD because I have some thinking and planning to do! Why should people stay? What makes my streams special? I literally have no idea! I'm surprised with how little I can critically think about my streams, that I somehow have 15-20 average viewers and an established demographic I intend on keeping (25 - 40+ years). BUT, I believe once I can start planning out content and be able to answer these questions - I should be able to grow more, which would be great. I've waffled a bit with content and that hurt my numbers - but I fully intend on coming back to focus on retro gaming because that category has a good pocket of like-minded, chill people like myself. Anyway, thanks for all of your videos - they have been an immense help.

Wellp, I'm a Brazilian streamer, we are the "country of the memes", and what I want is people who laughs of my dumb jokes (they are really bad). I'm very bad at every single game, so my slogan is: "So much fun, so poor gameplay", and that's true. I've been streaming for a month now and just reached the 5 viewers avg, IDK how to keep growing but I'm trying to learn with your videos, thanks "É o Jay" (that's how I call you)

My answers: -I want an audience like RTGame's. A good, inviting and accepting community that enjoys sticking around, and discovering new games. Whether they lurk or not doesn't matter too much. -The majority of my audience tends to watch Friday Night Funkin'. Some of them do come back for other games, which is nice to see. -Again, RTGame has an audience that I love, and I'm hoping to have a similar audience. He makes a lot of well-placed jokes and holds community events. He also has moderators to stop the toxic trolls. Edit: Sassy

My Audience Goals: (Been Streaming since 2016 / 2017 playing mecha games) - Playing games to a casual non hardcore audience - Using mech builds (or teams) that are not the cream of the crop - Having fun using while using underwhelming characters or builds in game (win or lose!) - Ultimate goal is branch to games that have some RPG fantasy elements as well. Trying that now in Genshin Impact.

It's interesting, I've always thought of Mech Gamers to be fairly hardcore gamers with min maxing, and a lot of strategy but I think that's because I just suck at BattleTech hahaha Keep working on finding that audience, figuring out what they want, and how they'll find you! Lol sassy. I had my first stream last night and nicknamed a character sassy. Your videos are pure gold and helped me go into my first stream feeling confident. My audience is women 30-40 who enjoy casual gaming (think Stardew), like reading, and crafting. They just want a relaxing night to hangout, lurk, and maybe knit while they watch and listen. This is me as well so I choose a game that fits this and has good visibility. I’m having fun and know my target audience will too.

your videos are always so helpful. I have a mix of younger and older viewers, usually its people that want to play games with me and that's amazing. I do giveaways on games like adopt me they seem to really like that. They love killing me on ROBLOX shooters to which is also great fun for all of us. They love that I let them pick games we play :) I want to incorporate a game when the lol hits like group tetris or something equally as fun. All my streams are usually family friendly I always remind my viewers that younger viewers may be watching so use appropriate language. When i play more mature games i try to do it at a later time so that my younger viewers aren't upset that they cant watch. Most of the people that watch are new friends and some old friends. I welcome every member like you said and ask about their days, the most important bit is i remember them and try to recall what they've said previously so that they feel connected and to know they are important. I always give appreciation to everyone. I have a hard time setting goals but I'm going to work on it. I met some amazing streamers on twitch before i started streaming and most of them play similar games to myself. Only their age ranges are more mature than mine usually with exceptions. Sorry for the essay.

I want other rocket league players who are about my same skill level, but could be any rank. I want them to be 14-20 and I want them to watch laid back streams of rocket league that they can interact with the streamer in. They are already watching people like spoodah, drewski, and Rizzo because they are very good at the game. What sets me apart is I am a very fast learning player and I think I could go pro by the time I get to college. Another thing that sets me apart is that I’m a child, and I have a very deep passion for streaming while everyone else is an adult doing something for money on the side.

Sassy! I only just started streaming (only 13 followers, and I can still count on my fingers the number of times I've been live lol) but your videos have helped a lot! I'm not trying to "make it big" as a streamer -- I have no intention of ever trying to turn it into my primary job, or even make Partner for that matter (though I would like to get to Affiliate, mostly for the community-building tools/perks that come with it) -- but that being said I still want to make my streams the best they can be for my community, so I really appreciate all useful info from this channel! As for my target audience... When I watch other streamers I'm always the most engaged when there's some form of on-going story (e.g. the more immersive world-building games, or RPGs with a heavier focus on the roleplay aspects & interactions). I get pulled into the lore super easily, and then I end up never wanting to miss a stream because I feel invested in the tale and the "characters". That's mostly how I game, too. My favorites games are always the ones that let me sort of lose myself in another world for a while, so my ideal audience would be one that's eager to delve into that story with me and talk about it, while also having fun discovering what sorts of weird/interesting things we can do in this world, and occasionally getting side-tracked exploring stuff just because we can lol. (Why yes Skyrim is a favorite of mine, however did you guess? 😂) I can definitely see now why you said to write that down -- just the writing it part really helped! what about some paradoxes like, what if I'm trying to improve in the game but my viewers want me to stay bad? or what if I want to create more interactions with people that my viewers tend to change/leave when there's new people? or times when you get viewers that only want to talk to you about what they want, but never acknowledges any one else in the chat? it becomes tough to balance putting out your niche content and making your niche demographic happy. are there any thoughts you have pertaining to a chat that starts telling you how to "dance for them"?

Ideal viewers - 18+ wanting to relax while also pushing themselves to be better player, - active in chat (although lurking to relax is also amazing) - wanting company or to make friends Streamers I look up to - Preachlfw/TaliesinAndEvitel (from a pure gaming channel point of view) - Eljayem_ (Love learning new things and want to cultivate something similar) My unique selling point? - I'm an autistic numpty that wants to make friends with everyone/learn new things and share that with others? -- Really need to work on this bit haha! I got affiliate by just jumping into streaming not knowing what im doing and learning along with my audience. I'm not a very organized person so thats just how i do things. I do really enjoy streaming and I will definitely try to incorporate some of your ideas because you know a lot more about streaming than I do and because my audience expects be to be a bit more professional now that ive gotten affiliate. I want to be the Belgian version of the Karp crew in League of legends. Which means that me and my friends all suck at the game and do stupid things without trying to do so and that is quite entertaining for people I think. Yesterday, we played with someone that I've met on LoL, but he didn't know any of us. He had a blast while playing with us because we did stupid stuff, didn't take ourselves too seriously and just wanted to have fun and that is how I want my viewers to feel when they join the chat.

I used to stream a couple years ago and then life got extremely busy and had to step away. Have been thinking of getting back into it so have been doing more and more research on how to do it right this time around and for the right reasons. So i appreciate all you do and have saved many of these to a personal folder to go back and watch over and over again. keep up the good work!

Oof, I feel triggered by the first 10 seconds of this video XD But as always, another helpful video. I've since bought a big notepad to note everything you've mentioned. Though I'm still trying to get to the goals/stakes/payoffs, I at least was able to figure the type of people that I want to watch and WHAT they like to watch. After my stream tonight, I've realized that apparently I get a LOT more viewers when I play games HORRIBLY lmao so moving on from here now I can ACTUALLY start to come up with a game plan. It's crazy that such a small step like that could actually start to get the ball rolling. Thank you as always!! I would say, people who enjoy who I am. Something I noticed with my viewers I have regulars, and most of the time as its late for me but not for them, they just quickly write a hello message and say they putting me on, in the background while working And I am honestly always honored when someone says that, because for me, that means they enjoy myself enough to have me there. I also noticed more people seem to be active during my art streams, as I can more talk about something else, without losing focus on the game. But most people don´t mind it.

Great video again, I'm so glad I subscribed! I LOVE that your tips are actually applicable and actionable. • target audience: people around my age (20's), artists/art community, casual gamers, anime fans/vtubers, people who follow my art already • stream type: mostly chill streams, mix of entertainment (games) and education (art) • big streamers: Vtubers such as Ina, ChaiKitsu • why click?: trying fun titles, appealing overlay that shows my stream vibes • why stay?: channel point free art reward, small community w/ lots of interaction, milestones for stream enhancements/regular upgrades, interactive commands w/ mascots, chill vibes for winding down after long days Adding hurdles to your title really helps, I did a "Aiming for Top5 in Tetris99" stream which performed ~20% better than other streams. People even stayed after my 5th connection crash. And I want to work on crossposting on KZfaq, but for now I have to put a few more weeks of work into my stream setup!

And having the privilege to design my own overlay and emotes as an artist really helps to keep the streams fresh. Been bingewatching your tutorials, you help a lot with motivation and I felt inclined to comment after you said some people might call it comment-baiting! More people should watch your stuff honestly ♡
