I'm Steph, wife of John & mom of 4 living on a 5th generation homestead. My husband's great-grandparents bought this farm in rural Missouri in 1942. My husband was supposed to take the farm over after high school - but he decided to go a different direction and moved out on his own. At that time he said he'd never get married or have kids. But here we are - 4 kids later and back on the farm. I grew up in town - so farm life has been a new adventure for me and I absolutely love it. I'm learning as I go and opting out of as many broken systems as I can along the way. We've lived here almost five years now, we homeschool our kids here, raise and grow more of our own food all the time, and our last baby was even born here on the farm - my first home birth. Learn with me as I share glimpses into our life on the farm.

I always think of people 200/300 years ago and the house literally revolved around food prep. I sometimes feel like I spend all day making food and cleaning up food and storing food and planning food but then I remember it keeps us alive 🤣🤣 We live in CA and prices literally rise by the week and it’s getting impossible not to justify buying in bulk!

I just discovered your channel and I just want to say thank you so much for doing what you are doing. I know virtually nothing about homesteading but I feel as though I’m being called to this lifestyle the more I grow with God. I’m a new mom and the desire to take care of my family and be prepared like the woman in proverbs is growing every day. But with having zero experience or knowledge of what to do and how to do it when it’s completely opposite to everything I know makes it feel scary and overwhelming. But finding your channel so randomly feels like an answered prayer, Thank you thank you thank you.

Hi Steph. I have recently come upon your channel and I really like it! I am concerned about the food situation and have wanted to start my own stash. This video is excellent. I have seen other videos talk about using mylar bags, but no one has shown how to use them. Thank you so much. I think it became so easy for most of us not to worry about saving food as our ancestors did because of what our governments have done making our food with preservatives in them. Definitely not a good thing for our bodies.

Thank you so much for this. I just saw this aired in 2024 and looking forward to getting started. I started really thinking about storing food long term given our poor country's current state of inflation and overall mess!! Thanks for being such a good teacher and sharing all your tried and true methods. I trust this will be worth the time and investment and plan to have a stash for all my kids too! I can't thank you enough!

I wouldn't waste money on those expensive food prep kits. Just buy canned goods. They last forever. Don't worry about the dates. You can also buy bags of rice and beans. A can a day per person is enough to survive on. You can go days without food too. You could eat every other day and be fine. Water is more important. Make sure you have access to clean water whatever that would take. Having a well or creek would help.

Dry can your rice....super important as all grains have larvae in it. When buying salt, you need unrefined and unfiltered Himalayan salt. You need the trace minerals and pink salt has 84 essential minerals. You need lots of salt and everyone never thinks about it. Everyone needs to get chlorine dioxide to purify their water and stock up on Ivermectin and Fenbendazole.

This could be a reeeeeally dumb question because i havent done much research BUT for a really cheap option, could i line a 5gal bucket with a black trash bag and fill that with flour and close the bag in a way that no air could get thru and close the bucket? Again, probably dumb but just trying to think of less money spent

@@HopewellHeightswow we have so much in common! I feel very much the same as you. Southern prepper 1 has some great tips for sharing with those in need without putting your own family at risk. Things such as never giving out food from your front door or your home. Meet people somewhere add guns them small amounts of rice, beans, water. Many people make small kits to give out to those who need it, including water, lighter, etc. You can do so much but you do always need to keep safety in mind, even freedom "those in need". When people need to feed their hungry children they can do things you would never have imagined. Stay safe and prepared!
