I ordered this gun 2 months ago. It is one of the best guns I have ever owned. I love the trigger right out of the box. The gun is very accurate. The sites are 100 % correct at 20 yards. I have had no problems with any jams or misfires. I have about 400 rounds thru the gun with no problems. I really love the gun. It cost me 529.00 in South Carolina. I have lots of real nice expensive guns and I like this one much better. The gun is heavy when the mag is filled with 20 bullets, but that the way I like it. Great Gun , Love it.

Love Canik guns. Got my first SFx 2 years ago. Now 3 SFX'S later & over 45K rounds & no issues. Bought it on a Thursday, ran 1 mag. Shot & won a match on Saturday. I did not need any break-in period. I now own 8 different Caniks, the Elite SC as my EDC & 5200+ on that one. All total over 55K rounds thru them all & I've been lucky. No issues, all original parts. Except for the red dot, I keep them As-Is & I still win. Best Out-of-the-box triggers.

I replaced the drop-safety plunger spring to eliminate some of that resistance on the trigger pull right before you hit the wall. I also experienced a ton of cycling failures when I first got it. I let it spend a few nights locked back and ran a few hundred 124gr rounds through it. Now the ejection patterns are consistent and I haven't had a failure in the past 600-700 rounds. It runs like a champ. This gun is probably the best gun deal that I've participated in. You get a lot for your money with this one.
@LongTermReviews4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. At this point I've modified a number of the springs inside the pistol, but I hadn't done those mods when this video was filmed. That safety plunger spring change made a noticeable difference for me too. I'll do another video with my latest mods, but I'm even more thrilled than I was in this video. The thing runs smooth.

I never had a break in problem with mine. I did read on some forums that leaving the slide locked back overnight helped to break in the recoil spring without wasting ammo or wearing your arms out. I did it to prevent failure to lock back issues other people were having with some ammo. It's a nice little life hack to know about guns.

Here is the historical approach for the "canik" name, if you are interested. CANİK name comes from the Canikoğlu tribe which was ruling Samsun city and its vicinity back in 12th century. Samsun is an industrial city in Turkey on the Blacksea coast, which is also the hometown of the SYS CANIK Company. CANIKOGLU Tribe is a famous one and together with 10 other tribes, is one of the foundation stones of the Ottoman empire. Even today They are keeping the tradition and also are the patriot and proud people of the black sea coast. And for those of you who want to spell it correctly; we simply spell it like: "johnick".

I purchased my Canik TP9SFX 5 month ago. I have put over 400 rounds down range from 5 to 25 yards without any issue, always using winchester 115 grains. At low light conditions or black targets the sights aren´t good. I paint them in white (except the red fiber optics, of course) and the problem was solved. I still prefer my Glock 17, a more versatile handgun but this canik can achieve better results in any competition due to its light trigger and longer distance between sights.

Odd you had to break it in. I had zero issues out of the box 1st thousand rounds. No break in required. Our friends had zero issues also. More reliable then my Glock.

Especially in the context of discussing the gun with others, I find the phonetic pronunciation to be more practical. If somebody asks about my pistol and interesting in buying it, I can say it's a "Canik" and they can go search it up. If you pronounce it the "correct" way you also need to get into how it's spelled and it's just needlessly complicated.

Great content about the CANiK and the break in period. I just got mine a few days ago, though it is a pre owned pistol, but it's so cherry and pristine. I don't like buying guns at a pawn shop b/c they sell them for the retail price at stores. However, I do know about wear and tear about pistols and mine was or is Air Force top notch clean, no blemishes, scratches, dinks, kinks or knicks. Only then I don't mind paying the price and he did lower the price by $50 and that did it. I have been seeing that there is a breaking point for this weapon, so I have that to look forward to-so be it. Thanks for the info.

I love mine. No issues with breaking it in. The trigger is great out of the box... But the freedom smith triggers take it to another level. Question: does the extra weight (in the grip panel) make a difference? Is it worth buying?
@LongTermReviews3 жыл бұрын
Whew. It really depends on your budget. I'd say that going with brass magazine extensions over the aluminum is definitely worth it, and brass over aluminium for the magwell is worth it too, if you're getting a magwell anyway. The brass backstrap adds some heft to the grip, and makes it "feel" a little less top heavy, even when your magazine is empty. It's definitely an improvement, but whether it's worth it or not would depend on your budget. Of the Taylor Freelance parts I've installed, it's the one I'd prioritize last, but I'd certainly buy it again if i had it to do over again.

How was the accuracy with the RDO installed? Was that difficult to site in or a downside?
@LongTermReviews2 жыл бұрын
The RDO was quite accurate. I was satisfied with its accuracy out of the box and never tried to change the windage or elevation. It does have adjustment screws, but I didn't mess with them. I could reliably score hits at 25 yards on steel plates. I don't compete with the RDO on, as it would move me to Open, so I can't speak to it's function in a competitive setting.

I don't have a Holosun optic, so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe their larger optics use a Trijicon footprint, which this gun includes a plate for. My understanding is that some of their newer, smaller pistol optics use a modified Shield footprint, and the plate for the Shield footprint can be modified to accept those optics. Perhaps someone else will chime in here, but that's what I've got from a little web reading. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer!

Yes. I also installed the brass backstrap, which interfaces nicely with the mag well, so I waited to put the Talon Grips on until I had the backstrap and magwell in place. When applying the Talon Grips, they overlapped the magwell slightly so before applying heat i just took an exacto knife to the grips at the top of the magwell to remove the overlap. I've heard a lot of folks lately saying that theirs will shoot anything reliably. Mine initially struggled with Blazer Brass, until I ran a couple of hundred rounds Fiocchi 124 gr through it. After the break in period above, mine will produce reasonable results with any brass cased ammunition that I've tried.
