That’s some fine work my friend, WAY beyond my rope work and knotting ability.

I kinda miss the music you guys used on your splicing videos from like 9 years ago. Glad to see you guys are still putting out quality content though!

What's the length of the dyneema cover used in this example? Thanks
@Premiumropes

We use 3 meter cover when we want to re-cover 2.5 meter of rope.

@@Premiumropes Thanks! So you strip at the 3rd meter in the example, and the additional cover is 3m as well.

1. compared to a cover with technora or polyester, is it easier to splice with Dyneema cover. 2. In what application do we use this type of technique? Halyard, Mainsheet with block?

It's maybe a bit easier with Dyneema, but it won't ne a big difference. The technique is mainly used to add extra abrasion resistance to jibsheets, and all types of halyards

@@Premiumropes Thanks for your response. it was indeed easier with the Dyneema cover. I tapered 1.2 meter since it is for a tackline on a small boat. Nevertheless at the end I was not able to tuck back the dyneema tail cover inside the initial cover (Polyester and Technora) the cover was so tied so I was not able to insert a fid. any tips for the next time? I just did a whipping

@@laurentb5401 I dont know which rope you used, but some are difficult or in some cases impossible to splice proper;y. Ask the brand or supplier if a rope can be spliced.

@@laurentb5401 that sounds like VPC to me. It's nice & cheap, but an absolute nightmare to splice. Note that Technora doesn't have great UV resistance, so it's good to make sure it's covered.
