I've seen, read, heard many different individuals providing tips, tricks, tutorials etc and I must say that you consistently provide clear, concise and easy to follow information that does not leave out the little details that many individuals gloss over because they may feel that it is common knowledge or in the manual. I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. I know it is hard work to edit all of clips to provide this content. Thank you. As a side note: Thinking about how people gloss over the details reminded me of some mechanic shows on TV many years ago where they would start a project then after the commercial the engine or whatever they were building was complete and they stated "there you have it!" And you like wait! Whoa! What about showing me the process so that my questions are answered! Haha but I digress. Thank you again. I look forward to your future content.

1:25 Still exporting the stems "solo" is the best way as it also exports them with their effects sends. And it is, in my opinion, the best way to process them. Exporting with Ableton the individual stems, it is faster but it exports each send channel as a separate channel with all the effects wet all mixed. for example all the sounds affected by a reverb at the same time in a single channel, impossible to compress or process correctly. Maybe there is another way to achieve the same thing and that is not exporting in "solo" channel by channel
@slingshot_uk
@slingshot_uk Жыл бұрын
I do it by selecting (NOT Soloing) my grouped tracks... CTRL/CMD + Left-click on each Group Track header... then, in the export window Track Render drop down, choose 'Selected Tracks Only'. Then I start a new project, import my stems, drag in the Return Tracks from the old project and re-apply the send levels. Or you can repeat the process but on each of the Group outputs, choose 'Sends Only' before selecting and exporting (also possible to export the Sends Only in the Track Render drop down). Then you'd end up with your dry stems (with any inserted group fx processing) and separate send fx stems. Also, you can select any combination of individual tracks, grouped tracks and nested grouped tracks.

Hi, what does oversampling do when enabled on the EQ8?
@DirtySecretz

Basically it’s like a ‘high quality’ setting for the EQ, however it does then use more CPU

tip #2 - just set up stems in your mix template and record em in one pass. make duplicate tracks of your groups, put em into record mode, muted, input only mode. should be part of any template
@DirtySecretz
@DirtySecretz Жыл бұрын
Good tip, yes this is something I put into my template earlier this year
@slingshot_uk

Or just select (NOT Solo) the stems (Grouped tracks) you want to export (CTRL/CMD + left click on each grouped track header) and then choose 'Selected tracks only' in the Render Track drop down menu of the export window.... no need to waste time and extra CPU/RAM resources by realtime recording duplicates of what's already available to export. Render any Send fx separately in order to still be able to mix their levels later on, or drag your stems + return tracks (saved in your old project and accesible through the browser) into a new project and re-apply send levels... that way you can still tweak any send fx settings you want. This works with any combination of individual tracks, grouped tracks and even nested grouped tracks (Groups within Groups).

How do you add an effect on all tracks without dragging it in individually? Thank you
@DirtySecretz
@DirtySecretz 2 жыл бұрын
There isn't really a way to do that, although you could group the tracks you want and then apply the effect to the group or if it's all tracks, the master.
@slingshot_uk
@slingshot_uk Жыл бұрын
@@DirtySecretz adding an insert effect on grouped tracks is not the same as adding an insert effect on individual tracks e.g. If you were to add a compressor with the same settings to 5 individual tracks, those compressors would work as expected. However, if you grouped those 5 tracks and inserted a compressor on the group, you're gonna get very different results. As mentioned in the video... this is where saving effect presets helps a lot. If you find you're wanting to add the same basic effects chains to each track (i.e. EQ>Compressor>Saturator or whatever) then you can group the effects and save as an Effect Rack, with lots of benefits for setting up custom macro controls. Or, if you find that you're always setting up a track with exactly the same effects chains, you can set it up once and then Right-click on the track header > Save as default Audio/Midi track. Then every time you add an audio or midi track, it will insert your default one. You can reset your default track by inserting a new one, deleting the effects and re-saving as the default.
