Nice video, Steve. I often photograph birds on the beach, and I have to do what you mentioned. I often walk fast or jog to get ahead of them because they often move away from you, as you said. The frontal shots do look better, imo.

Hi Steve, I have watched more then my share of instructional photography videos over the years. You are without a doubt, one of the best communicators on the web at this time. Not only is the information you are conveying consistently accurate (which is rare), but you succeed in making these sometimes complex concepts easy to understand and apply. Fantastic job!

Hi Henrik Sorry, for some reason YT isn't letting me reply to your comment directly. The book goes over a lot of tips for working with wildlife, how to use parks to you advantage, how to position yourself for good shots etc. As for finding animals, it doesn't really go into too much - other than to say to look for where they are most common. The problem is every animal has a different habitat and there's no silver bullet for where to look / wait for them. Each species is different, and the approach I'd take for a coyote would be different than for a heron. So, I guess the answer to your question is yes & no :) It points you in the direction you need, but when it comes down to where to find specific wildlife, that's up to you. (although I do list a lot of my favorite places here in the states for shooting and what to expect). Thanks!

Master the lens and camera which one use. This is the best tip from my side to get a good photograph. Rather than keep on upgrading the camera gear is better to learn and understand the current camera gear properly.

All good tips, as usual. :-) I'd add to the wind one by saying keeping downwind may let you get closer. Just don't become breakfast. Also bring a macro lens, and look down and under stuff when things are quiet. If the big animals or birds are elusive, there are always colourful bugs and creepy crawlies, or even interesting fungi or whatever. Also keep an eye out for snakes (have to add that, as I'm an Aussie).
