Zantetsuken is actually very useful if you use dancing blades it basically gives you 3 to 5 charges if you hit enough enemies and you are invulnerable when using it. Start fight, dancing blade. Then just top of the gauge and fire lvl 5 Zantetsuken with no hassle. Works great for clearing waves of trash mobs on final fantasy difficulty and saves a ton of time.

I miss outros on whatculture. Is it that hard to say "I've been Jess from whatculture and I hope you all have a good one." or something like that. The no endings is just jarring.

On the topic of the double-bladed lightsabers/saberstaffs - "If you know where one blade is, then you know where the other blade is too". Basically, most of it's effectiveness came from it being rare, so not many knew how to fight or defend against it, and it's intimidation factor. Which, in fairness, both work very well for a Sith or Dark Jedi using one.

Thing i noticed for number 1, once the sword is equipped just start dodging and the guage fills up pretty fast. So doing it against multiple enemies or aoe attacks is very effective once you know how to use it

Hard disagree on zantetsuken there were multiple easy ways to restack it to 5 plus you could store a full charge zantetsuken for the right moment

"Zantetsuken" number 1 = lack of gameplay ability. You build up the ability very quickly when fighting normal mobs just by perfect dodging . And for bosses, you need to equip lighting rod, dance steel and void shift, you stagger the boss, activate limit break then just activate lighting rod, use dance steel and that combo is enought to fill the gauge. Then use Rift Slip to immediately use the LVL5 Zantetsuken .

I don't understand the Zangief entry. He's a grappler. His whole playstyle revolves around getting in on the opponent so then he can mix up with his high damage command grabs. Do you want him to be able to grab you with his highest damage tool from half the screen away or something? Edit: Yeah, just got to the Shuma entry. Whoever wrote this video has absolutely no idea how command grabs in fighting games work and why they work the way they do

Wow this video is talking complete nonsense about Zantetsuken. Using it was literally the one recommended build for beating Final Fantasy difficult easily up until some of the more recent DLC stuff made other strats way more viable. All the other Odin abilities, especially dancing blades, are literally purpose built to synergise with it and build up the charge because they do lots of small hits instead of single big ones. Unless you are just getting the sword out then not using any other abilities you basically get to fire off 1 ability, that you are invunerable whilst using, to get to max charge and then unleash it and wipe every single trash mob around you and deal major damage to stronger mobs.

I think you were able to negate the gloom sword's effect by fusing it to a different handle

Glad to see Golden Sun getting some love, but there is an item in the game called the Fairy Ring that lets your character ignore the cursed effect.Its found in the same secret dungeon that the Thunder Crown is in.

Best workaround for the gloom weapons in TotK: fuse the gloom weapon on the outside so it's not the weapon in Link's hand. Enjoy your new badass weaponry, curse-free! 😀

I'm sure this list could have been filled with weapons that constantly drain your own health. And I mean constantly, not only when swinging the weapon, just having it in your hand is enough. For example there is a dagger in one of the Yakuza games that sets your enemies on fire, but because the dagger is literally on fire it also drains your own health.

You just fuse the gloom sword onto the end of another weapon, and you take no damage from it.

Technically doesnt count for this list, but I thought about it since its so recent: No Rest for the Wicked. The Purple Enchantment Items Giving a purple enchantment to your weapon makes it super powerful, however, it gives you one huge tradeoff. Some of which are typically capable of bricking your character and the weapon and can render even using the weapon completely useless. Like the one where you lose experience on death and damage taken. The reason it wouldnt count is because you can apply these to any weapon rather than them being a single weapon themselves.

So, not to take credit away from Mario 64 for everything that it did, but it wasn't the first 3d platformer. I think it was a game called "Alpha Wave" that came out in 1990.

on other downside to the double-bladed-lightsaber: you can't use a "saber throw" move unless you turn it half-way off. this can be a pain when dealing with flying enemies.

My nominees for the list: Mega Man Battle Networks Dark Chips and Kingdom Hearts Anti Form In Mega Man Battle Network 4, it has these things called Dark Chips. They are more powerful than regular chip variants, however, the tradeoff is that by using them even once, you lose 1 MAX HP permanently. And there is no way to recover this lost HP at all. You can increase you HP stat, but you can never recover the Max HP loss. This only stops once you lose a total of 500 Max HP, or are down to 1 Max HP. Thats it. Just 1 HP for the rest of the game, post game, everything. In its entirety. That, or you focus on dumping all your stats into HP to bring it above 1, but it will never be as high as it could have been if you never used the Dark Chips in the first place. In Kingdom Hearts 2, Sora has the Anti Form. This form was designed to be "powerful yet troublesome". While each of Soras Drive Forms in this game specialize in something, and strengthen Sora. The Anti Form provides even more power than the base Drives, but at the cost of everything else. The Anti Form increases Soras speed and agility drastically, and makes moving around for him insanely fast and he is able to evade moves easily, and rapid fire hit targets and take out crowds. The tradeoff is that Sora will lose both partners when using this form, so no backup, he cant use magic or anything else while in this form, he is physically weaker in this form so you are able to strike multiple times, a lot faster, but also those said hits arent as strong, you cannot use items, so you also cannot heal while in this form if you are in danger or in a pinch, you also cannot gain experience from defeated enemies while in this form.

Zantetsuken has a lot of ways to get around the charging required. Dancing Steel + its Darkness accessory is enough for a full charge on 1 move. plus that's what Heavens Cloud and Gungnir are for, to make the charge faster (plus parrying) It requires more skill, but its totally worth it

Golden Sun FINALLY gets coverage. You get a ring that negates Cursed effects for one character... looking at you, Garett.

The Zentetsuken I think its a skill issue hahahaha I use it all the time even on FFmode, it saves a lot of time with rank-and-file enemies and is a saver when it comes to level up fast.

Can't believe you completely ignored the thunder slash from FF9 in favor of Zantetsuken from FFXVI. The FF9 one was actually useless. Commonly used by Beatrix to rain pain upon the party, when you finally get the skill yourself the disappointment cannot be anymore palpable when you realize the damn skill only hits every once in a blue moon, because of one major flaw; that it's accuracy is set to zero.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light's Stasis subclass was amazing in PvE but it had to be nerfed cause of course, freezing stuff in PvP is broken and PvP dictates 99% of nerfs in the series. Love the darkness abilities, but man, Stasis was something else when it first released

With the right load out you can fill that zantetsuken gauge easily

Honestly, the Gloom weapons are not worth the effort at all, and not just because of their Gloom Toll effect. Their durability is also poor, so they end up breaking rather quickly, even when you fuse them onto a weapon to negate their flaws.

Nah Zantetsuken isn't bad. All the other abilities of it charge up the gauge so getting to level 5 isn't that hard. Dancing Steel does have a long wind up time but you can just use Will of the Wykes beforehand so you don't get knocked out of Dancing Steel's startup. Also don't equip the cheat ring that lets you auto combo and instead equip one of the items to increase Zantetsuken gauge gain and you'll be getting to level 5 quickly and often.

You are SOOOOOOOOOO wrong about the saberstaff in Jedi Academy. First of all that's the correct name, not double sword. That would be the dual wielding of 2 single bladed sabers. Obviously you haven't played the game :). At the time, 2003, you must have been a kid. About the "ultimate moves". They are called kata, same as in martial arts. Whether you use single, dual sabers or the saberstaff, which is my very favorite because of the spinning, buzzsaw move, all of them have kata. The saberstaff has 2 and the 2nd one is the ultimate. It's the butterfly jumps, which Ray Park (Darth Maul) is performing in the 1999 movie Star Wars The Phantom Menace. As for the kick, combining it with force push, it's very convenient for pushing enemies off bridges and other high places, to their death. It's not meant to do damage by itself but rather get the enemy off balance. It's of strategic importance.

The Gloom Sword has a good reason why it’s a bad idea to use. Gloom is a bad status effect. It drains Link’s health and while the weapon is powerful, it’s more effective when fused with another weapon.
