Sleeping dogs should be a thriving series by now

I always felt like General Shepherd's motives in the original Modern Warfare 2 were a bit confusing. He claims it started with the nuke in the previous game and how the world supposedly just stood by and watched... apparently forgetting that the last act of the original Modern Warfare centered entirely around bringing down the guy responsible for that mess. Did he just forget about the part where they chased down Zakhaev's son then stopped him from launching further missile strikes on America? Or was he just upset that it was an SAS operator who finally killed Zakhaev instead of one of his marines? Admittedly, his plan for Allen could probably have been more clearly explained. Allen gets put undercover, presumably stays there long enough to get to know Makorov personally and gets recruited into an operation that he presumably knows involves mass murdering civilians, but doesn't do anything about it? Did he not think to report that information? He never considers the possibility of stopping it. The best explanation I can come up with is maybe Allen reported directly to Shepherd (who I guess we're supposed to assume also tipped off Makorov) and was instructed to maintain his cover under the pretense that something was already being done, then had no choice but to go along with it when the expected help never came. Though if that's the case, it definitely could have been more clearly explained.

Vagrant Story and Sleeping Dogs not getting sequels is a failure of the industry I will never forgive it for.

Muramasa was awesome. And I actually loved replaying the game as our two leads Momohime and Kiskue actually have intertwining storylines that actually require replaying the game after getting the first ending for each of them, as you need 99% of the game's equip-able swords which means grinding levels and the extra challenge arenas which you can now unlock via the ability to destroy white barriers so you can get the stuff needed to craft them in order to access the boss fight against one another which is where you get the 2nd ending for each of them and then you finally get the game's strongest sword you can equip for both of them the Oboro Masamune in which you can access the true final boss for each storyline and get the 3rd and true ending for each of them.

It's strange that Vagrant Story didn't do well in sells because it was at the PS1 lifecycle cause it was still playable on the PS2

Cyberpunk 2077 is also notable in that it (alongside accusations of crunch culture, at least in the latter part of its development before release) cost CD Projeckt Red's built up goodwill that they had been accruing for years. The gaming community as a whole seemed to really love the company, especially after The Witcher 3. But damn if the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco didn't essentially cause the company to immolate itself using their previous positive vibes from the gaming community as fuel. They've certainly redeemed themselves somewhat (even if it took what, a year or more to properly fix the game?), but Cyberpunk 2077 should be considered the poster child of how this tendency to release games in half-finished states is a huge problem in this modern era since even supposed golden development studios will do it.

Fun fact; Playstation 2 was fully backwards compatible with Playstation 1. Hidden away in the console settings were some options to offer a quality bump. This includes disc speed and texture smoothing (bi-filtering/interpolation). Vagrant Story worked very well with the Texture boost, looking even more amazing than on its original console.

I remember reading an article in 2016, which stated, that they had a pitch for Sleeping Dogs 2 story. The story would pick up after the first game and you would be able to play as Wei again, but also a new character named Henry Fang, who is described as a corrupt partner. It would play out in China's Pearl River Delta City. Sad we never got it.

I absolutely love the Sleeping Dogs video game, and in all honesty it really cannot be compared to Grand Theft Auto, because it's its own game, that's just my opinion
