My criteria for names was they had to suit all ages, (as you mentioned) so when choosing them my husband and I matched them with " hush little ____________, don't you cry" (baby stage) , "___________ eat your peas!" (for the toddler stage) and also imagining them in a romantic situation as an adult , " __________ will you marry me?" I think it's worked so far. Ha,ha. Never got to use my girl names, as we only had boys but I love the old fashioned 'grandma names' that are coming back like Mabel.

northernsteph yes a lot of them are for instance she mentioned ruby that was my dad's cousins name as well as my nieces friend , Margaret is another that's coming back in many forms I'd use it as it's a family name whereas mums name is really only used by members of her generation she's ( 83) not many Joan's amongst young people but I've always loved the Irish form of her name ( siobhan )

Girrrl! We are on the same wavelength when it comes to names. My girls are Wren and Piper, and we named one of the little girls we lost Nora. Oh, and my dog is Luke. I think I lean toward names that are unique but not weird, although I constantly have to say, "Wren, like the bird," because it's kind of weird. Esme is a favorite of mine too!

My grandmother's name was Ella Opal as well, but she only went by Opal. So since she never used her first name I figured I'd snatch it right up. My cousin is Opal Ann. I love it as a first name as well. ❤️

Shaun and I are so bad with nicknames - Lucas is Lukey, Lulu, Lou, Lucifer, Lukestar... Callum is Callie beans, Coco, coco beans, cokie, bean town.... today i found myself calling him bing bong! But the worst is ... recently we were with some bigger kids talking about nicknames, and they said 'Lucas - what's your nickname?' With eyes shining bright and full of pride, he said 'My mommy calls me McPOOPYPANTS!' Think we really need to work on this........... :)

I love your taste! Just wanted to add that Nora is an arabic name, so unless you spell it "Noira", it won't mean black in french, but it would mean "light" in Arabic. Just a fun fact while naming! :)

I'm glad you made this video! Haha, I like all of those. And I like Esme Rose and Jack River so much. My husband and I are almost sure we're naming our daughter Esme, if we ever have a girl. Our son's name is Samuel Jon. It would be interesting to do a father version of this video. You should tag your husband! I wonder if anyone has ever done that? Try to convince Dean!!!!

I love original names and I must say, you had quite a few interesting ones! I find it fascinating how almost any word can become a beautiful name in English. And I didn't know you could speak French... Impressive! I'm from Montreal too and my daughter's name is Alizée, which is the French name for the tropical Trade winds, and if we have a little boy, we will call him Kasper. We wanted a nice Polish name since my husband is from Poland, but we struggle to find one that anyone could pronounce!

Our friends named their boy Bair, and it's perfect for him! His older sister is Bria, so they used the same letters in different order for their kids, adorable😊 We named our kids as a "set" too, lol, Finnley and Fiona.

Oh, and I agree it's hard to imagine certain names as adults, especially for girls. I'm good friends with a Ruby (I also love that name) so I can totally see it. I loved the name Coral when I was pregnant but couldn't picture it as a strong adult name. But I'm sure there are many fabulous and fierce women named Coral out there!

I love these names! Piper is so adorable but my favourites from your list were Violet and River - Jack's middle name is so unique! My name is Laurysa Jayde, and my mom loved it because of how it sounded, but also because of how it looked in cursive writing! I have to agree, I love how it looks when I sign anything 😛👌🏻

I love a lot of those names 💕 we went with slightly unique names with a bit of an ode to Irish heritage for our 3 girls. Makenna Bailey, Shiloh Everly, and Rowynn Ellie. And I hadn't given much thought to nicknames but Kenna, Shi, and Ro are used daily now lol.

Since we're in the process of trying to find a name for our little boy due this summer I have been gravitating towards these name videos. With my son it wasn't even a thought. We knew his name instantly, this time nothing seems right. When I saw you posted I just knew I had to watch and that you'd have some names I love. You mentioned a couple that were already on my top 5 ;) I am totally with you on short sweet names. I've spent months trying to think up the perfect name for this new human, I don't want it altered to anything else. (Though to be completely honest I rarely call my son by his name "Ian". He is always some cutesy embarrassing made up name....Tinkerbutt, Babylove, Bugaboo lol) Wish me luck...naming people is hard.

LOVE all of your names, Amanda. Jack River is such a nice name. Before our son Camden was born, we were going to name him Hudson - I thought it was a nice strong name. But when Camden came out, he just had a more gentle spirit than Hudson. Jack was definitely on my list for either girl or boy, along with Charlie for a girl. I also considered Violet and other flower names if we had a girl, as my name is Ananda Rose - and Ananda is not pronounced like Amanda, but instead each "a" is a long "a," like "Ah-non-duh." It's a Sanksrit name.

Luc was our top boy name! We wanted names that could be pronounced well in french and english since we are french speaking (my name on the other hand was such a pain to be pronounced at school in french lol) Loved your names! one animal name I wouldnt suggest would be "fox" -- a little guy at a local playgroup is named Fox and lets just say it ALWAYS ends up sounding like a swear word coming from other kids LOL

Oddly, I can talk about baby names all day long. I just LOVE them! I love Kalia for my next (not happening) little Hawaiian baby and I love Koa for a boy. I also like Keanu and Nani. Before I married a Hawaiian man I thought I would name my kids Bailey and Taylor. Funny how you don't consider your other half might have a strong opinion too when you're just dreaming up names early on! Lol

Love love love Nora 😍 I always have lots of girl names I like. In my last pregnancy I was all about Mary, Nora and Felicity but he's a boy called Jacob. We really liked Jake but wanted him to have a long name too so he had options when older 'Jake' vs. 'Jacob' on a job application.. to be fair I like most of the names you said here but have worked as a teacher and also in childcare so alot of names have associations!

Bear reminds me of my little cousin, when he was a baby we would sing to him (name changed for privacy) "Micheal Thomas Kodi bear, such a pretty baby..." as part of a song and when he started daycare or something like that he would "correct" the teachers by yelling "No, its Michael Thomas Kodi *bear!*" it was so funny, he thought it was a part of his name
