I completely agree, I would also include 4 Roses Small Batch to give the pallet a RYE / Spice forward flavour. Love it. Remove the EH Taylor and ADD 4 Roses small batch solid bar cart for bourbon. You cover Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey, and Jim Beam...maybe add a Forester, a Michters and a Four Roses.

Nice selection. Wild Turkey 101 and Rare Breed Rye are two of my favorites. I haven't seen Rare Breed Bourbon anywhere in Oregon. Barrell makes very good blended Bourbons. Dove Tail is one of my favorites. Cheers!

I tend to like Rye in old fashioned these days or old fashioned with high rye. Wt 101 makes a good OF. I’ve never lied russels reserve for some reason.

Great list. I would add Jim Beam Single Barrel and Four Roses Small Batch Select. The Beam has been a really nice surprise, very impressed with it.

My last 2, a couple of single barrels, Bakers 7 and four roses. Like both of these and usually not real hard to find. Great video by the way.

Just like you, I have a lot of favorites and it changes all the time. For a lower proof option right now it's Tin Cup 10yr (84proof). For mid proof it's E H Taylor Small Batch or Single Barrel (100 proof). And for higher proof I've really been digging Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Unfiltered (120-125 proof).

I have 8 of the 12 of those. Really interested in grabbing the Penelope toasted. I was surprised you didn’t include old forester 100 or the 1920 and woodford double Oaked.

Agree on Rare Breed! It’s awesome! But you can still get Four Roses Single Barrel for less than $50!!! Fantastic!

I have all of the ones that you showed on your list except Penelope and Barrel. Going to have to get those to try! I have the EH Taylor and Eagle Rare but they are hard to get here in Ohio. I have many more but this really makes sense as to the staple bourbons that most should get. I do like your pick and explanations of why.

No Old Forrester! I agree that the 100 proof (which is one of my favorite bargain bourbons) is probably too hot for beginners. But the 86 proof is what got me from a beginner to a lover of bourbon and it's only like 18 bucks in my area. I think a couple of those picks are a bit too expensive and hot for a newbie. Still a great list of bourbons for sure.

Four Roses Small Batch Select and Bakers Single Barrel 7-year.

i can't argue with any of your selections. This is the 2nd video of yours I have seen and you are a Wild Turkey fan and I understand that. I have had their original, 101, and rare breed and even though I liked every one of them they are not ones I would rush to buy again. It is not because they are bad but there are other products in the same price range I like better. I prefer Old Forester products better with the exception of the 100 proof. I prefer Buillett over WT101 and OF1920 is more money than RB I would get that or even opt for the JDSBBP for the extra money. I do like the EC, 1792, and BT and the ECSB and 1792 are easy to find around here but I would opt for Woodford's Reserve most of the time. I have yet to try the EHT or RR and have not even seen them yet but agree with Eagle Rare as a choice other than not being able to find it. I just picked up the Penelope Toasted but have not opened it. I am fairly new to the bourbon world and I don't have all of them at the moment because I am trying some new ones but my 10 would be Woodford's Reserve, OF1910(might be replaced with Penelope Toasted), OF1920, OF86, Buillett, Jim Beam double oaked, ECSB, Basil Hayden, Four Roses single barrel, and Jefferson's reserve 90.2 proof. This might change as I try some of the new ones that I have purchased or purchase in the future. There is too many out there.

Old Forester 100 is missing but this is a great list. Basically exactly how I started my collection.

Excellent list!. Although, to me Knob Creek 9 is so alcohol forward that I can't taste anything else (as opposed to Wild Turkey 101, where the different flavors stand out). I would add Woodford Reserve to your list for a starter Collection, as well as Maker's Mark.

12:49 I need to take a trip to where you live then. I've seen this bottle out in the wild where I live once in the last several years and it was $190. Eagle Rare I can get when I want for MSRP, though. Those differences in availability are crazy.

It's a solid list but the one item I see missing is a Four Roses product. I always have a single barrel bottle in my collection. It's a relatively affordable bottle and highly available.

For me id change out the EWBIB with Old Forester 100 and the Eagle Rare for Woodford Reserve (easier drinking for a begginner). Last 2 would be Eagle Rare (just picked one up off the shelf at a local grocery) and a wheated (Makers Mark). I consider my self still a newb and these are what i have on the shelf. Not sure i need a barrell or cask srrength for me to enjoy.

No woodford reserve or old forester? I'm a little surprised. Recently picked up a bottle of woodford reserve double oaked and I have only had a taste, but it was so good. Can't wait to spend some time with it.

I wish we could get Evan Williams BIB up here in Ontario, Canada. Best we can do is 1783, or the occasional EW Single Barrel. On another note, I remember having WT 101 while in the southern states, but the stuff we get up here lately seems a lot "rougher or less refined"?!?

Can't go wrong with Knobb Creek especially single barrel orvstire pick. Blue Note is a sleeper as well.

New to the channel. I have all 10 bottles that you showed, except my Penelope is Barrel Strength. I would add Early Times BIB, which rates very well in blind tastes and only costs $22 for a 1 liter bottle.

eht taylor small batch needs more than 4 years to tame that ethanol note on the 100 proof.

Surprised you didn't have any of the Makers Mark products. Definitely some of the best. As far as Eagle Rare we can get that all day for about $40. Luckily I have all on your list and a few more. Many haven't been cracked yet.

My daily drinker is Evan Williams black label because here in Ohio the White label is 19.99! I'm very jealous you can get it for 14! As for the last 2 I would pick Makers 101 for a wheater! Middle West bourbon for the different spices it shows with the dark pumpernickel rye!

Crazy can get Eagle Rare like wild turkey in my area but can't sniff an EH Taylor.

1792 is the year that KY broke away from Virginia to become a separate state, later West Virginia broke away to not be in with slaver jackasses in VA, I am a fan of Jefferson over Hamilton. Old Grand Dad 114 is often mentioned as above its price, made about 3 miles from where I live in Frankfort, Kenturkeyland; also the state for Wild Turkey and Four Roses production. I am not a fan of Buffalo Trace also made near where I live, but others have different taste buds, unless you are a total jackass do not pay for the horrible Bud beer with way too many ads for such crappy beer.
