Hey! I'm Alanna - a twenty-something documenting my life as a Canadian living in England.
I share the ups and downs of an expat living abroad and what it's really like living in the UK. It's not always easy, but there's been so many wonderful experiences, too. I post a KZfaq video every Tuesday and an additional video every Saturday on my Patreon account. I also livestream every Wednesday and Sunday at 6:30pm GMT on Twitch.

One of the contestants on BakeOff started crying because something didn't go to plan. And then got even more upset because she knew her breakdown would be broadcast to the country. So the presenters and other contestants just started swearing really loudly for 10 minutes to make the footage unusable so it would have to get edited out. How wholesome!

I love Doctor Who, but I am not one to get angry at people who don't like the same things I do - firstly it would be a boring world if we all liked exactly the same things, plus if you hear someone gushing about something you have never watched, it may inspire you to give it a try, and that is how you sometimes end up loving something you might never have otherwise given a chance to!

@@neilbuckley1613 The problem with Doctor Who is that it's a show that invites opinion. The show has gone on so long and is so pervasive in various media that the fans all feel that they own it to some extent. As a result, almost everything they do will be publicly maligned by a loud minority, whilst the majority either approve or keep their mouths shut. I'm not guilt-free of this myself but you tend to find more criticism of Doctor Who along the lines of "it's crap now because of this ill-defined reason" than you do in many non "cult" franchises

Brilliant video as always. I would recommend the following: "House of Cards" the UK version all three series were brilliant, "Father Brown" series for crime and mystery for daytime watching, any british version of an Agatha Christie "Poirot" and "Miss Marple" BBC and ITV (I love them) and finally "Black Books" brilliant sitcom based in a failing book shop.

Fresh Meat. It's great. Also The Detectorists. It's been mentioned in other comments. It's very whimsical, gentle humour, so well written and acted. It's set in rural Essex so it will look very familiar to you if you've been living in the Kent countryside. Also, I've met Bob Mortimer, you'll be pleased to know he's very sweet and down to earth and exactly like he is on the telly.

Old Brit lady with an old Canadian husband who for some reason can't get enough of old '70s comedies (I think watching them on PBS as a kid made him want to come to UK) we here in the UK are currently obsessing about Richard Osman's House of Games. You might like it when you get back here, its yet another "celebrity" quiz/panel show. Best thing about UK is that at least on the BBC there are NO ad breaks. You get to see the whole program from beginning to end without interruption!
