10 Biggest/Fastest Spaceships of the Xenomorph Alien Universe

When we think about Aliens and the Xenomorphs, our imagination always takes us to a dark claustrophobic place with a lurking biomechanical monster behind the shadow. While this is true, we quite often forget that sometimes those places are parts of large space ships that traverse through the void of space, a fact which is often neglected. So here in this video we will do these ships justice and discuss in detail about each of these interstellar capable vessels, their sizes and their speeds while travelling between star systems.

Kinda weird to think that ships from Aliens can out run a lot of ships from Star trek

Not only that, while faster, those ships are incredible small in dimensions for the job they do. For example, the USCSS Covenant is roughly the same lenght of an Halo's Autunn-class Heavy Cruiser. But it lacks mass, armor, weapons, proper FTL and Jump device, shields (after the war)... The USS Auriga instead is even bigger than an Autumn-class, but still half of the Infinite-class. But the Auriga comes from a different era of Alien, so it's kinda hard to fit the ship in the proper context. It's like comparing a sailing vessel from 1800 with a nuclear submarine. It's a bit odd. While all the ships of Halo used by humans belong to the war-period era that spans just 30 years.

There are no Faster than light ships in the Alien universe Why did the crew of prometheus have to be in stasis if the trip only took 2 years and was traveling 15 times the speed of light

@@FP194 no, they wasn't travel at that speed. Maybe it was 15% of speed of light. And yes, there's no FTL technology. What they call "FTL" is just a ship accelerating a good part of the speed of light and then decelerating. That's it.

@@FP194 As it is stated in the description of tachyon shunt (which is known as a real thing for FTL travels in Aliens universe) it transforms entire ship within its field of influence to tachyons that are moving FTL on their own. Tachyons require a lot of energy to be slowed down, just like common propulsion systems require more and more energy to bring ships speed closer and closer to speed of light (they kinda mirror normal particles relative to speed of light). It works as a loaded spring which is being hold by shunt and a lot of energy. When released, tachyon shunt launches ship (which is made of tachyons by that point) to extreme FTL speed that is normal for tachyons without slowdown. Cryopods are required because of time distortion effects that happen during tachyon shunt FTL jumps (time onboard moves quite a bit slower), it allows crew to survive and age normaly by slowing their metabolism. This causes another downside effect - upper limit of speed, when reached any travel would become immesurably long and thus deadly for crew onboard. It also requires energy to slow down spacecraft after acceleration, somewhere in the middle of its way

Yeah no, the Patna was a Conestoga-class for civil purpose. It was literally stripped from any offensive weapons and equipped with labs, hospital, etc. But apart from that, it was identical to the Sulaco.

The Nostromo is the one that I've come to love because of all the work spent of making the interior so believable. What I'd really like to know is how the Derelicts engines(?) work.

the nostromo set was reused as the interior of the Vogon constructor ship in the Good Hitchhiker series

I had to stop at about 2 light years per day. Man.... that is fast. It would still take about 180 years to cross the milky way (end to end).

Mankind in Alien universe is still young to develop more efficient ways to travel FTL. In Halo, by the year 2300 circa, the UNSC is able to use "hyperjumps". Basically they developed a device to open wormholes able to bring the ship from a point to another of the galaxy. In Alien humans just accelerate ships to crazy speed in order to shorter distances. But it will never be perfect such approach. It will always take more than what is acceptable for humans. Unless we don't make our life longer... Of course. But it will never happen either. So Alien universe remain a place where life is hard, mysteries are still a thing and there's a lot of space between you and the next safe port. In a sense, it's perfect for an horror story.

In AVP, don't all human ships such as Nostromo and Sulaco have any form of FTL Drive equivalent to either Star Trek Warp Drive or a Star Wars Hyperdrive, where you can travel from other Star System to Star System without too much relying on Cryo Pods for hypersleep?

Why do you show a drawing of the Patna that is a completely different ship than the Patna in Alien 3? In the film, the Patna looks very close to a Conestoga class cruiser like the Sulaco. What gives?

Funny the Alien has shown up at level ones in star wars I wish the Predator was in the star wars they would be perfect they would definitely work with the Mandalorians And the Covenant from halo

In Star Wars Legends (the good pre disney star wars lore) the original species that created the Mandalorian culture, the Taung, was inspired by the Predator alien.

7:35 the outline of the ship from Alien 3 is similar to Sulaco.. It looks like this ship is of the same design

USS Patna is a Conestoga Class Starship similiar in the design of the USS Sulaco. Patna is different to the Sulaco as it is able to enter the atmosphere similiar with the W-Y FTL spacecrafts.

I don’t know where you are getting that these ships were faster than light ? It is mentioned no where in the lore If the Nostromo could travel 43 times the speed of light why did they need to be in stasis and why did the crew say it was going to take longer to get home after stopping at LV426
