No one is talking about Tyler Adams but I like him a lot. Great age profile, played in the Red Bull system for 7+ years, 24 years old and over 200 senior games, and a national team captain. Defensive output was good at a Leeds team that offered no structural solidity. He also has played right back on occassion so he offers some cover where Liverpool are thin. Seems like a great choice to me and does tick a lot of the Liverpool recruitment boxes. Liverpool have been successful in recruiting Wijnaldum and Robertson from relegated teams previously. He has had an injury or two so I understand that is a drawback. Why is no one even mentioning him on their shortlist? 🤔

Liverpool won’t be buying Phillips from their main rival. There’s many reasons why that won’t happen not to mention city’s ability to sit on the player and let Liverpool suffer because if he’s their main choice, let’s be honest, it’ll be when Liverpool are struggling because he’ll be lower down their list.

I think it'll be Lavia and maybe one other who's ready depending on costs. Problem is we also need another CB who can play left or a RB so that Trent can move depending on what tactic we're going for. It's gonna be tough to cover all bases, and I worry that we might end up getting left short again.

Hi James--love your content! Can you do a rebuild/build video for Bournemouth? It's a completely new dynamic they have now under new coaching(Iraola), new ownership which has promised lots of investment(eg. new training ground facility, increased stadium capacity) and lots of new players to come, with Kerkez, Faivre, Traore, and Kluivert already through the door. I was wondering if we could get a vid of your take on how they should approach building to achieve their goals of establishing themselves in the Prem and building for the future. It would be a fascinating case study.

Just a few more options that people aren't looking at for whatever reason. If we are looking for that big Busquets like lighthouse at the center of the pitch: Manuel Locatelli - Top top holding midfielder Frank Kessie The Tank - No one is muscling him off the ball Ismael Bennacer - A bit short but good technical footballer. Boubacar Kamara - Premiere League Proven and young. Unai Vencedor - Very similar to Gabri Viega story (hometown kid for Athletic) but he's a defensive midfielder. Or go get Connor Gallagher to deal with homegrown issue.

For me it was always Lavia or Luis who should be brought in for LFC. They need a little more speed at their 6 as well due to how high they press and recovery speed when opponents are on the break. For me it’s Luis, Lavia , Palhinha (though age 28)

Of those options I feel Palhinha would be the best. A defensive monster, good on the ball, great positionally and is proven in the EPL. As. United fan I hope they get Philips who's an excellent player but will only be fit for half the season at best.

Sangare, Amrabat, and Zubimendi is good choice. Especially Sangare and Amrabat who plays more defensive.

My first choice would be Ibrahim Sangare, he is a monster who can dominate the midfield and he is well within the price range Liverpool will want to spend. If they bring in a second it could be Lavia as well

Although Lavia may not be perfect, he does have one key aspect over the rest which he is homegrown, and although it's impact might not be immediate, it will ease Liverpool quota further down the road and having more flexibility to operate in signings for other area.

With McAllister or Thiago guaranteed to start every game in the midfield, LFC do not need a ballplaying 6. Just a destroyer. Amrabat would be my pick of the original 4 on the list.

I feel like Kalvin Philips is ultimately just a problem of: Too good for Leeds fighting relegation, not quite top 6/7 level and now has such an iffy mentality around what his level actually is that mid-table teams are uncertain on him too when they really shouldn't be. He'd make a good replacement for Declan at West Ham.

I personally think Amrabat would be the best bet but I doubt Liverpool would start a bidding war with United for him so Fofana would probably be the best option they could get for a reasonable price.

Just thought, could we see Gakpo back in midfield again like we did see a hit last season with Nunez at Striker. Could it be Mac Alisster and Trent as the deeper 2, Gakpo and Szoboszlai as the further forward 2, then Diaz, Nunez, Salah up top with Jota rotating ST and LW? Personally I think Klopp will want to sign an out and out CDM, but just suggesting a thought

Palhinha or Kamara would be the best choice for us

Edson Alvarez is perfect. First team quality CDM and plenty of champions league experience. Proven quality in a poor Ajax team that has shown amazing versatility by playing at CB and RB. He is a destroyer with great defensive positioning and has high percentages of passing into the final third. With a more creative midfield or with Trent in the double pivot he would flourish.

Would love it if you look at the under the radar work Bournemouth are doing

With Hendo going as well as Fab, perhaps there’s opportunity still to bring in an understudy for the DM role as well as an experienced direct replacement for Fab. Lavia Painha combo looks like a plan.

Amrabat looks like a smart Liverpool type signing. Good Value for Money and 26 years old so the best should be yet to come

My current top choices are Sangare, Amrabat, or Locatelli. Palhinha and Lavia both make absolutely 0 sense to me because of their age, and everyone talks about Lavia's best attributes being his passing range and ability on the ball which is exactly what we don't need from that position with Trent and Mac Allister playing. We ideally need a destroyer who could be able to do a job at CB if push comes to shove.

Since making his premier league debut 3 seasons ago, Kalvin Phillips is in double digits in terms of games missed due to injury in each of those seasons. If you use transfermarkt as a source, he has missed 42 games in 3 seasons. There's no way Liverpool, given the injury issues they had with Keita, Oxlade, Thiago, Jones and Melo, should even consider Phillips. And that's before we talk about form and concerns about his weight. He is a walking red flag and the type of signing that could get a manager fired if you have a team dependent on him. Like Coutinho, he is the type of player that you say as a manager and club "let him be someone else's problem". Also he turns 28 in December so he isn't a young player with room to improve.

Joshua Kimmich. Versatile and can cover a few positions.

The biggest thing for me as a fan is making sure, for the money we received, that we’re getting better! Compared to what you get for champions league qualification or going deep in Europe (neither of which are guaranteed with the strength of other teams around us) 40M for Fabinho is really not that much, so for that money I think we should at least be staying as good as we are or getting better, not getting worse. But of the rumored options I think only Luis makes us as good or better than we were right now. I think caicedo would make us better too which is why I don’t know why we aren’t going harder for him tbh, but beyond those two the options pitched we’re pretty uninspiring/don’t fit the system/aren’t ready for that role yet.

Why are we not linked with Alvarez from Ajax. Absolutely amazing stats in the dutch league and just won the gold cup with Mexico. Could easily transfer those numbers to the PL

Liverpool was going to sign Lavia regardless, IMO. I think the Fab/Hendo exodus paused that move, but ultimately, I think he will be incoming. Sangare has a (relatively) cheap release clause. With the extra 55 million or so from the Fab/Hendo deals, signing both Sangare and Lavia is the best plan of attack. Liverpool is losing 5 first team midfielders. Injuries limited 2 of those 5, but I still believe 4 incoming is needed. If I'm picking only one, Sangare is more ready now, and Bajcetic can back him up.

With Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago all looking likely to leave I would go for Lavia and Florentino Luis.

With Lavia as well you treat the price like he’s English cuz he counts as home grown. If you were paying 50m for a potential world class English dm you’d call it a no brainer, him and a more experienced dm (e.g. sangare palhinha etc) would be perfect!

Liverpool needs the new version of fabinho, Gini and hendo midfield. They were their best when those three played together. Always fit and always full of energy and willing to do the dirty work.

I know it might cost Liverpool a bit but if they want to challenge for the prem again, they need to go after Kimmich. He would be fantastic as the 6 in their team

I trust Klopp but I'm hoping it's Fofana. Everything I've seen/ read about him makes me think he'd be perfect. 23 years old, over 6' tall and can physically dominate that area of the pitch. Played nearly every match for Monaco and France and according to Transfermarkt he's only on 15K per week with 1 year to go! The only thing I'm not sure about is his pace but if we can get for 30m ish on low wages he could potentially be the next Doucoure/ Paulinha/Caicedo and worth double that this time next year. With our owners/ wage structure I don't think we should be spending over 60m for any DM - especially a player who was bought for under 25m last summer. The other major positive is we'd still have money to spend big and whether that's on a CB, another 8 or another 6 (or hopefully all 3) I'm not too bothered but would love us to bulk out the squad with young hungry players with the potential to improve (Kone/ Thuram/ Andre Trindade/ Gravenberch/ Gallacher/ whoever Klopp likes). I think 2 or 3 x 30m ish players would be preferable to 1 x 80m/ 90m player. I'd also love Colwill or Guehi but cant see it happening). PS Good luck Jordan Henderson YNWA

If it's true that Sangaré is worth 30mil and Turham is worth around 30 as well, why not get both? The former is ready to be a starter destroyer, the latter is young, strong, quick, good on the tackle and driving the ball forward, has played as a DM, but can play as an 8. No brainer.

I rate Amrabat because I think Bajcetic is the real heir to Fab's role but he's just a bit young to really take that role for a full season and Amrabat is better value because he's game ready now and we don't need him to be that guy for more than 2 seasons.

Would love zubimendi at Liverpool

Florentino Luis is clear number 1, he's incredible, so physical, yet really technical, doesn't make many mistake, very calm on the ball. Tbh, as a Chelsea fan, I want him over Caicedo, makes complete sense to re partner with Enzo but Benfica are tough to negotiate with. Other shouts I don't mind: Fofana, Sangare, Lobotka, Bennacer. Some outside shouts of young high potential youngsters ready to take the next step: Ricci, Fagioli, Zubimendi Some young back ups for future : Hezze, Vermeeran, Hjulmand, V. Souza, Sforza, Redondo. Remember the name Federico Redondo, his father was pretty great for Madrid, he will be really special in a few years, one of the best in Europe.

People who don't think 50 million is a bargain for Lavia haven't watched him play.

Amrabat is a horrible shout. Guy couldn’t cut it at Feyenoord years ago, trust me he won’t make it in the PL. yes he did well at the WC, but everybody was at 110%, they’re was something special going on in that team.

Kalvin Phillips has missed an average of 14 games per season since the 20/21 season, with 16 games a season in both the last two seasons.
