Mbappe could have left a few years ago, won some titles and UCLs with Real Madrid, probably a Ballon d’Or or two and then taken a huge bag from Saudi this year, then joined the premier league next year at 25 years old just to finally prove himself in the best competition. His career has been such a disappointment compared to what it could have been. Wasting 8 years in France already.

I think we’ll look back on Mbappe’s decision making as a change in the tide for football. Player power is at an all time high, and I think it’ll only get considerably stronger if the Saudi league holds strong. Players will be able to hold European clubs to ransom over salaries with the threat of leaving. I also think that the Saudi league leads to a reformed super league which opens the door to a more global competition backed pretty much entirely by nation states… football is not gonna be the same again!

Incredible, compelling analysis! I loved how you not only explained the Mbappé saga, but also linked it to the broader patterns that have developed in the financial geopolitics of world football. What about solutions? What do you think of German style 50+1? If global football governing bodies cared, they could exclude any player who plays in a country that doesn’t have a well-regulated football ecosystem with something like 50+1 from international tournaments like the World Cup. That would make setups that facilitate sports-washing less attractive.

@@lenapaulsstepbrother2338at the very least with England, football is deeply rooted in society. Sure it was absolutely greedy but the passion was there. Saudi Arabia is not doing this for the love of the game, especially the state itself. They are using football as a pawn to help keep people distracted from what they are doing in Yemen, such as bombing hospitals and murdering innocent Yemeni children and civilians, along with the murder of anyone who dares disagree with the regime. And before you come at me I am Irish, so if anyone has a reason to make the English look as bad as possible, it's the Irish. Mbappe has been allowed to feel invincible and bigger than any club because he's been viewed by PSG (and Qatar) as such an invaluable asset. It would be interesting to see him at Madrid, just to see if his attitude shifts and he recognises that the club is bigger than him or if he still feels this invincibility because he knows how Real shifted their entire transfer policy for years to get him and always has a Saudi Arabia move to use as a threat against them to get his way.

Some constructive feedback here Jim... the new editing is impressive and the videos are great quality. However, I feel this new style is less personal with the way you are narrating the storylines. It feels like you are not talking to your fans like you have last season etc. As a big fan of yours, it is a little bit weird... the most accurate analogy I can think of is when you have a teacher at school who has a great vibe and you enjoy their lessons. Then, when OFSTED come round, they act a little bit different, a bit more cold, professional and direct, and it's weird. This is just my opinion! Take it or leave it. The video quality and editing is to be admired for sure and if that's your goal then that's great! I would just add that in general, I imagine that your fans watch your content because they get that personal sense of connection watching your stuff as you are very charismatic with great interpersonal skills. In my experience, these new-style videos take away from these qualities of yours. Making it easier to click off the video. Don't forget what makes your content special Jim - not the video editing, not the knowledge (although ball knowledge on point) - but you as a person.

The most fascinating thing is that in today’s game we try and tell ourselves that no player should be bigger than their club but I honestly think he is. He has been the best player in the world for 4 years arguably and PSG is only the highly-regarded club it is because of Mbappe
@BKKLB
@BKKLB 10 ай бұрын
I think that PSG are behaving unprofessionally. Mbappe pretty clearly wanted to goto Real Madrid last year but PSG blocked the sale, and he signed a contract extension. The reason it was for two years was very obviously because Mbappe was unwilling to sign on for any longer than that. PSG went so far as to get President Macron involved in negotiations essentially guilting the young frenchman into staying. Mbappe proceeds to act in a professional manner scoring loads of goals for the club and besides not being willing to track back on defense, fulfills every professional obligation. At the beginning of the summer, he notifies the club early that he won't be extending his contract. PSG lose their shit saying things like they "expected" Mbappe to sign another extension, they "assume" he already has an agreement in place with Real for next summer. So they expected and assumed. And when he refuses to sign another extension (that would just put him back in the exact same situation next summer) the club decides to punish a player who has scored more goals for the club than anyone by excluding him from playing football. If Tottenham behaved in a similar fashion with Harry Kane, people would say Daniel Levy is behaving like a lunatic. Harry Kane has already refused to sign an extension. Imagine if Spurs refused to let him play for a year to punish him for not doing what he was told? I'm sure being a teenage millionaire has warped Mbappe's ego. But he has generally behaved like a professional. This all has to do with Nasser Al Khelaifi's and the executive team at PSG egos with perhaps a dose of animosity and envy towards Real Madrid. Right now, from where I am sitting, it is PSG leadership that are behaving like entitled brats.

Hey James, love your content and your eloquence. Well the way I see it is that Mbappe is just treating psg the same way they treated him in 2021 when he told them before the euros that he wants to leave and join Madrid and that psg should accept to recoup money, psg acted dumb and blind and never responded to Madrid. Fast forward to the end of the 21/22 season psg resorted to political pressure of the highest order using the French president and the emir of Qatar to force mbappe into signing the extension and what proves that was Mbappe letter of not renewing the additional year which was literally right after he signed the new 2+1 deal. Which literally screams out that he was under immense political pressure into taking that deal especially since Qatar was hosting the World Cup.

Don't forget PSG signed Mbappe on 12 months loan to start with because they could afford to pay his transfer fee that year. For me they "screwed-up" by giving Mbappe the contract with so much power and an option of 3rd year if he wanted it. The only solution to save face for both sides would be a world record transfer to Saudi. He signs a £600m per year contract but with a £250m release clause that activates after 12 months. He plays in Saudi for season then either he or Real Madrid pay the release clause and he gets his move to Real Madrid as planned.

I think where most fascinating about the Saudi bid and the only little thing missing from this vid is that the power IS STILL IN MBAPPE’S HANDS. After all these years, after a world record bid that has been accepted (of course it has it was always gonna be), and after one of the most horrifying contracts ever… mbappe still has the power. He can still just refuse the contract. Will he? I’m not sure. It’s only a year, it’s insane money, and he gets to go to Real Madrid for free next summer like he planned. It’s just interesting that even after all of this, it’s still up to him. He can still wait for Madrid. And to me that’s a good thing. Clubs shouldn’t be allowed to dictate a persons entire career. These are people not commodities

If the player wants to play until the end of the contract and leave as a free agent there's nothing wrong at all.

Lucky that only PSG involved in this stupid money football. As long as the players like jude bellingham, pedri still around 100m football still saveable.

Crazy how these College Graduates are being outsmarted by a supposedly high school brain. Just shows how flawed the Education System is. 😂😂😂😅😅😅❤❤

I think this is one where only PSG fans and teams that don't want Mbappe to go to Real Madrid will feel sorry for them. Everyone else is finding it ironic.

It’s not a troll, the Saudis are literally threatening world football. They are signalling to the world that if they don’t get a seat at the table when a new Super League comes around they are going to offer so much money to the best players in the world that all the richest clubs won’t be able to compete.

No sympathy for psg, he played them like a fiddle and they let him. So fair play the him, he’s just been smart. All he’s doing right now is saying, listen; I’m going to the club I want to go to, not the club that bid the highest and lines you’re pockets. I want to be at madrid, work out a deal with them and let me go now or I’ll stay for another 12 months and go for free. (Which psg don’t want to happen) but they can’t have it both ways.

What governing body can actually do anything about this? I pray for regulations, but nothing is going to happen. Football will eventually it eat self and collapse, this kind of money is not sustainable. It’s stuff like this that makes me pleased I support a league 2 club.

This entire saga comes down to the fact that PSG was trying to big dawg the biggest fish in Real Madrid. It just shows you never actually win against them even if you’re backed by a monarchy. Cuz now we are at the point where Perez is just waiting for PSG and Nasser to swallow their pride and tuck their Qatari tails between their legs and call HIM🤣 He hasn’t forgotten them ghosting his €200m bid. This might take another couple weeks out of pure Parisian embarrassment.

Every player who goes to these nation state clubs with no history, just a boatload of cash, IS THERE FOR THE BOATLOAD OF CASH. Why is this suprising anyone?? Also, he is perfectly within his rights to exercise a player option or not. It was HIS decision and PSG chose to include that player option in the contract. Imagine if your boss offered you such a great deal and then suddenly changed conditions on you because you're not willing to extend your contract that still has time left on it, would you be happy about that?? He has trained professionally as always and says he's available to play because he's under contract and he wants to see it out. If PSG don't wanna play him, it's their choice, but that don't mean they can't pay him what he's contractually owed. It's been 2 years since he requested a transfer and PSG turned down 200 million two summers ago. They gave him a contract no one would refuse and are now surprised he's unwilling to end it before it's expired just to save his employer some money because they made ridiculously stupid and miscalculated business decisions?? Give me a break.
