The weird thing is, according to the game files, both the system and the ship are referred to as being the lost swarm system and lost swarm ship, implying that they were once part of a larger swarm before being separated somehow. Additionally, there are two barren worlds in that system, both of which having a terraform candidate modifier. Finally, there is a shattered world in that system that, according to its description in the game files, was shattered by a strong burst of energy. All of this connects this locust in some way to the prethoryn scourge, as once they are defeated a few swarms of them remain in the galaxy, but separated from the rest of the swarm. Additionally, after prethoryn infest worlds, once those worlds are bombarded back they become barren worlds with a terraform candidate modifier. What I think this implies is that a previous prethoryn invasion of the galaxy did occur, but it was fought back by many empires, perhaps even the fanatic xenophobic fallen empire given the shattered world, and now only a nascent remnant of the swarm exists on the last habitable planet of the system.

@@pixellover2795 This theory is further supported by the fact that, following a repelled prethoryn invasion, feral swarmling fleets can spawn from previously infested worlds. This locust swarmling in the Ubogleet system is very likely just a final surviving member of a feral swarm fleet from a previously repelled invasion.

Pretty sure this is too late in advance for anyone to care, but I found definitive evidence that this is definitely a Prethoryn Scourge ship, as its weaponry is all Prethoryn Swarm Strikers, which is why it has a fleet power of around 5k despite only being a single ship. Sorry for the necroposting, just found this out and wanted to mention it.

It's actually not entirely unique, and has two other appearances, both of which allow you to own it. One is an incredibly rare anomaly that can only appear on continental and gaia worlds, which will lead to a system with an old battlefield, and then by random chance you can find derelict ships there to add to your navy, all with special ship models, this one among them. There's also the Adrift anomaly event where you find a ship and get the choice to strip it down and study its engines, or turn it into a science ship, if you choose the latter it will have this design.
