I also want Minnie & Moskowitz to get a blu-ray- hopefully Criterion to go along with Cassavetes' other films, though Kino released Gloria. I watched it on The Criterion Channel a couple years ago and really enjoyed it.

Robert Conrad plays the real life jewel thief Jack Roland Murphy and I don't believe it has ever been released on DVD let alone Blu-ray. Maybe one day!

Brian, the French label Carlotta has the best blu-ray edition of "The Intruder" with its English audio track and optional French subtitles, also the correct aspect ratio.

Still surprised CQ isn't on blu. Saw this in the theater, I bought both the soundtrack and eventually the DVD as soon as they were released. Aesthetics alone are top notch, and it has a fun story.

THE HEARTBREAK KID reminds me of more Neil Simon movies that need bluray upgrades---THE CHEAP DETECTIVE, CHAPTER TWO, CALIFORNIA SUITE, THE STAR SPANGLED GIRL, MAX DUGAN RETURNS and THE SLUGGER'S WIFE!

CALIFORNIA SPLIT is a great one....another gambling movie that needs a release is LOOKIN' TO GET OUT!

Really enjoy videos like this. I don't think I was familiar with any of these. Some sound really good. Will have to try to check them out, especially Shoot to Kill, American Splendor, Tape, and Heavy. Shoot to Kill kind of sounds similar to Hunted.

Mangold actually got the rights back to HEAVY. He's the one who put it up on Netflix streaming. It can be licensed directly from him for streaming, so either no one has contacted him about it or he wants more for a license fee than anyone wants to pay.

I'd buy California Split, Heartbeak Kid and Hot Pursuit for sure. I'll have to look into the others. The Night Before would be another fun 80s comedy.

So great seeing THEY ALL LAUGHED, MINNIE & MOSKOWITZ and CQ getting some attention (I love love love CQ). These definitely need Blu-rays. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but after recently trying to watch my copy of THEY ALL LAUGHED, the disc froze up about two thirds of the way through (chapter 10, I think). I was able to track down another copy--a brand-new one still in shrinkwrap, no less--and that one ALSO froze up at approximately the same spot. So I'm wondering if there was some authoring glitch that's incompatible with modern Blu-ray players? I also had a similar issue with multiple copies of THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP (on multiple players). If anyone else has had this problem, I'd love to know, since this is something that's pretty much impossible to Google!

A lot of nice choices here.I can never decide if should try and pick up the sometimes expensive DVD or just wait for the bluray we may never get.

I could definitely see Kino Lorber releasing many if these titles on Blu-ray or 4K.

Anchor Bay Entertainment came back into business earlier this year but no longer has the rights to their previous catalog. Hopefully any rights issues get cleared up for some of their previous releases. A film I'm looking forward to that I gave up hope of getting a Blu-ray is Gung Ho which finally got announced by Kino Lorber. Two other mainstream releases I'm hoping get picked up are the John Candy comedy Summer Rental and the Tony Danza comedy She's Out Of Control. My next import will be the Tom Hanks & John Candy comedy Volunteers which appears to have a Blu-ray release in Germany.

Amy Heckerling's I COULD NEVER BE YOUR WOMAN is also another lost gem. But I concur about JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY, and would add WISE GUYS with Piscopo and directed by De Palma!

Great list. I would add Stepford Wives to the pile. Its not perfect (had Polanski done it, who knows) but conceptually its influence is still felt today. Very much a paranoid Invasion of the Body Snatchers type movie post womens lib. I would also like a proper release of Splash here in North America.

Seems weird that American Splendor never got a Blu. It must have come out just before Blu-Ray started being made.

Man… wish I enjoyed “California Suite” as much as you. Felt it was just a crummy film with dislikable characters. I’m possibly the only person on earth that prefers the remake of “The Heartbreak Kid”. Surprised the owners of the original don’t sell it off as they aren’t making a dime off of it these days. “Minnie & Moskowitz” is a classic. Criterion must have interest in releasing that if it’s available. HBO has somehow locked up nearly all of their productions. “They All Laughed” needs a bigger audience. “Johnny Dangerously”, “Night Shift” and “Mr Mom” classic Keaton. Very strange it’s not been released. No idea how “CQ” hasn’t been released yet. Would look stunning in 4K. Really enjoyed how Roman Coppola blended so many genres to make a unique film. Doesn’t get talked about enough imo. “Hot Pursuit” is definitely a lost one too. A good one in Cusack’s filmography. Can’t remember “How I Got Into College” at all. Lots of variations on that theme from around that time. “Shoot To Kill” eluded me. “American Spendor” like “Ghost World” and “Crumb” deserves a Criterion release especially since Harvey recently died. Haven’t seen “Tape”… just watched his recent movie “Hitman”… I’ll check that out! Also a fan of “The Intruder”… seems like Shout Factory could do this as a limited edition. Great wrap up!!
