So great seeing THEY ALL LAUGHED, MINNIE & MOSKOWITZ and CQ getting some attention (I love love love CQ). These definitely need Blu-rays. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but after recently trying to watch my copy of THEY ALL LAUGHED, the disc froze up about two thirds of the way through (chapter 10, I think). I was able to track down another copy--a brand-new one still in shrinkwrap, no less--and that one ALSO froze up at approximately the same spot. So I'm wondering if there was some authoring glitch that's incompatible with modern Blu-ray players? I also had a similar issue with multiple copies of THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP (on multiple players). If anyone else has had this problem, I'd love to know, since this is something that's pretty much impossible to Google!

Very excited to get my copy of Bad Company. Feels very much like a Fun City movie. It will be a first time watch for me. Going to pair it with The Culpepper Cattle Co. Heavenly Bodies and Paradise feel like Fun City taking something away from Vinegar Syndrome somehow. Either way exciting news. Although, gotta say, no Blankenship on the Heavenly Bodies disc?! Isn't he like the leading expert on that movie? Guess he was not available.

Not sure if I've seen this one before, but definitely one to pick up. American Westerns of this period don't seem to be appreciated or talked about much, but I think these "Revisionist Westerns" are interesting. Always liked "Solder Blue" (1970) which I recently pick up on a new Blu Ray. Hoping that another favourite of mine "Dirty Little Billy" (1972), will also get an upgrade from dvd. A very muddy recreation of the early days of Billy The Kid starring Michael J Pollard, with early roles for Nick Nolte and Gary Busey.

I need to pick this one up! I preordered Heavenly Bodies solely on how you guys talked about it on the pod. Thanks, dude!!

BTW, Paradise is awful. Sure Phoebe Cates gets nekkid....but so does Willie Aames (barf!)

My main interest in Bad Company is the presence of Damon Douglas, the Ed Begley Jr. lookalike also in Massacre at Central High and From Noon To Three. He seemed to specialize in gang members who realize doom is coming for them before anyone else does!

Wow! Thanks, Brian. After you showed and talked about 12:01, I found it online and watched it. I really loved it. I've been a fan of Helen Slater since seeing her in Supergirl, and recently also saw and enjoyed her movie The Legend of Billy Jean. But I definitely missed her in this made-for-tv movie. I'll be looking for it in thrift stores now, but hopefully, Kino will bring it out on blu ray soon.

Don't think I was familiar with any of these. Added a few John Sayles titles to my watchlist. 12:01, Midnight Madness, Tapeheads, and Jerry and Tom were added to list too. All seem good. Look forward to checking the out. Great video and list.

Some great suggestions in need of blu ray releases here, thanks. I would also add Wired to Kill (aka Booby Trap) 1986 which I can only find on VHS or on KZfaq. Also, The Night Before (1987), starring Keanu Reeves, which I can only find on DVD and on KZfaq.

I have a Region B German Blu-ray of DOWN WITH LOVE. It looks great but you’ll want to hang on to your DVD for the extras.

I still wish Criterion would release the uncut versions of Cornel Wilde's THE NAKED PREY (the deleted 'cooking' scenes) and THE HARRAD EXPERIMENT (Tippi Hedron's nude scene taunting a young Don Johnson). Those are reasons to keep the VHS tapes, along with THE CHINA LAKE MURDERS as well as the AIP (American International Pix) "divorce" five-some like INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN, etc.)...

You know I’m down with any Sayles films getting Blu-ray releases. The intruder’s print looks really good. Keep pushing the pleas for better prints. Keep up the great work sir. I have a dvd of amigo which was made as an educational release for reference libraries on the US-Philippine war. I did a review of it on my channel. It’s a wonderful film, not surprisingly. Hard to believe it’s 11yrs since go for sisters.

Hi Brian. Great picks for upgrades. I know you mentioned in your earlier video but I'd love to American Splendor (2003) with Paul Giamatti get a blu-ray upgrade (and extra features including maybe full Harvey Pekar segments on Letterman). It's a long shot but would love it. Also would be great to see Stunts (1977) get a blu-ray release.

Love the TAPEHEADS / REPO MAN comparison, those films could absolutely be set in the same world; Kevin the Nerd would definitely be a Blender Children fan. A boutique blu ray would have its work cut out for it upping the Anchor Bay release, would need to include the Swanky Modes CD for sure. Great picks, the lack of love for DOWN WITH LOVE is something I will never understand.

Love this spin-off series of your usual blu-ray reviews because they don't cost me any money! Keep 'em comingI I can't afford to watch your regular reviews very often because I wind up buying every movie you talk about! But I can share your pain over movies not out on blu-ray. I'm much less likely to watch stuff on streaming or DVD, it would have to be really important and urgent or not likely to benefit from Blu-ray because of poor native quality, or all 3 like Dark Shadows (144 DVDs back-to-back and I'd do it again!) Who knows, maybe the right person will hear your complaints and get some of these titles released!
