The vertical trim on the door that you cut the stone to go around, why didn't you just cut the wood and slide the stone under it? This is a common practice in laying wood floors or tile. Either way it looks great.

That’s structural beams that support the frame cutting them would weaken the window structure

@@myfrenchhomestead oh, ok. I thought it was just a piece of trim. I went back to the "door video" and saw how it was done. I just assumed that there was a lentil above. But with an old old house, I guess you can never assume anything. Thanks for the reply.

Why covering up those beautiful stones,or raise them with another layer of lauze stones. Regarding floors you can get plenty of reclaimed ancien tomettes in all beautiful sizes and natural colours. Natural, ecological, recycled, appropriate for an old buildings and recycled. The reclamation is in Fumel. Better than polyurethane.
