The Ronaldo vs Ten Hag was more or less a Glazer nonsense along with lack of communication from both player and manager as well. I still remember when the club's website said that "Ten Hag is adamant about keeping Ronaldo" last year when we all know that Ten Hag's style clearly wasn't for Ronaldo. No offense to anyone but Ronaldo was never a fan of this short passing tactics. He even criticised it once. Plus United failed UCL qualification which is a necessity for him. The prediction became truth when Jorge Mendes went to every top club asking them to sign Ronaldo for mere 80k wages but none came forward. Even FC Barcelona was one of them! It showed that Ronaldo wanted out and he doesn't give a damn which club wants him. The real problem began when season started. Ten Hag wanted Ronaldo but not as a starter. The lack of communication between both caused the issue to turn out like this. The thing here is that most people would say that Ronaldo begging every club to sign him and not showing up in preseason and later getting benched is something that serves up like a justified punishment but the thing is that he is a club legend. He made this as a young player. He came back and was the top scorer for them last season and he is a very big player. So a moderator was needed. And here, the moderator should've been glazers. But they were too busy racking up the Ronaldo jersey money and other bs. Had Ronaldo terminated his contract instead of staying as he wasn't interested in staying? Had Ten Hag been clear to Ronaldo as being a substitute? Had Ronaldo been professional instead of the whole Piers Morgan interview? Had Ten Hag given Ronaldo chances instead of straight away benching him? I guess we'll never know.
