A quite young Christian missionary got onto the island. Twice he was repelled. The third time the islanders killed him. Since India prohibits any one going to the island, he was breaking the law. I think prayer would have been a better conversion tactic. I also think his youth hampered his judgment. After all, there are so many other places to go on mission (to convert).

You still need to be protected from the tribe. They are so hostile to outsiders they’ll attack you on sight. They recognise neither friend nor foe. But yes, protection from us is probably a good idea.

Number 7, that tribe will kill anyone who tried to come on the shores, they killed two men who tried to come by boat, as soon as they came onto the shores they didn't make it but only a few hundred feet before being killed by the tribe. Their bodies were found laying on the shore as was their small boat. Those people don't want any interaction with any outsiders. It's fascinating tribes like this still exist

I love that first one. The cave and markings are absolutely amazing to see. But even if I could afford to go there I wouldn't because it needs to be protected. And also I'm perfectly happy seeing it on camera. Especially since you probably get a better view with cameras too.

The TV shows Scariest Places on Earth and Ghost Adventures filmed episodes on Poveglia Island. Between dumping Black Plague victims on the island and a mental asylum where the doctor carried out horrific experiments on the patients, I'm not surprised they can't refurbish/repurpose any of the buildings there. The island is covered in ashes from cremated bodies and mass burial pits. It doesn't sound like a great place for a resort, does it?

roguesquatcher I mean you are not allowed to travel beyond specific designated zones, no matter how well equipped. Nor can commercial jets fly over the continent, rather they must fly around it for one reason or another.

IndigoXYZ18 I worked there for 6 years flying scientists and oil research crews to various mobile outposts, there wasn't much I haven't seen there. Only places kind of "off limits" are the German and Russian military facilities, we flew crews to and from them but I never entered the buildings

roguesquatcher I mean it's an entire continent, I don't know that it's intellectually honest to say there isn't much you haven't seen. That being said, my point was that there are no private ventures into Antarctica allowed, nor are private / commercial flights allowed over the continent. We can debate as to why this might be (nobody really knows one way or the other, even the more reasonable explanations have just as much evidence to back them up as the idea of there being a lost civilization there), but we can't just brush over the fact that all travel in, out and around the continent is strictly government sanctioned.

I expected Reactor 4 (Chernobyl Power Plant) to be on here. While you can tour some areas around it like the control room, absolutely no-one is allowed in the reactor room for obvious reasons and the basement due to the nuclear fuel that's decaying in there.

The lascaux caves art are the most beautiful from the past. The dimensions and colouring are so revealing of how the minds of the artists naturally knew how to lay down the life they saw, the lines, the movement, the contours. We take them as modern art, but they are not. They are the experience from the living time gone by.

Not just one priest, but a few or more. Priests need experiences and wit. They also need strong steel of nerves: otherwise they can chicken out in the middle of exorcism. I have lived in a few haunted houses. I am ok with living with ghosts as long as they do me no harm. Some ghosts are mild and quiet. They are even thoughtful. I have one regular ghost for my guardian. I found him in the first haunted house where I was attacked by one demonic spirit. This guardian came in response to my prayers for deliverance and he has been with me since. In the second haunted house, I was disturbed on first night there. I awoke to find an unfamiliar ghost rooting through my belongings on a chair next to my bed. Afraid, I pretended to be asleep, while I observed a ghost examining items one by one. Last item he picked up was a pencil. He spent roughly 20 minutes examining the mere pencil at all angles. He stared at a pencil for a long time, as if fascinated by it. Next, he turned round to me. That scared me so much that I called for my guardian who immediately came and swiftly put me to sleep, while he sussed out hauntings around. Few hours later, I awoke to overhear the lively conversation between two ghosts, one being my guardian. Both talked about me. The other ghost was harmless. He loved nostalgic living human stories. Every smallest and most trivial thing that I did in life was highly fascinating to him, as my guardian talked about my character, habits, interests, etc. I didn't hear the end of conversation, as my guardian quickly put me back to sleep by the tap of his fingers on my head.

Fun fact about the island of Spitzbergen (mentioned in the video). During WWII the military weather station that was built there was bombarded by the German Battleship Tirpitz. Tirpitz was the larger, more advanced sistership to the famous Battleship Bismarck.

Heard Island once had an Australian weather station located on it, I think that it was closed about 1958. I had a friend that spent a year stationed there. By the way, Mawsons peak is 2745 meters, not feet.🇦🇺
