You can hate all you want, but I loved Pirate Paul Burchill. It was genius, and it could have got over if allowed.

Serious note though I always felt bad for Saturn, he always seemed to get the crap end of the group. Benoit held every major title as did Guerrero with solid pushes, Malenko was winding his career down anyway but held the light heavyweight title a decent amount but Saturn got burned. Yeah he held the European title and I’m aware of his “Mike bell incident” but even so the guy never really got given the same treatment

I don’t agree with some of these: Albert was above midcard when he was A-Train and he feuded with Benoit, The Undertaker, John Cena and Brock Lesner (also teaming with The Big Show). He was part of Wrestlemania X9 against the Undertaker in a tag and was a main eventer for the SmackDown brand. Perry Saturn got a decent push with his moppie gimmick during the Invasion angle. He was released when he went back to normal and became boring & the wwe didn’t know what to do with him. Mike Awesome’s 70’s guy gimmick wasn’t great but he had his biggest wcw push in that period (much more than what the wwe did for him).

Saturn, Raven, and Kanyon were amazing in WCW. WWF wasted all 3 of them.

DDP's last gimmick in WWE was a "self-help guru" based on his Positively Page autobiography with the catchphrase "That's not a bad thing, that's... a good thing!" Besides he didn't "walk away," he got injured in the ring and his insurance company refused to cover him further so he decided to retire. At least, that's what WWE Confidential taught me and what possible reason could they have to lie? o-O

I liked Paul Burchill as a pirate too. Hell, I loved Carl Oulette or whatever - former Canadian tag-team member - when he was a pirate, too! But I’m not big into pirate culture, regularly.

Repo man, his mask & mannerisms, reminded me of The Riddler off of the Batman TV show reruns from the 70s. Edit: after watching again i noticed Simon also thought Repo Man resembled Frank Gorshin's potrail of Batman's The Riddler. That's cool and I agree with Simon; as Repo was gold!

Burchill was actually booked to win the IC title as a pirate before he got hurt. He got screwed with an incest gimmick at the turn from RA to PG more so. Big Vito in the dress deserves an honorable mention. And I'm only at the middle of the video...but i gotta add in Johnny Curtis/fandango

Pirate Paul was awesome! And it was the implied incest on ECW that killed him. Also, Moppy extended Perry Saturn's career. He had a ceiling in WWF, so this was actually a boon for him.

Burchill's pirate gimmick was OVER AS FUDGE. He was charismatic in the role and the C4/Walk the Plank was sick!! The problem was with Vince (as it usually is), who was expecting an 'Arrghhh Matey!' type and was unfamiliar with the POTC franchise...therefor he shut it down with the quickness.

Right cuz Perry Saturn was the total package.

Mike Awesome was buried by Bischoff because he was supposed to drop the ECW title, which he held at the time, in the trash. Heyman stopped that from happening. It’s a pity though, Awesome was a brilliant big man. Just watch his match from the first ECW one night stand. Joey Styles wished suicide on him and he eventually got his wish.
