For number 4, the older Amy Pond couldn't go into the TARDIS as long as the younger one was already in there, so they couldn't take off because that would cause a time paradox. So the Doctor made Rory, her husband, decide. Rory chose the younger Amy that hadn't been left behind because they could then go forward with their lives and the older Amy would never have existed, and therefore they could escape.

Also worth mentioning: The people who were being farmed for their time/energy by the Weeping Angels in New York spending their entire lives in a hotel room The humans who were killed and reanimated by the Daleks, remembering their past lives but not caring about it. The old Doctor who lived in an abandoned school with The Silence, whose memory was so damaged he was acting out the same day over and over well years passed. The humans who had their consciousness restored after being converted into Cybermen in The Age Of Steel, their suffering was brief but truly horrific The John Smith identity of the Doctor who was given the choice of living a life that wasn't real or sacrificing his life of to save others.

You say you THINK The Family of Blood were probably not happy with their fate, but the son flat out stated they weren’t. One of his last lines was that they thought the Doctor was running because he was scared of them, but now he knows that the Doctor ran because he was trying to show them mercy. It was, for me, one of the most chilling lines from Doctor Who, both new and old, and definitely not any fate I would ever wish for myself.

"You should've seen it, Doctor. Furnaces burning, the last of humanity screaming at the dark. All that human invention that had sustained them across the eons. It all turned inward. They cannibalized themselves. Regressing into children. But it didn’t work. The universe was collapsing around them." - The Master's description of Utopia always brings chills for me. Also you kinda missed an important character as The Master's speech goes on to say; "My masterpiece, Doctor. A living TARDIS strong enough to hold the paradox in place. Allowing the past and the future to collide in infinite majesty." Sure, The TARDIS hadn't really met her fate yet but the amount times she's been trashed, ripped apart, cannibalised, punched, shot and even came to the brink of death when she fell into that Parallel Universe. And yet, The TARDIS has been through all that and still limps along to take The Doctor where they need to go and protects them as best she can.

I have three more scenes to add to this. The first can be described with the words "Are you my mummy?" and the second one is being turned into a meat suit for the Gelth. What was worse about the Gelth was that they tried to use the Time War to _guilt_ the Doctor into helping them and for a while it works until they reveal that " We don't want your pity. We want this world and all it's flesh." (ew. just ew.) The last one is the one that the Doctor himself casually dismisses, saying that the Weeping Angels are "the only psychopaths in the universe to kill you nicely". Well, there's nothing "nice" about being dragged out of your own time, away from your family, forced to live out the rest of your life away from everyone you love while some statue feeds on the time that you _could have had_ had you not looked away from it.

I think it bothered other people too. Cause both Clara and Bill just chewed his ass up one side and down the other for intending to violate their minds and taking their memories. I mean, Clara REALLY laid into him and reprogrammed the mind divice to zap his memory instead of hers. But Bill got him too. Because there was A huge hole in his memory without Clara that he was aware of but didn't know EXSACTLY what was in that blind spot and it really really unnerved him. Sooooo yeah. I'm thinking alot of people were bothered by what he did to Donna.

1) The Doctor: Having to live with being the Doctor. For all the humor and quirkiness of the Doctor's personality, what's lurking underneath occasionally breaks through the surface, and it is almost invariably this endless well of pain and suffering, loss and loneliness that he's been witness to or had to bear over the course of his lives. That's sort of his character underneath, the tragedy of who he is. The Doctor can seem callous to all the things that go on around him-- all the death and suffering other people experience-- but the reason he keeps driving himself forward, on the edge of madness, is because he experiences everyone else's suffering along with them, as keenly as they do, and has to carry it forever because he's consigned himself to the role of having to be the one who bears it. And he bears it because deep down he thinks in the end, if he can't bear up underneath it-- if he can't carry the weight of the entire Universe when it can't carry itself and do what needs to be done no matter the cost-- then what was it all worth? No matter how much he runs, how silly he acts, or how much he tries to distract himself by trying to experience the wonders of the Universe through the adventures he takes his companions on, the pain of it all never really goes away. The wounds never really heal. They just get hidden under the veneer of him being a madman with a box.

"I borrowed you." "Borrowing implies you intend to return something. What makes you think I would ever give you back?" ... "Sorry, do you have a name?" "Seven hundred years, finally he asks." "What do I call you?" "You call me... Sexy." "Only when we're alone!" "We are alone." "Oh... come on, then, Sexy." With each other is the one place both the Doctor and the TARDIS want to be. It wrecks the Doctor to have to see the TARDIS's life as a mortal being end, with the last thing he says to her being "please, I don't want you to," as she starts to fade away, and her saying "I love you" in return as she does. The TARDIS being the Doctor's prison would be about like me having to spend the rest of my life imprisoned in my dream house, except for absolutely any time I want to go anywhere or do anything, including hook up with a really cute guy and go on amazing globe-hopping adventures with him. You can call it a drug all you want, say it's as codependent as you want, explain how the two of them will always come back to each other. My simple response is that I chose the person I've spent the last twenty years of my life with, and he chose me. Is it a relationship other people would define as healthy? Dunno. Don't much care. It's the relationship we're happy with. There are things we love about each other, things we tolerate about each other, ways we encourage each other to be better, bad habits we encourage in each other, and things we're addicted to about one another. I'm a home-body, and he has a job that constantly takes him away and puts him in danger. It's not the life a lot of other people might choose, but I don't need a time machine to tell you that as long as we're alive, I will never leave him, and he will always come back to me. I found Amy and Rory's fate in The Angels take Manhattan a bit lame. Apparently, the Doctor would not be able to rescue Rory and Amy from the past they were sent to because the locality is time locked. There was nothing to stop the Doctor telling them to hop on a train and go to a different city and he will pick them up. Amy even left a message in the book they were reading at the start of the story. She could have left coordinates to be picked up. Also, in Blink the 10th Doctor and Martha were sent back to the 1960’s and that story ended with the Doctor remote controlling the Tardis to rescue them.

How bout the end of The Pandorica Opens? The Doctor gets incarcerated, Rory kills his own girlfriend, River Song dies inside the exploding TARDIS, and the stars in the sky go extinct. It is one tearjerking moment.

I can think of at least two from the earlier series. One character stepped on a type of mine that turned him into a tree - there were two others as well. There was also the end of the episode of the Five Doctors where the villain is offered immortality and he ends up one of the faces on the tomb or Rasolone.

Man, it's easy to forget what monsters David's and Matt's Doctors were becoming, like Matt straight up says it at one point "a good man doesn't need rules" and then you have to imagine he made those rules while David was on his "time lord victorious" binge.

Some of the fates in original Doctor Who were pretty horrific: Seeds of Doom-slowly turning into a giant writhing mass of green tentacle vines after being touched by the inside of the seed. Sara Kingdom's fate in The Dalaks Master Plan-being aged to death in the matter of a few seconds. Katarina's fate in The Dalaks Master Plan-purposely blowing herself out of an airlock to save the Doctor. The Five Doctors-President Borusa being permanently turned to stone in his mad quest for immortality. Tremas's fate in The Keeper of Traken-after touching the face of the clock (which turns out to the the Master's TARDIS), he becomes paralyzed and cannot stop the Master from permanently merging his decaying body with his own.

I would have also added Donna and every companion who died when they were with the Doctor, as well as Tosh, Owen, Ianto and Jack's grandson Steven (though they were in Torchwood and not Doctor Who). I also think what's worse than what happened to Singh and Diagoras is what led to what happened to them; after the Cult of Skaro exited the Void Ship, Dalek Sec asked Rose, Mickey and Singh who was the least important of the three and Singh nominated himself (effectively sacrificing his life for Rose and Mickey). Mr Diagoras meanwhile allied himself with the Daleks and he was told that his loyalty to them would be rewarded, only for them to kill him. And although I might not make this any better, but you do know that the Amy the Handbots killed was an alternate version while Amy from the real world was saved from them. It's also good to see that Bill was somewhat resurrected into the sentient oil (and not really turned into an emotionless being forever).
