Tri-heart doesn’t need the monster to remain face up or on the field for the monster to be unaffected. It needs it to have activated its effect in defence position. Here is a similar example: "World Shield" Unaffected by activated effects from any monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. The opponent summons "Black Rose Dragon" When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy all cards on the field. And then chains, "Compulsory Evacuation Device" Target 1 monster on the field; return that target to the hand. The Answer give is. Even if Black Rose Dragon is no longer on the field when its effect resolves, its effect is still treated as one activated by a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. Since World Legacy - "World Shield" is unaffected by the activated effects of monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, it is not destroyed by the effect of Black Rose Dragon. We can draw a comparison between this and the example in the video as it appears the monster will effect will be treated as one activated from the extra deck or by a monster in defence position. In the example with Tri-heart. Please let the judges know of this precedence and let's here why his doesn’t apply if they say so. The key here is yes talk to the head judge of the event and make sure to bring up anything of concern

@@josepharmstrong6852 I tested titaniklad v. zeus on Edo by flipping zeus face down before his effect resolved. Since the zeus that activated the effect was a monster from the extra deck, it still did not effect titaniklad, but it would have if zeus activated the effect after having been flipped face down and then up. In this situation with Tri-Heart, I thought that the effect could go through since a defense position monster would have to be on the field, but on Edo it works that tri-heart is unaffected, and it does make sense.

A continuous effect such as this would check the characteristic of the effect i.e., if a card activated in the grave the effect would be of a spell, trap, or monster. Just because the card leaves the grave doesn’t mean it wouldn't know what card type effect it was. In the same why the effect knows what card type it is it would know if it was a monster remember what attribute and type it was or if it was special summoned from the extra deck. etc. Here are both the effects which are relevant to this ruling. Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir ...While this card is in face-up Defense Position, change all face-up monsters on the field to Defense Position, also negate the activated effects of monsters that were in Defense Position when that effect was activated. Merc and Rindbrumm are both quick effects. Merc is not a trigger (if it was, then it would not be able to respond to quick effects, since you can't chain a speed 1 to a speed 2) They are both spell speed 2. The thing is that they need to respond directly to the effect they are negating, because they are 'when' effects, so that's why you have to pick one to respond with.

Yeah, Josh had a good discussion about it on his stream this week. Tri-heart is supposed to be worded the same as bagooska (it is in ocg) but for some reason reads way more vague in tcg. It does check where the monster was when it activated.

Well, that judge is unfortunately wrong. The Mirrorjade is not in defense position on resolution, thus it resolves and can affect Tri. Bagooska's effect is different, the effect of Defense position monsters are NEGATED, even if they leave the field - it also says so on the card. Your judge needs to check their credentials.

@@galzo Thats just not true. For example Laevatein (generaider card) tributes itself for cost, but it still cannot attach Tri-Heart as material since the effect was activated in defense position. This is coded into most simulators like this as well. Tri-Heart is Unaffected by activated effects of Defense position monsters. If it activated in defense -> unaffected.

@@galzo If it tributes itself for cost and then has a removal effect. If that doesnt work then neither should mirrojade, or pank or exiled force. What they were doing was countering the logic you were providing in that if its off the field then it doesnt matter whether it was in defence or not

Mourner only hits special summoned monsters. And if Albaz is summoned on your turn, then you, as the turn player, would have to use mourner first, and then they chain albaz.

Yes that's rather good one to know here is another you might not know. If arise heart is on the field or shifter is active and you discard tragedy for cost or link it off it will be able to trigger in the next chain as it is being banished due to a continuous effect.

There's a difference between activated and continuous effects. Titan says unaffected by the activated effects of any other monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. Bagossga is not an activated effect.

The mirrorjade can try to affect the tri-heart but as both effects where ACTIVATED in defence position which is all tri-heart cares about it will be unaffected. But other cards can be either popped or banished. But if you fail to pop then no draw from chimera as it's conjunction is and if you do.

Droll is a big thing rn so it's dependent on if your locals scene has a lot of people on droll. If you notice droll is in the side more then it may be worth it, if people are maindecking droll then it might be riskier etc

Crash a mirrorjade which was fusion summoned and trigger the effect to apply a condition in the end phase destroy all monsters on the opponents field during the end phase. This will then resolve during the end phase and as it wasn't an activated effect it will be able to destroy them. This may seem confusing but as there is a time gap between when the effect activates and when the condition resolves it will be considered not an activated effect.

Well here is an option if you can make mirror jade then you can send the albion to the grave for cost. Sent it in the ep. Also if you can get opening and sarinor and albion the main deck monsterin hand you can do the combo shown in the video to add branded fusion insted just add red. by getting retrubution + red in grave with the albion and sarinor.

If mirrorjade activated its effect while in defense position, then Tri-Heart will be unaffected.

@josepharmstrong6852 that is not how it works. Tri heart is only immune if it is still on the board. Monsters can leave the field and still be active. Spells and traps are the only cards that stay on the field during chains till completion. It's the correct play

@josepharmstrong6852 the banish only checks when mirrorjade chooses who the effect picks, since it is not immedielty part of the cost, it dodges the effect of being in def since it's current position is banish when it chooses it's non-target target
