I like to keep non-essentials, food and heavy objects in my backpack, and leave my chest rig and jackets for mags, medical and combat stuff. I quick-slot my backpack in the 9 or 10 position, so that way in an emergency I can put my backpack in my hands in a second and drop it, freeing up a lot of stamina I might need.

Great stuff! I typically keep ammo in my chest rig/shirt - medical supplies in my pants (less likely to get shot in the legs) and then I keep all "sundry" items like rope, fishing hooks etc in my backpack. If you have to ditch your backpack in a fight to gain valuable stamina for flanking etc then you will always have your ammo and medical supplies still on you and even if you win the fight and "forget" where you ditched your bag you can always find more sundry supplies.

The headache of inventory management is reduced greatly by improv shelters as well. There are so many advantages to them in addition to storage. For one it’s perfectly camouflaged if hidden well. Aside from burying stashes this is the second best hidden method imo. If you decide to abandon it and move on it’s no loss. All you need is some dank dark woods, a rope and at least one or two hatchets/saws/axes to get enough wood to build another…all of which are practically EVERYWHERE. Not to mention you don’t need to carry an improv shelter. I will typically have one in some far out remote woods positioned to scout nearby places. Using the iZurvive map in satellite mode will help you establish an area as you can pick out which woods are the thickest for this. I will have it so far out that it takes a small hike to get to and from loot areas and back to the shelter at the very least. This cuts down the chance of someone finding it or following you back to near zero. Especially at night, you’ll be out of sight out of mind to infected and unwary players. It sounds slow and tedious but this method is effective once you familiarize with a region. Have a set route and you can travel light and travel fast without having to constantly navigate or worry about road travel in the open. Free up space and only carry what you’d typically need for scout trips. One melee, one silenced gun, along with a compass and a looking glass of some kind along with some water and bandages. Boom. Stamina pool is up and plenty of space to start focusing on stockpiling, non essentials, and/or better gear. Only once or twice over the years have I ever had anyone find my stashes. After all, next to hunger and thirst management, effective inventory management is a must. This is also a good way to live on the move with short stays in a given area as opposed to base building.

I usually sort my items into 3 categories like: -weapon,ammo -medical stuff -other I put the ammo and magazines in the shirt/vest so i can quickly load my magazines if i need to. I put the medical stuff into my pants so i dont need to search for my bandages in the heat of thr moment. The tetra and blood bag is in protective case if i found one. (Also i hotkey a bandage just in case) The other stuff like food cooking pot and heavy stuff is go into the bag so in a fight i can put it down for stamina

Anything heavy I usually put into my backpack, then hot-key the backpack so as I can easily drop it if I need to be agile in a gunfight.

Good advice…my usual situation is my inventory is full and I have to take time to decide what to drop…always a challenge!

"There is always space in my bags for tetra.". YES! ALWAYS! Currently on the hunt for tetra because I keep randomly getting sick and I ran out.

With one bark and one short stick, you can make a fireplace under a tree, which is nearly invisible and as near as i know, lasts long as a dropped backpack before despawn. Just be sure you know where you set it, 4x10 storage; make as many as you want to in the same place, or wherever. Also, the stoves in houses that have the door that opens and shuts, they don't seem to indicate that they have gear in them if they're shut.

The pot takes no space, since it has inside the same amount of space that it takes in your inventory. Plus you can fill it with water even if it has stuff inside. I usually put repair items and use a quick slot for it. After a fight I just put it in my hands, drop it on the floor and fix everything.

You should do a video on all civilian military barracks and the loot that spawns there.

Just be careful carrying around the portable gas canister, it can blow up in your inventory if it becomes ruined, I found this out the hard way. You will survive but be knocked out for a while

Backpack i always carry trash in my backpack Because if i need to run for my life and have a stamina advantage soo i Can just drop my backpack And run alot more Keep in mind that a backpack protects items the most or soo i have heard Vest/plate carrier If i dont find a camo backpack i always use a camo vest as an early game backpack replacement Keep in mind a stab vest might be better for protection But it will only keep you safe from freshspawns or none fully geared players Since it Can only withstand low caliber shots to the chest like 9MM or 380 But cant handle 308 or 545 But always grab a plate carrier when you find one Shirt I like to keep my survival items in my shirt like a Lighter binoculars cooking stove knifes seewing kits Pants I like to keep ammo in my pants because you have the lowest chance to get shot there and i dont want to have a damaged or ruined mag in a gun fight or bad bullets so my gun jams

definitely in the eat everything camp. if you run across wolves or any pack or large animal, take it all, cook it, eat it and you'll be good to sprint around and not worry about food at all for hours to come

One thing I tend to do (mind you I only play high pop official servers) I like to build up multiple sheds in town and store stuff in those on top of storing stuff in the woods, rivers, lakes, and any other random spots.

i just got dayz on my new pc, used to play on xbox and ur tips have helped me sm. Just simple things like knowing multiple ways to make knives are a godsend

My inventory setup is ammo/mags/handguns in chest/shirt, meds in trousers and everything else in my bag, so if I get in a fight I’ll just drop my bag on the floor and gets loads of stamina back

I keep meds and an extra clip in my pouches on my vest, keep my mk2 on my chest to help block some damage to that area. An extra bandage and ammo goes in my bag, along with my lock pick and backup silencers. (Running m4 with a tundra on both my characters) and jeans are for food, an extra spark plug (just in case). I try to empty most slots on my jacket before leaving the base for any loot I find that I desperately need, mostly canned goods at this point. I’m heavy but I find having extra ammo is never a bad idea. 3 mags outside the m4 and a 20 stack of .308. My other character is heavier because of the grenade launcher. I have like 20 slots open max at any time because of the ammo and launcher

Food: you also use-up kcal faster the higher in the white it gets. The lowest consumption rate while maintaining the health regen sweet spot is just over yellow into white.

I try to keep my shoulders free for noise and profile reduction, but mainly as overflow for the rifles in my bag when I urgently need space for loot from a kill when I'd rather grab and go as opposed to sorting over the kill site.

I keep food in the white by eating items as I find them....especially mushrooms.

I've started dropping all loose ammo, or just not picking it up to begin with. Boxed ammo weighs less while in box and is usually I'm better condition

Most of my play throughs are the same one long range rifle one pistol i like to be as light as possible os if i have run or flank i have plenty of stama

I’ve currently got an sks and 60 rounds. A cr550 with mag and 30 rounds. Mkii 3 mags 100 rounds, bk133 40 rounds, kolt suppressed with 50 rounds…. I think I should probably let some of that loose 😂

Can you do a video on best servers with a variety and explination really there isnt many people making these types of videos i find finding a good server is key to having a fun time I played an official server for 2 weeks straight without dieing it ended up getting boring even tho i looted military areas and whole towns i still didnt have that much ammo or even a plate carrier

I agree with keeping your food and water meters high! I know it's more efficient to eat at yellow, but boiled fish is a lot easier to get than tetra. At the beginning of every life I also look for a small stone (or two), bones, two ropes, fishing hooks, and duct tape. With this list of junk, you can survive indefinitely on most servers unless a player kills you. Seriously, don't underestimate the utility of two rocks and the corpse of any person/animal that gives you bones.

I enjoy the information in your videos a lot thanks for sharing. My biggest problem is trying to get back to where I stashed things, because I can't figure out where I was on the map when I made my stash or was killed on my way to a location. Can you give me advise on this ( I am playing on a Xbox)

Normally I rather use bottles or canteens and chlorine tablets saves a lot of space and also cuts the weight in half and if you find duct tape and have multiple bottles you can make bottle suppressors for you’re sniper
