Thank you! BTW, I’ve heard not to use cast iron or aluminum pans unless there’s a barrier of parchment paper or silicone. Not using any processed oils has improved my food to no end-fresher tasting! No oil is the way to go (pls see Chef AJ)
@healthyholistichomes
@healthyholistichomes 9 ай бұрын
Oh, what was the reason behind that? Does Chef AJ talk about this? Because we ourselves wouldn't necessarily use bleached parchment paper or silicone.

What didn't mention too that olive oil and avocado oils are SO adulterated and not pure. Also, being Italian, we NEVER heat up olive oil! On salads, used room temp only. Agree! The reason I don't use my cast iron any more is that I have iron overload which in the labs, look LOW but really, the iron is binding to the tissues and organs vs floating in the blood. These pans were making it worse. And yes, I always cook with parchment paper on my aluminum pans (converting to my good olf fashioned hand me down glass :)

@@Jennifer-gr7hn absolutely agree with no heating up the olive oil. We only use it in cold cuisine. But when it comes to the quality of olive and avocado oils, we find organic cold pressed and even unfiltered olive oil :) The cast iron isn't for everyone, that's true. Especially if you have men in your house, because it can lead to iron overload in the body when used all the time.

I've only heard about the parchment paper in relation to preventing your food from sticking to the pan, but we don't use it at home because of the chemicals used it the paper itself. Also, we NEVER use aluminium for cooking. Aluminium and stainless steel are two different things :)

I was referring to some of the baking and molding pans that are still around. It is possible to find organic compost-able parchment paper-it’s out there! (Yes, one doesn’t want the other stuff-with most things nothing is needed, maybe a little water [never oil])@@healthyholistichomes

So do you use lotion and toothpaste and hand soaps from paper containers or how does that work?!
@healthyholistichomes
@healthyholistichomes Ай бұрын
Toothpaste is tricky. I sometimes make my own, sometimes buy the ones in glass jars. Same goes for lotion, though I don't use what most understand as lotion. I use pure oils like shea or jojoba that are easily found in glass bottles. Also tallow that comes in glass jar or tin container (less ideal). For hand soaps and shampoos we use bars. Easy :)

Hmm minute 6:00 with receipts. How do we know washing out hands after touching the receipts, aren't ushering in the chemicals?
@healthyholistichomes

There is a danger for personal care items. When the soap would contain dermal penetration enhancing compounds - some might. Like alcohols, fatty acids, esters, surfactants, terpenes & solvents like DMSO. However all the resources I’ve seen have looked at this the other way - first personal care item, then thermal paper. So I think best case would be simple natural soaps - like Castile for example.

Can you please link a study that states acidic liquids causes endocrine disrupting chemicals to leach? I cant seem to find a study that states this. Because i want use vinegar to clean mold, so i guess vinegar will cause endocrine disrupting chemicals to leach from a plastic spray bottle. I dont really want to spray my shower with estrogenic chemicals... What do you do when you clean mold?
@healthyholistichomes
@healthyholistichomes 6 ай бұрын
There are a number of studies available. Try searching directly on www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ :) But I honestly wouldn't worry about the chemicals to leach from a plastic spray bottle for cleaning purposes. I assume you would still splash the shower with water and not leave the vinegar just sit there. You're not going to ingest them and if you use cold water, there will be minimum vapour to be inhaled. If any :)

It's already amazing that you're using natural cleaner vs conventional cleaning product :) We don't currently have mold, but if we did, I'd use vinegar as well. And where possible in combination with baking soda. We had a bit of mold forming on our windows recently (the silicone part) and we actually had it removed and changed. Vinegar was just not helping with that as it was under the silicone.

@@healthyholistichomes I couldn't find any studies about acidic leaching of endocrine disruptors. Maybe I don't know how to use the search function properly but it should have found my key words. Yeah I don't know if these endocrine disrupting chemicals attach to things or just rinse away but you're probably right.

@@healthyholistichomes I have been for years, all these synthetic chemicals are turning us into women. We need women but we don't need everyone to be a women, just like how we don't need everyone to be a man. Estrogenic activity is destroying mens masculinity. Causing society to be weak so men do not stand up to the elites when they attempt heinous bullshit. This is all very intentional what they are doing to our endocrine system.

It does but we don’t let it make contact with food :/ it’s the safest option at least. I guess you could also go for solid oak which is self cleaning but i’d stay away from bamboo

fuck... just bought a bamboo cutting board 🤦‍♂
@healthyholistichomes
@healthyholistichomes 9 ай бұрын
😰 that's always a dilemma for us - what do you do with it in a situation like this? For cutting boards I'd highly recommend solid oak -- lasts a very long time if cared for properly and since wood is extremely effective at absorbing and killing bacteria, it's somewhat self-cleaning.

It can be a bit misleading to say things like 'plastic containers = bpa = dangerous'. Yes, BPA can be harmful, but the trace amounts of BPA you actually consume if you use plastic containers are safe. If you're worried, talk to your doctor, they've spent years in med school and are working off of information acquired from decades, or even centuries, of diligent research. In reality, you have a much higher likelihood of dying in an accident on the way to and from the grocery store than you do getting sick from your cookware
@healthyholistichomes
@healthyholistichomes 9 ай бұрын
We don't really agree, here's why. BPA and plasticizer alternatives are known endocrine disruptors. The biggest thing to pay attention to is cumulative exposure. So while individual exposures to BPA from a single use of a plastic container might be low, cumulative exposure over time will be significant. Most people use plastic containers daily and there are other sources like coffee cups, receipts, canned foods, etc. Also, a person doesn't need to be exposed to large amounts of these compounds for them to have a negative effect on your hormonal system. Then there's the wear and tear, people heat these containers or store hot foods in them This all further increase the risks of microplastic exposure and these compounds seeping into your food & drink. So unless somebody has specifically looked into this, is a toxicologist, environmental health or biochemical researcher or a functional endocrinologist they unfortunatley do not have the proper training or understanding how these compounds (or other environmental toxins) affect human biology. Unfortunately we lack proper long term studies of chronic low level exposure to BPA and alternatives. So it's best to use precaution.

"They sue t years in med school " Hahahaha! And learned nothing about such toxins. You can learn as much or more as they have by searching the internet and studying the documents on the subject.
