You can use a dowel in the center to easily align all layers and speed assembly

That's a great suggestion! I tried the dowel technique and needed to slightly oversize the cutout for the dowel, which still needed some adjustment. I also tried creating a jig to align the outer edges of a similar project, which seemed to work really well

Nice video, I saw your work before but not this one. I like the small offset layers, gives it a deeper 3D look. I am sure it would be much more pronounced if you added even more layers.

Thank you! Adding more layers would make it more pronounced, but the cutouts were starting to get really small. I’d make the pattern a little larger so I could add more layers

@@Tim_Ung I agree, a larger/thicker pattern at the start would allow for more layers. But I think for what this is, and using AI as a reference tool, it turned out great.

Great Job my man, Pity most people do not have the money to buy the software, even per month, but you could do this with gimp or maybe Inkscape?

Thank you! Most CAD software can design a project like this. Rhinoceros is made for more complex modeling, which is why is costs a lot compared to others

OP, I have done this myself in Inkscape as well as Blender. But, if I could recommend, learn 1 first. They are different workflows for just designing it. I use both because I 3D print mine instead of using a laser engraver, so I cannot just use Inkscape.

Rhino was a strange choice. You can definitely use Inkscape to do this, and in all honesty (based on what I'm seeing) even better than Rhino. Though in all honesty, if you already know the workflow for a specific software, then you may as well use it.

Thanks! I get a lot of comments from both perspectives - good and bad - about AI. It's good to hear everyone's perspective and I'm interested in seeing where the technology leads within the next few years

Do you realise that you're using a tool that takes people's hard work to give you that design. By all means be inspired by someone's style, work but you couldn't even be bothered and you design for a living. Awful thing is I do actually like your channel but let's get real about midjourney and the other company's creating a mammoth income off our hard work.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand your strong opinion against using AI and it’s sad to get a comment downgrading my projects. I design all my projects and some of my videos explore the use of new tools, which is what AI is quickly becoming. Thanks again for your thoughts and I’ll consider it for my future projects

The steam engine is a thing of the past, as well your archaic ideas regarding what is "morally acceptable art." Please get a life and simply enjoy what you do and stop bashing others for using tools that are available to them. It's very unbecoming.

It’s inspiring to see someone create an amazing piece of art in such “heavy” C.A.D software like Rhino. Especially since it was all done by hand and imagination. Even though the initial idea came from a photo and ai, it’s all custom work and wasn’t done by using “image trace”. Very cool. Great job!
