Nello graduated with a 63% average. He is currently a Junior legal consultant at an Immigration Services company and has been accepted to study his LLM in Commercial law next year at UCT (University of Cape Town).

I also studied my LLB at UniSA, I had a chance to go to other universities but UniSA was more convenient for me because I've always been a person who works well with a flexible schedule so a traditional university wouldn't of worked for me, in other words going to class on a daily basis was not what I wanted. I didn't struggle at all as a UniSA student, job wise I got my articles two months after completion of my degree. So my journey with UniSA was great but would I recommend anyone to take the same route well be ready to be belittled most of the time especially in practice but what people don't know is that UniSA students are very hardworking lol having to teach yourself 40 modules gives you that attribute and I use that to my advantage every day at work 🙂 Gosh I want to share a lot about my journey, so wish I could be part of this discussion. I love your channel, keep doing the good work 💕

UNISA is suitable for people who are employed, those who can't afford to pay for res and traveling to classes everyday. It requires descipline, focus, independence and for you to be resourceful because there's no spoon feeding, you have to be active in finding assistance when having difficulties, pursuing opportunities for practical training and so on. The only thing to get in the way of your success is the limitations you set on yourself.

Law firms and the Unisa faculty should have career fair for LLB students and guidance on what to look for and expect from an employer. Graduates end up in these unfortunate circumstances because they don't know better.

I completed my BCom Law with UNISA and I am currently in my final semester awaiting my results. I have studied with other universities prior to studying at UNISA and I can attest to the fact that UNISA is very much on par with other universities in terms of the standard. I can even further say, the expectation at UNISA is higher in that you are expected to work independently which is not done at contact universities. Another thing, at contact universities there are extra-curricular activities that law students can participate in which gives them the added advantage and thus makes them more attractive to employers but besides that, UNISA students are just as capable.

Thanks for the upload. I am a 2nd year Unisa LLB student. I think any university is difficult, Unisa is just distance learning. With Covid it did improve and we have been provided with online classes and hands on lecturers and Telegram that is quite interactive. In first year I was definitely alone but it was doable. What one needs is to be dedicated and put extra effort. 2nd year has been very tough since Unisa decided on a super semester, which really put me at edge along with other students, but I think it needs time management and passion.

First of all studying at unisa it's never been a easy journey, a person who studied there and complete the qualification is strong . if you don't put effort into your studies you won't make it. There are many challenges that unisa students faces than other students to other universities.

I think the work is good to work around it's just the inconveniences you get from the university. I feel like the uni is always under prepared for us. If that makes sense. 🙈 Some of the lecturers truely try their best to make things better but yoh. Love the uni though.

It's advisable to do your LLB as your second degree, if your blessed enough to be employed - do it part time if it's aligned with your career path. In that way, it's easier to negotiate when changing jobs because it counts as a bonus however should it be your first degree, just know your starting salary may not always be great unless you have a very excellent yr average and get a spot in the best law firms. Thanks for the vid!

One thing about UNISA is you will get the job on the spot 😂😂🤣🤣 we are given so much work and learn things that we feel are not even relevant. I'm really glad I'm doing my degree at UNISA, it's very stressful and hard but all that hard work pays off at work.

Encouraging content. You are going to reach for the stars I believe in you. For the law students and graduates that do not want to do their articles there's many opportunities out there. After completing my BA LLB from Rhodes. I became an IR consultant the salary was R 13k pm, with benefits R 17k. 2nd year consulting amount went up by R 5k. I left the company after 3.5 years. Did HR for 6 months the co promoted to position of National Employee Relations Manager won't disclose the salary but the average salary is about 50k CTC starting

also need to remember most of these varsities are also corrupted in the sense that they will tell you you cannot study there because of one point, i had my own struggles, applied numerous times and the last thing you want to do is study a different degree because you want that "varsity". I live to tell my story to my kids one day BUT UNISA accepted me when no one did and i am very happy about my decision. another thing when i suggest you do higher certificate in legal studies, thats what helped me, while was waiting to get accepted and when i applied again for transfer they said i'd have to start from scratch, imagine repeating modules of llb that you van be exempted from because you had already done legal studies certification. So in short my studying LLB with six first year modules (exempted from 4) if i had more money would have applied for 4 second year modules. NEVER GIVE UP. Familiarise and research about unisa and the groups for ne students through their portals, you can do it there.

Good Day Atli, Yeah no Nello's story is truly heartbreaking and painful. He has really struggled and it was also not so good to hear him relating about these people who were taking advantage of his desperation. They're so cruel no ways.😢😢 I still have the same feeling regarding UNISA hey... It's really not a good idea there study there, Nello's struggles are testament to that rather one goes to the Full-time Universities we all know so as to avoid such tragic experiences from occurring. But as it was said, life is not a one size fits all sometimes and so journeys differ.🤷‍♀ Great lessons learnt. Thank you so much Atil ❤❤ #UNISA

It's actually Really sad and so stupid that people view LLB Unisa graduates so low . We don't get spoon fed there you are a student and a lecture all at once that's some serious discipline . Giving my 2cent , I think getting good marks will put us in a better position because the university that we coming from has already compromised our position in securing articles which I still don't understand why. But thank you Atli for the Video ❤️

So I am working full time and studying with Unisa full time. I have a question regarding articles. I feel like it's pointless to get your LLB and not do articles and being admitted as an attorney or advocate. What are the advantages and disadvantages of not doing articles?
@atleganggovuza6733
@atleganggovuza6733 2 жыл бұрын
I think the chat here is that if it doesn’t come straight away after graduating, do something else within the legal space whilst trying to secure articles. My number 1 advice to Unisa students is if they don’t get articles, to do their Masters at another University and keep applying for articles. It improves your chances of getting in a good law firm for articles 🌸

@@atleganggovuza6733 Is there any reason why it's difficult for Unisa LLB grads to get articles? Is it because Unisa students are thought to be not as qualified as graduates from other universities? And if so, doesn't that disadvantage one who decides to study through Unisa?

So sis Atlegang if you study Bcom law or BA law at any private institution then after completing it you apply at public institution like Uj for LLB are you going to do it for 4 years or 2 years?
@atleganggovuza6733
@atleganggovuza6733 2 жыл бұрын
It should be 2 years, so you’d enter at level 3 LLB Please see link below pertaining to UP. I assume other universities have something similar www.up.ac.za/programmes/programme/04130012/year/2021
