I actually find meta ygo more interesting because a lot of meta decks are more mechanically complex. Yeah, I get the floaty aspect of most meta decks, but that's not what makes me want to play them. It's what made me want to play zoo, and it's what made me want to play kaijus. I still play graydle-kaijus even now, because it's still fun for me.

some of the other annoying stereotypes include --------------------------------- -girls dont play yugioh -yugioh is for kids -not having deck boxes or mats makes u a bad player -a meta deck meaning theyll never lose -the idea that nobody still plays yugioh -nobody likes the current anime -the game encourages you to steal cards from stores -deciding someone isnt a real player if they dont have a trade binder

For the lack of deck box/sleeves/ mat, I don't think it makes you a bad player, although I may suggest that person to invest in them to protect their cards from scratching and foreign debris like Cheetos dust and saliva clumping on them, especially at a higher level event.

I think yugioh is quite difficult in terms of game rules. I'm a game designer, and it is legitimately one of the most messy rulesets Ive ever seen. I still have to stop, and mentally map a chain, and reread cards repeatedly to make sure everything is going correctly. It's not unlearnable though, and it's not even intimidating because the rules let you play along anyway (technically you're cheating) but as you get more obsessed/into the game, you learn the intricacies. I think the true difficulty of Yugioh (and the one im still struggling with) is that you need to know your opponents deck intricately to have any hope of negging the correct card to shut them down (or whatever).
@daenor7807

Yugioh has so many rules because the rules are literally make to be broken, that’s where all the cards come in, allowing you to break the rules within the rules
@daenor7807
@daenor7807 4 жыл бұрын
Ok so the game is a box and all the rules are like more walls inside the box that only the cards can let you pass through more inner walls the more options and the more cards and the whole game is more specialized and personal and unpredictable and diverse, that’s where al lithe fun comes from; literally anything could happen
@joelfelske
@joelfelske Жыл бұрын
The rule set isn’t complex really. Not a yugioh fanboy btw just got into the game about a month or two ago and it’s took about 3 days to learn everything in the core rulebook. Avoid summons that seem too crunchy for you like link and pendulum summons. Understanding the rest of the game is very simple. The cards have a bit too much text - I’ll give you that - but those aren’t “rules” in my opinion. The rules are simple and the card effects are complex. But they are all clear, well laid out, and versatile.

My favorite decks are HERO/Neo Spacians, and with a few exceptions of links to counter meta, they are pretty much only fusions, so its cool because many don't even use polymerization.

I find everything said in this video so true. The lie about when people say that Yu-Gi-Oh! is dead and that it's for nerds really annoys me because it's obvious in the world that YGO is having an increasing fandom even if it isn't that clear. I'm a 15 year old girl from Saudi Arabia and I love YGO. I was the only one in my entire school who knew about it and played it. Sadly, that meant I had nobody to play with even though I just kept buying booster packs for myself. I eventually went to an IGN Convention in Bahrain in 2016 and I was able to participate in the small tournament there. I was surprised with when I saw many people other than normal boys playing. For God's sake, I saw a pregnant woman sitting down on a chair and was dueling her husband. My point is that people really shouldn't think that it's dying or everyone is a nerd.

creativity is a blast in yugioh, my favorite moment while playing pendulum magicians at YCS dallas was as a side deck option was put kuraz the light monarch to counter anti spell fragrance. going against dark magician deck i pendulum summoned him and targeted my scales, the look on my opponents face was worth it, it completely caught them off guard.sure it got solemn striked but it was still a fun attempt. its just fun the little things you can do in decks

5:22 This is something I've struggled with, wanting to build a Fur Hire deck (I finally have playsets of each card coming in). When I use it in Legacy of the Duelist, at a high level it seems like I'm just doing the same thing over and over: Get Beat onto the field as quickly as possible, then Recon and Donpa to pop cards, Bravo for more ATK, Rafale to excavate and negate if needed, and Folgo to get someone new on the field to continue the spam and potentially draw 3. This is an ideal play, but I guess in real life, I'd run into things that would require some cards to be swapped out or change who I want to summon.

You guys reminded me why I stopped having fun with the game as much as I used to. Ever since my team split apart in 2012, I had less and less reason to keep going. Even if we went to a regional together, we were going to have fun whether we won or lost. We had laughs. We had each other's backs. We always had fun playing each other. Unfortunately, a death of one of our significant others is really what lead to us drifting apart. 2014 was my last hurrah before Pendelums became a thing. Last year, however, was a bit of a comeback for me. I'm still not playing competitively, but I'm occupying my time with other creative cube projects. Before I quit competitive play, I bought three boxes of BP01, promising myself that no matter how much of my collection I'd get rid of, I'd hold on to those cards so that I could pick up and play with anyone, anytime. Now, I'm working on a "Six Samurai" format with various deck building guidelines and an errata'd gateway (changing it to one at a time I your control and its effect being once per turn).

I don't know if Yu-Gi-Oh is increasing or decreasing, but over-vamping production can also be a tactic if sales are decreasing, because it makes cards prices lower and it gives more access to them. More people would be willing to play if there's more options for them to make easier decks (possibly meta, like Pen. Mags. a while back) for an easy price. They may not have every single meta card in it, like Ash Blossom, but they're far more likely be able to make a good staple portion of the meta deck, then add cheaper substitutes.

When I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh! with Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the duelist it took me a day to learn XYZ and synchro not only that but build a deck around it. Pendulum took me minutes to understand and start using so it’s not that complicated but it can be overwhelming. Yu-Gi-Oh! Is so relaxing to play but I do have my downs I still haven’t really mastered the new mechanics yet but I’m getting there I pull it off more now than when I got back into it.

Hey, I have a video request. Could you guys do a video on the weaknesses of meta decks/really strong decks? I don't live near anywhere where tournaments are held so I cant go places to duel others much, and online versions dont help as much, so I think this would be helpful to people in a similar situation where we would like to build our decks to combat these decks even if we may not be die hard players.

Fun fact: My High School football team and Track team did play Yugioh, and two of them were really good. This was around early Zexal (Power of Chaos/Galactic Overlord) when they jumped in. One played Six Sams and Gusto, which was cool cause I've never played against it. The other played Wind-Ups and HEROs, but would use Grandmole in every deck and it worked.

My group of friends back in college ranged between a whole spectrum of nerdy/normy. I was the typical social awkward, one was a stoner frat, one being a history buff, one being a US Marine, and the last one being the typical nerd and all of us played Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, MTG, Warhammer, and D&D

I dunno about the Quilphort decks. I have an Odd-eyes/Magician deck and it's beat out 3 Quilphort decks so far. On another note there's no flow chart/set strategy for playing. I've been backed into a corner and came up with a on the fly strategy with the cards in my hand and on the field that got me back in the duel.

I think it’s a good thing to be a nerd. My friends and I are weight lifters, I was in the army, I have a firefighter friend, someone else going to the fire academy and we all love yugioh, marvel, Star Wars, etc all the nerd stuff. We all got back into yugioh and it wasn’t hard to get into, just took some time to learn everything “new” that came after synchros for us
@fogblades6811

Sorry, but I kinda have to disagree with the 1st "lie". While yes, you do not "need" to buy stuff like Ash Blossom to play a game of Yugioh, it is HEAVILY recommended that you should. I go to a locals every other weekend with a friend. I play Vendreads (it's kinda pricey, but not too bad) vs. my friend who plays Odd-Eyes/Magicians (Needless to say it was a tad bit more expensive to build). Nevertheless, he has more of a shot of winning because he had more money to start off with in this game than I did despite me playing this game for much longer and possessing more knowledge about the game. My point is that certain builds you as a player create can ultimately change the flow of the game. But what you put in those decks is was really matters. A $400-$700 deck will usually be better than a $100-$200 deck, unless that deck can be able to counter that "Meta" deck through an weird and obscure way of doing so, or just happens to just be the better deck overall. Money DOES in fact play a huge roll in this game; and if you want to win in some of these events big or small, you have to dish out loads of money in order to stand a chance in any format. I love Yu-Gi-Oh as it's own card game and as a series on T.V. I will always be a die-hard fan of it. I just don't want this game to just be a cash grab where the most rich player wins by default.

Megacharge Z Honestly, money is a deciding factor in everything, so I do agree with you to an extent. Although I can assure you my Blue-Eyes deck is capable of winning against most (not all) things, and it's between $75-175 Dollars (mostly because I budgeted).

Here's one I have heard in the past couple years. Traps/Vanillas/Rituals/etc. are useless. Not true. Each set of cards has an environment they work best with. Basically, a card can be useless if you don't combo or use it right. Even "battle traps." Granted, they aren't always going to be successful, but they do still see competitive play from time to time. The fact is, anyone can play a card, but knowing how to use it in the desired situation takes real skill.

What about when someone says that if you don't play meta you're not a true YGO player? I've had that done to me before. Though, it was satisfying when I trashed his deck (I don't remember the archetype) with my Different Dimension Cyber Gadgets. Trust me that deck is hard as hell to play, but if played right, devastation is the key word. Luv yer vids, even when they're a few years old. Keep up the useful information!

This is so untrue. Top players absolutely have to follow certain cards and steps to win, yes other players play other cards but still have to absolutely follow exact steps. It’s all combos everything has to happen at the right time in the right situation. Your deck is all searching cards because the only thing that can’t be controlled is the cards you pick up after shuffling and cutting

I run a version of Red-Eyes of my own creation called "Red-Eyes Burndown", which mixes Red-Eyes Burn elements with Dragon Beatdown, supporting Flare Metal with Galaxy-Eyes, Red Dragon Archfiend and White Night Dragon (all Monsters with 3000 ATK) and powering them all up through Solidarity! And then there are the stronger Monsters! I also run both a Destiny HERO Fusion, T.G. Synchro and Zexal Weapon which, between them, barely cost me, like, £20-£30! An expensive game? No creativity? Your Honour, I rest my case! Plus, I always say we're super nice to each other! When we're not Duelling, that is, then it's dog-eat-dog!
