for shoe laces you can also cut them shorter and using some electrical tape or else reproduce what was originally at the end of each lace or use the plastic tube ( the part that holds the ink ) of an old BIC pencil cut of short piece and put some glue at the end of the lace and stick it thru it and let it dry thanks for sharing your ideas :)
