£10 (!!!) - MAMOD Steam Tractor CAR BOOT BARGAIN - Will it Work?! - with Leon Hills - LEON CREATOR

2 жыл бұрынI thought my last Mamod Bargain was good - I got a Steam Engine for £3.00!!! This time though, I got a STEAM TRACTOR in Mint condition, another smaller Steam Engine & a Fly-Wheel, all for £10.00!!! My best Car Boot Sale Bargain of the year so far. In this video I test them to check that they work & give the Steam Tractor a run. I mainly collect 80s toys because they are usually the ones I owned as a child. This is a 70s toy & I bought it because I remember owning lots of Meccano as a child & I do remember seeing these Steam Tractors around & liking them!
I collect many different 80s Figures & Toys as well as erasers, badges, keyrings, pencil tops, magnets, etc etc - check out my other videos if you are trying to find something specific. Hi, Thanks for your comment! After running this just to check that it worked, I put it in a display cabinet & it will now just be a 'shelf queen' to keep it in such fantastic condition. I managed to get a Mamod steam roller at the car boot sale since but it isn't anywhere near as pristine. Check out my other videos if you get a chance. Yes I paid £20 altogether but I got the small engine from him too, so I got the small engine for £10 & the Steam Tractor for £10 (hence £10 for the Steam Tractor - it will always be one of my best ever car-boot sale bargains!) They are so beautifully painted & intricate - the fact that it works is also a huge bonus - they have some power behind them too. Hours of fun ; ))

@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills in 2004 or 2005 my Dad brought a Mamod traction engine as a special birthday gift for my Grandad. I remember him bring it home and did not know what to make of if as I was seven years old at the time. despite Grandad steaming the engine up a few times he wasn't really interested in keeping it so he gave it me. when me and my brother was 12-13 years old we had a great time steaming Grandad's Mamod traction engine until Tim melted the water sight glass.

I think that even if the water sight glass is melted & even if it didn't run any more, it wouldn't particularly matter - these engines just look great & make fantastic display pieces. My BP to US converter says it was less than $13. If that is true, it is way, way beyond a good deal! it's a TE1A and should be more like $120. to $150.> Apparently, the shop owner didn't know what he had. $25 and some for the lot out of his car, then let you have it all for less than $13!! Are you sure they are not hot?

Yes, this was one of the best deals I have ever had from a car boot sale - I had never even seen one of these that wasn't old with play-wear & rust etc. So to find one that looked brand new, with a box & all the bits was incredible. I think he just honestly didn't have a clue how collectable these are now. He was a Wally not to have looked it up & done a bit of research (I never sell anything until I have double checked what it is currently selling for on eBay etc). Thank you - yes, I was really pleased with this one! I had a couple of the Mamod engines already but always liked the look of the Tractor Engine - just like the full-size vintage vehicles you see at steam fairs. This is definitely my favourite of all the models they made. Thanks for watching my channel - it is truly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your comment! It was a long time ago that I posted this Mamod Steam Tractor video - are you saying "Oil" because I needed to oil it in some way? I thought I checked all that at the time but I could easily be mistaken! I haven't used it again since posting - it just sits as a nice 'shelf queen' in a display case. Weirdly enough, I just managed to buy a Mamod Steam Roller from the same car-boot sale & also for £10.00 (!) though it isn't in as great condition as this one. I often like them just as much when they appear a bit more 'used' - lots of patina, worn paint/rust & soot makes them actually look their age. @@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills I do enjoy your channel. The engine will go wonderfully if you make a point of oiling all the moving parts and on the piston and cylinder a special oil, steam oil. I usually do it every time it's used.

As I collect so many different toy lines, I am not a huge expert in any of them - if I just collected Mamod, that would be easier (but then I would miss all the others)!
