@@marymarymillidweeb2661 Mary, I too am dazzled by Normans amazing knitting skills but I know if we take it slowly, we will gradually grow as we learn from him. He is the best knitter I have found on YT and already I am very slowly picking up tips from him. To be honest, and this sounds stupid, I find his casting on mind blowing but it looks the best way and so neat. Knitting is really growing on me but practice makes perfect. Thank you dear Norman x

I never imagined that I would be able to do it. Just keep trying and you will get there. Patiebce and persistence will pay off in the end. ❤🧶

I love combining crochet and knitting. I use knitted ribbing. On a glove, mitten, or sleeve. Crochet 'fake' ribbing doesn't look as nice and more importantly doesn't hold its shape as well as knitted ribbing. I've used crochet to pick up stitches on edges. I'm always looking for easier and quicker ways to accomplish the work.
@SoMagicalMichele
@SoMagicalMichele 8 ай бұрын
I have started combining as well. I had to get to a point where I was confident in knitting (I'm at 2 years of knitting compared to 40+ crochet). I'm currently using a crochet star stitch on a hat with a knitted brim. I never did like the crochet "ribbing" so I'm super excited to combine crafts.

Amazing tips, Norman! You said it was going to be mind blowing but I still wasn't prepared to *actually* have my mind blown. I'm still on the newer end of being an intermediate knitter, but I think almost all of these techniques are ones that I can make use of now or in the near future. I'm definitely not at the advanced level, but with how you explained everything I was able to follow 99% of what you said. I appreciate that your tips are widely applicable for a lot of projects, especially the cast on/off and increases/decreases. I can't believe how simple the Turkish cast on is, I've somehow never seen it before now. The combined cast on is a huge game changer. And the shaping possibilities with stacked increases!! This video is definitely one I will be revisiting in the future to reference. Thank you so much!

One of my knitting patterns literally RELIES on the fact I can cast on & off stitches on one side of the work (it's for a miniature jumper for toy figures). I've even used casting off as a decrease before I knew how to decrease, so decreasing as a cast-off makes sense too. Also, the knit/crochet combo makes my day, especially as I took up crochet earlier this year & for many things it's so easy!!! But knitting also has advantages, so combo work makes sense too!!!

You've got me so excited to get back into knitting. I've done some basic stuff in the past like knit and purl, scarfs and square mats and things but after watching many of your videos I'm going to give knitting in the round and hats and socks a try. Hopefully after I'm done with that I can try to move onto some mittens.

I am such a new knitter from crocheting ,that when it came time to bind off , I didn't know how, so happy was I to figure out this really easy way to purl and then to knit on the back side of my needles, so I just took my 2.5 crochet hook and handled my business! Not knowing how to do something doesn't stop me! About halfway through your video I reached a full saturation point , the nothing made any sense anymorel. So I am going to have to revisit after I use some of this knowledge from today's visit and get it out of my head and into practical usage before I can sponge up some more of your infinite wisdom. Thanks for all your help, Norman. Even though I had watched her videos and you made me believe I could do it I still had not got needles into my hands to do it. Now that I have done so there is a world of understanding coming to me.

I have the fox paws pattern and class but I haven't started it yet. It will be a new technique for me. I've been knitting for 28 years and there's always something new to learn. 🙂

I do both crochet and knit. I am just now getting into Tunisian crochet. The fabric looks like a mix a knitting and crochet. This video was very interesting and informative. I will definitely be referencing this video in the future.

Newbie knitter here- I am just amazed how you knit so close to the tips of your needles 🪡- It’s boggling my mind as to how you don’t lose your work! Another comment I would like to share is how refreshing it is to see a lot of information and techniques back to back with explanations and examples done so quickly because I think it helps to see ahead even though I am not very experienced. Its like getting the answers before I even start! Love your channel and thank you!
