He didn't sleep for 5 days because he was making '17', even after he got famous. That's what appeals to me. I’ve always found the hate for Gucci Gang to be overblown. Look at any list talking about the worst songs or hit songs of 2017 (and there’s probably going to be more considering it made the year end list for 2018) and if the song isn’t on it, it’s probably a dishonorable mention. I’m always just left wondering why people are getting so worked up over this song in particular.

That was me for a while. For the longest time I couldn't stand the track. I wouldn't say I love it now, but I appreciate the track and what it's meant to be much more. Getting worked up over it being an "awful" song isn't worth anybody's time. It's a competently structured song just meant to have some dumb fun.

Gucci Gang isn't bad to me because it's pure silliness and doesn't last long enough to get annoying. The song did blow up because of hate but any gripes I have with it are pretty much over by the time they start and it's far from the worst example of repetition in a modern rap song. "Walk it Talk it" for example has a sentence hook that's repeated for over 16 bars.....where are the complaints there?

Thank you for commenting on the X situation in a rational way btw, I think it’s hilarious that these extreme X fans find it easy to forgive X for admitting to stabbing multiple people and allegedly beating his girlfriend but aren’t at all willing to forgive Vic for saying the wrong thing. Of course he shouldn’t have said it but he apologized and moved on. He still has talent and every song he puts out shouldn’t get swarmed by angry X fans most of whom only showed up after his death.

Hopsin's "Fly" is actually pretty nice once you get past the preachy feel, and a lot of the people who just hate on the first line about college are honestly so stupid, Hopsin is right to look down on them, because they're just that stupid. A lot of mainstream hip-hop listeners are. He owns his condescension too at least, which you can't say for a lot of artists.
