Am I the only one to think that the ultralong upper canines in Sabretooth Tiger would actually have a somewhat negative impact on its ability to attack larger preys? It would have been able to put a larger prey in its mouth if its canines were a little shorter. Maybe that is why it is no longer around...

@@rizkyadiyanto7922 yeah. if that was the case then the american lion, the eurasion cave lion, the ngandong tiger, the american cheetah, the eurasian jaguar, and everything other ice age big cat that went extinct that didnt have sabers should still be alive, except they arent. and a lot of the last individuals of the cats i mentioned above, although not all of them, died out at around the same time as the smilodon around 10,000 years ago

Amazing video. Sabre tooth were dangerous. Giant jaguars were scary but their size got reduced due to lack of larger preys. Feels bad . Amazing video 🙂👍🙏💯

@@llllama512 Totally agree. Horses are much bigger and stronger than zebras. Imagine shire horse ( the biggest breed ), which can be 219cm tall and weigh 850-1000kg. It will just trample poor lion. Imagine if it hits with hoof.

Kimber the housecat- She attacks her prey with a series of hit and run strikes. Landing her devestating high impact attack and then running away to a safe distance to plan her next attack. She is good at staying out of range of her opponet. Timing her flight and fight responses with pinpoint accuracy.

Smilodon gracilis is the size of a modern jaguar, fatalis is about the size of a Siberian tiger, while smilodon population is 65% + larger than Siberian tiger.

@@MRLEE-of5fj It's not a close fight that's why, not the same weight class, bite force, size in general, senses and intelligence. Husky's only advantage is stamina and that coat he has that is thicker than that of your average dog. However in a 1v1 head fight, I believe the German shepherd will kill it under 4 minutes.

@@Temerityofficial21201 grow up kid...Tiger always ran away whenever he faced enemies powerful than him....they avoid those fights which could injuries to them because they know they are alone in jungle they have to survive alone till the end...but the Lion lives in pride they dont care about injuries during conflict if one lion get injuries during fight then the security of pride will depend on other Lions of Pride thats why Lion never backs off from the fight even the enemy is more powerful

There is no sub-species of lions. It's either the animal is a lion or it's not. For example, the barbary lions look very different from those found in India. And the ones found in Botswana also look different, but structurally they are all the same. Which is why the genetic studies of the American Lion reveal that it's not just a kind of lion but actually the same species of modern lions. So the original assumptions by the early archeologists were found to be correct.

Even if they exist they would have been killed by humans as there are the most strongest predators. Sabertooth could have killed any animal he see including lions and tigers. Humans would have been the cause of sabertooth's extinction if they were existing.
