A ranger does not get 40mpg in any universe. Especially a 4.0L extended cab one. And especially if it's lifted with larger wheels and tires. I have a 2.3 DOHC RCSB and I get 20 city. I wish it both had more power AND more economy, and as such, am considering a swap to a turbocharged smaller engine, or a diesel.

I just sold a 2004 civic coupe manual 5 speed with stage 2 bronze clutch kit a mugen wing and Si wheels for 3k blue title (only issue to the car was little body dents and minor scratches) over all fun little car hope the new owner enjoys it as much as i did

the celica that you showed actually makes 190hp. I managed to make low 300hp on one with stock internals😭 after that my engine blew & I decided to go the 2jz route. Then after thinking about how much work that would be I redirected to go the 3S GTE route💀

I have a 98 Toyota Camry, and it's legendary for its reliability. Check engine light on, the smell of gas coming from the vents when the AC comes on, the break light comes on and off until my brother put brake fluid in it, it leaks underneath, wheel alignment is off a bit, AND IT STILL DRIVES! 🤣 Just reached 222k too recently❗🙏 Edit: Can you do a "As a daily and reliable with mod/sport potential" series of these and include the 6th Gen Honda Accord (sedan/coupe 98-02)? 🙏 Besides the 7nth Gen Honda Civic, this is the other choice that I'm thinking of as a daily and a project car too. 😀

Can confirm Camry is an absolute tank. Got one for 3k almost 3 months ago in SoCal. 130k. Literally only did an oil change and maybe swapped out a couple hoses and belts. Really reliable car. On the other hand, my family has owner an 04 civic since new, has only 100k miles 18 years later and its always had problems. Burns and leaks oil like a MF. Constantly putting money into it and we only drive it like once a week 😭. Every other civic is good except that 7th gen.

I bought a 03 Civic EX 5 SPD 2 weeks ago with 80,000 miles and its been nothing but reliable. Only thing I did was an oil change, timing belt & water pump replacement for preventative maintenance, and valve adjustment. It literally runs perfect. Hopefully the headgasket stays intact for another 70,000 miles lol

@@BDA0531 manual transmission might be a little better, but the engine head leaking oil is just a matter of time before it goes out. It’s a design flaw from factory sadly. Look it up! I hope yours holds out. Either way it’s still a low mileage car that’ll last you a long time. You just gotta top off the oil every so often

@@jonsauce Yeah im actually quite familiar with 7th gens! I had a 03 LX 5 SPD for 8 months as my first "project" then sold it. Found the EX on FB market literally 4 days after I sold my LX and copped it real quick after seeing how clean it was. Even carfax shows previous owners kept up with maintenance. Ik 7th gens are notorious for bad head gaskets, overheating, and oil leaks but Its all good. All cars have their own issues at the end of the day

400 is the best car on this list by far, if you have a little bit more money to spend get a 430, more hp and better tech. same reliable lexus engineering but you're driving a car that competed with S classes in their primes

great vid but you got the 7th gen civic wrong I'm pretty sure the USDM only came with a D17A1 (1.7L I4 with about 115hp No-VTEC) and if you do want to grab one with VTEC grab the EX trim it has the D17A2 (1.7L with about 125HP with VTEC). Don't get me wrong I love the car I have one myself, 42 mpg highway is hard not to love, but just want people to know what to expect so the don't go "Where's my extra 75hp?!?"

Honda the fits have some of the stiffest chasis out there they can be modified to be great track/autocross cars. just not fast ones.

Honestly, we own one as a family car and have owned it for almost a decade. The A/C and heat work even at 300k (we bought it at 170k). It has been neglected a lot but it really runs with charismatic enthusiasm, 5th gens handle really well and ride pretty smooth. The F22 is a good boost engine being one of the bulkier, low rev, in Hondas heavier applications. I think you’d love it, whether or whether not you get a 5th gen with an F22B1 (Vtec) or F22B2 (SOHC non vtec) REPLACE THE VALVE COVER GASKET. A lot of people will agree that the fourth gen is the #1 classic accord, but the 5th generation is an awesome car. Hopes this helps!
