Fun fact: The Shining was one of the very first movies to challenge the theme of American Gothic by setting the movie during daylight the entire time rather than the occasional dark, mysterious , night time setting Gothic genres are known for.

The matrix is based on Descartes’ (not Plato) three waves of doubt- his sceptical arguments- which he mentioned in his book, ‘The Meditations’. Shawshank Redemption is the best film adaptation of stephen king's novel from his book, different seasons! having read the novel, its one of the rare moments where the film is better than the book! Highly recommend!

I always love how your enthuasiasm and passion shines through when you're talking about the movies and books that you've really enjoyed! I'm honestly really guilty of putting movies on me "to-watch" list and never quite getting around to them - there's a bit of overlap with that list and yours, but after this video my list has definitely grown too!

You need to watch spanish movies! Have you seen "contratiempo" is on netflix and it is such a good movie! I think you'd like it. Also the Orphanage!! It's too good

Camila Romero I LOVE Spanish movies and dramas! Contratiempo was amazing so was The Body by the same director. My personal favourites are Mientras duermes and La cara oculta!! I just need to learn Spanish now so that I don't have to keep on reading the subtitles and always wondering if something is lost in translation! lol

No! Nobody should ever watch Orphanage. EVER! This movie is scary as f***. I was forced into the theatre by my monster friends and I was absolutely terrified. Save your life from this nightmare... XD

I recommend "A Taxi Driver" if you want to learn more about Korean History and "The Garden of Words" if you like mysterious romance!

The Garden of Words is literally one of the most visually stunning films I've ever watched. Beautiful animation and background art at its peak! Anything by Makoto Shinkai is gorgeous and atmospheric, really.

I really love that as well as your look and style you seem to have some more substance to your identity, which can be seen through your personality, especially your book, music and movie choices! I've already seen ESOTSM, Rushmore, Donnie Darko (an absolute favourite of mine), The Matrix, Wayne's World and Ex Machina - and you've inspired me to watch the others - especially The Shining as I love Kubrick but haven't seen that one yet! Oh you just brightened my day ! We seem to have the same taste in movies :) I would recommend : There will be blood (my god the use of the lights and the music, such a brilliant movie), Moonrise Kingdom (an adorable kid love story by Wes Anderson), Farewell my concubine (the most beautiful love story ever told), Lost in translation, La Haine (a French cult movie), All about my mother, Old boy (violent, amazing, unique), and the very romantic Far from the madding crowd. Oh and Cashback, a totally underrated indie movie that I think you would like ! Have a nice week, and thanks for this top I will definitely watch it !

Especially when you got to #5, I had to pause to write this comment because we are def on the same wave length!!!!!!! I just lost it when you said The Matrix. “Pans labyrinth” is so dear to my heart. The story and the delivery presents a nostalgic and an intense narrative about a girl trying to survive using her fantastical mind in a world of war. I always rewatch it every year. Pulls at my heart strings lol

Thank you for this! I came here not knowing what to expect because I wasn't sure whether you'd be more into mainstream media or if you'd have an appreciation for other more abstract and not so contemporary pieces. I definitely have some new flicks to go check out now! I really like the more weird abstract stuff and also 20th century (particularly silent cinema)films haha.
