It's only the collectors edition release of Avatar and Avatar 2 that have the Dolby Vision encode on the disc. The version you showed here is HDR10 only (with the same Atmos as the collectors edition).

My favorite and what I would recommend? Ready Player One is the most obvious choice. The video game aspect appeals to the young. The nostalgia nd pop culture references appeal to the old. The combination of computer animation being bright and vibrant with the live action having dull and muted colors is a great representation of the story. While the Atmos is not really object based the mix is done extraordinarily well. There is a reason the race scene is such a common demo clip. The Incredible Hulk is a great one that is not Atmos. It's DTSX mix provides a brilliant immersive sound bubble. It has extensive use of the LFE channel but uses so much variance and at the right ques to drive home the impact. Picture looks great and is often the forgotten Marvel movie with a great origin story. Fall in 4K may be tough to get now as it was a Best Buy exclusive but I suspect a standard 4K release will come soon, so keep an eye out. Being shot on digital of course the image looks flawless. The cinematography is well done and helps creat the uneasiness of heights with it's Atmos mix. An Atmos mix that is not bombastic but subtle. The immersion it creates with the sound of the wind alone makes one anxious. Fury a sad story with a beautiful display of the horrors of war. Soundmix is a standout with chest punchyness of bullets, seat shaking thud of artillery, and incredibble ambiance of the Atmos from the creaking and clangs of metal inside the tank to fooling you there is a prop plance flying of your house of the fighter planes flying overhead of the scene. Coraline is one of the best looking 4Ks out there with beautiful stop motion animation. Atmos, while not crazy is above average and creates a good sense of immersion. A great story that will entertain the young and be thought provocative for the old. The Greatest Showman is a great musical almost everyone enjoys. Stunning colors with great music pieces. Oh and bass to flex your walls, The first Transformers is a fun movie. Love or hate Michael Bay directing style, you know you are in for some fun explosions. This first one has plenty of that some great CGI action and lots of comic relief to entertain most. The 4K looks amazing, wonderful color, Atmos mix is insane and real showcase for a good surround system. The Thing is classic horror suspense film that looks fantastic in 4k and really showcase the incredible practical effects. While the DTSX is a good clean sounding mix, it is from 1982 and the surround immersion is of it's age.

I started collecting when I got an oled and watched Lord of the Rings Trilogy on 4K. I thought 4K was snake oil until I actually experienced it. Now I'm 900 in... It's a slippery slope. Haha

The Thing looks like it was filmed last week... incredible transfer and movie.

But these are some of my favorites that people might actually know. I know most of my picks would be weird horror movies! Haha.

As a collector for over 30 yrs I still to this day prefer DVD Why cause there are a lot of movies that have never ever made it to blueray and you can find dvds as cheap as $1so I will always take a chance

Top gun maverick is the first 4k movie ive sold. Obviously its demo worthy for the transfer with its incredible audio and look but im just not a fan of top gun even though the original film imo is miles better. Edge of tomorrow is by far Cruises best movie to date imo. Top gun maverick bored me throughout. 😂✌️

Godzilla vs kong was aight. no where near as good as their solo films though.

Oppenheimer, great movie, great visuals, great performance, I will disagree with audio. All it is, is loud with lots of unnecessary LFE. Don't get me wrong thinking I am an old fuddy duddy that doesn't like bass. I have 3 PSA subs controlled/tuned via MiniDSP and can hit 105dv at 5Hz in my room. It is just used so often so strongly throughout the film that by the time the Trinity test occurs, it is just more of the same losing all potential impact that moment could of had. You say best 5.1, First no modern big budget film now days should be limited to 5.1. Examples of better more immersive 5.1 tracks. Titan A.E. (2000) DVD only and just compressed DTS. Pearl Harbor, U-571, Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl all from early the early 2000s when 5.1 was top audio format. Currently Atmos has been around for longer than a decade. Atmos or DTSX object based surround sound should be the standard. 2001 Space Odyssey I will agree with it's visual and audio presentation being amzing. I would however not qualify as must own. It is a love it or hate movie and so many don't have the attention span for it. I can't speak to Dune. I absolutely agree with you on Blade Runner 2049. Professional HDR reviewers say the picture is not really HDR but it was filmed so well it is still amazing feast for the eyes. Pacific Rim is a fun movie with great visuals and audio. Despite my enjoyment of it, I can recognize the story weakness from recommending it as a Must Own. Godzilla v Kong is a great visual and audio choice. I personally prefer Kong Skull Island. I find it to have a better story and the music soundtrack has me more engaged. Avatar Way of the Water looked and sounded good. If only the story wasn't so bad.It started out with a great concept and conflict to drive the story and then they just brought the same villain back and rehashed the same old story. If you love Avatar, ok, if you don't, don't bother, don't know Avatar, don't bother. Top Gun Maverick is a fun film. I don't think it's charm would work with out the first one. Mad Max Fury Road is a good movie. Atmos is better than average, but not top tier. Cool sets and glad to see the passion for physical media.
