That's definitely "The Friends of Distinction" in the video clip, and their cover came out in 1969, not 68.
@andreb.thomas5926Ай бұрын
No. "Grazin' in the Grass" was originally performed by South African trumpeter, fulgehornist, etc. Hugh Masekela...in 1968. The Friends of Distinction (lyrics written by FoD lead singer, Harry Elston) covered it for a hit...in 1969. Chao. Retired Vietnam era veteran, ex Detroiter, expatriate currently living in México and Colombia.

"Honey" i miss you. I adored that song as a child. It would bring tears to my eyes. Now, after being widowed for 5 yrs, after being married for 35 yrs, i feel as a small child that i experienced some of the pain then, that i would in the future. Widowhood is hard. I'd probably cry if i heard that entire song again.

Hugh Masekala's version came out in 1968 . The version by The Friends Of Distinction came out in 1972 . !!!!
@berwick77728 күн бұрын
It’s not that they were two versions of the same song, they are two completely different songs, one being an instrumental. The author of this video has mixed up the two “Grazing in the Grass” songs.
@clementjohnson266628 күн бұрын
@@berwick777 No , the fact of the matter is they "were" two versions of the same song !!!! The melody was exactly the same just the tempo was different .... and of course with regards to the version by T.F.O.D. their version had lyrics where as Hugh Masekala's did not .
@berwick77727 күн бұрын
@@clementjohnson2666 all these years I thought they were two completely different songs. So after reading your post I went onto KZfaq and listened to both songs over and over again, and I STILL can’t hear the same melody. So I then checked what Wikipedia said and it is in fact the same song. Why I can’t hear it I have no idea.
