The Wendigo is my favorite cryptid by far. There's just something about it that fascinates me and the fact that the legend of the Wendigo goes back hundreds and hundreds of years has me convinced that maybe it isn't just a story.

As an Eagle Scout, I've had my fair share of creepy stories... me and a friend were walking down a dirt road quietly at night. We both had an unspoken fear of something blasting out of the darkness in the woods and dragging us into it. Almost to dig into our biggest fear we heard a deep growl coming from the darkness of the woods similar to horror movies, it didn't sound like anything either of us had heard before and honestly didn't sound normal at all. We could hear movement but couldn't see anything.... without the courage to shine our flashlights in the direction of the noise we switched into fight or flight mode and ran back to camp. I have never forgotten that night, it scared me to my core... who knows what it was

I probably should have turned into a wendigo after i had my wisdom teeth pulled as i tasted substantial amounts of my own blood.

Terrifying tips about these creatures. -Never whistle at night -Dont say the name w*ndigo (it's the number one way to draw them to you) -if it smells distinctly like death, rotting meat, or blood, it's near -if it's dead silent it's near -they're known to shriek or call for help, and even laugh -they mimick noises and voices of family and friends PERFECTLY -if you know who it is, call their name, and they'll die within a few days -theyre extremely fast and vicious hunters So if you come across one... run like hell
