Grew up in north bay..grade school at Fatima.. high school at West Ferris.. lived on Marshall Park drive..I loved growing up there and had some great experiences.. but the best thing I ever did was get out of there..

I SPENT EVERY AUGUST ON LAKE NIPPISSING AT SANDY BAY WITH MY PARENTS AND FAMILY!! WE WOULD GO TO THE GARBAGE DUMPS AT DUSK IN OUR 1970s Station wagon ! MY DAD WOULD PARK AND PUT FISH HEADS ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND THE BEARS WOULD COME RIGHT TO THE CAR!! AT 8 YRS OLD IT WAS SO EXCITING!!! THIS WAS ALL IN THE 1970s!! WHAT A WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD I HAD IN CANADA EVERY YEAR!! IM 54 AND HAVEN'T BEEN THERE SINCE THE EARLY 80s!! SOMEDAY IM GONNA TAKE MY WIFE AND FAMILY BACK!!! GOD BLESS. FRANK, TOLEDO OHIO

Lol, it's not pronounced "douche" en "nay" falls, it's pronounced like: Do "shane" ee falls. It's really easy to say, despite it's misleading spelling, hehe, so I completely understand why you said it that way. Take it from someone who lives here and hears it constantly, even the French and Natives here all pronounce it the same. Great video man, as a person who's born and raised here, but also lived many other places in my life, I loved it. I always come back here, there's something special here that draws me back and it's not just nostalgia. It's everything about it really, not something in particular really. It hasn't got everything, it doesn't attract/keep the young, it makes them exodus actually, to bigger better cities actually. Lol. It has always had a problem keeping young people here and myself included when I was younger. We need more industry, the scale back of rail and the military base here just made things worse too. It's more of a retirement community now, even for the military members. This is where they put them to retire. There are better cities, no doubt. But it's surroundings are absolutely beautiful, the people are great, the atmosphere is generally chill, it's just a real nice place to chill and enjoy the outdoors. That's it's true draw, is how scenic it is and we kinda come by it naturally. People have seen sunsets here like nowhere else. Those who have never seen a red sunset in their entire lives and been all over the world, got to see one here and are amazed and cross it off their bucket list.

I lived in North Bay in the 50s. My father served with the RCAF. I lived at an apartment house, 522 main st, nearly opposite the railway station. Hell, that's over 60yrs ago. It's surely changed a lot!!

So it's the same as almost every city in Canada. Try going to Toronto, kw, London, Woodstock, Sudbury, thunder Bay etc. there's a huge epidemic.
