I currently am owned by Coal 12 1/2 and Castiel 20 months. She’s my profile pic. I got my first in 2002 but as a kid my dad had a friend with a beautiful big boy named Arthur. I loved that dog so much. It took until 20 years later but I finally got my first girl Bellatrix. Lol

@@sheepdogmumable that is great, once you've been touched by the personality of an OES it is hard to live without. We got our first in 2008 (Farley Sprocket 2008-2013) and Wallace in 2013. Couldn't imagine life without him.

Oh my word, apologies for not adding #4 into the video! (insert head shake here) #4 is they are are suburb travelers! Wallace has put many miles on with us in our SUV or Truck. He has moved from Canada to Texas, to Minnesota & to California! If you mention the word 'truck' or 'truck ride' you had better be prepared to take him for a spin around the block at minimum! Again, apologies for not including the cute footage we had wanted...

My first bobtail was so intelligent and loved to travel, he always lay in the back seat but when coming home from a long trip would sit up the very moment we passed the sign to our county of Somerset from whichever direction we came, he just new he was home.

I had an OES, she was my best friend and went through all of life’s ups and downs with me, she was adorable and was amazing with my children. For practicality I kept her fur short, but she was still beautiful, ironically they have gone out of fashion here in the U.K. and there are fewer and fewer breeders.☹️ They are everything you say and more, bred to protect sheep, which is why they look after us so well.

At the start when we got our bobtail, my mom was really worried cause I literally rolled on the floor with him, but then she noticed that the last thing he wanted to do was hurt me, if I for example hit my elbow on something and said "auch!" he stopped rolling immediately and turned to look at me.....also, mom didn't have to worry about me or my sister walking outside when it's dark, because if he was with us, he would never let ANYONE hurt us! SO EVERYONE, I RECOMMEND 100% If you don't love these dogs, then you're just wrong😂😂💖

This is an awesome review on WHY you need a sheep dog. My wife and I had two while raising our boy’s...And our son and daughter Inlaw are getting one for their two daughter. My wife and I watch this Video and you guys nail it on the 10 reason...now we are going to get another one! The head turn , follow you everywhere in bathroom and there temperament was spot on. The are like the BIG Lebowski all the time...

I own an Old English. Everything you say is what they ALL are like. There are people, adults and Children, who know my Tucker (Tuckie Bear), even if I don’t know who they are. My girls and husband researched where to get one, and the one they loved was the largest in the litter. Fast forward a few years, and I have a HUGE 150 lb lap dog. I literally can’t walk 5 feet without someone saying “Hi Tuck, can I pet him’? He is the largest sweetie, and gives everyone the best slobber kisses ever. He’s a celebrity in our neighborhood, and I would put my life on the line b4 I would let anything happen to my gentle giant.

i agree about every section except for the snow thing, i took my dog bertie for a walk in snow and it turned out the snow got between his pads and caused him pain so he just rolled over and i had to carry him home, also beware of running in grass because grass seeds can get in between paws, i had two vet bills for that, my bertie was a wonderful gentle giant

You forgot they laugh all the time, have a huge vocabulary & are easy to train. Intelligent , independent and capable of abstract thought are just a bonus. Oh, they good at herding kids too.

Mt secret is to love them with all your heart and soul.. all of my pets live a long time.I just lost a dear rescue 5 lb. Black Pom named Wolf. I rescued him at 1 yr. Old I got him the day before they were gonna put him down.He lived till 22 yrs

I know I am pretty late to this video. I just stumbled upon your videos (and this wonderful breed). I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind answering. 1. Do they tend to suffer from separation anxiety? If so, what is the average amount of time that you spend outside of the house (working, errands, etc.) without him. 2. How does he do with other dogs? Do they typically get along and like the company of other canines?

Would you say they can be trained as a service dog? Potentially stability. But mainly for for alerts if someone falls and maintaining boundaries in public? I almost feel like they are too cute and people wouldnt be able to leave them alone!

Yes, OES hair does grow long. It is up to you if you would like to cut them regularly - either way you will need to brush them! Thanks for watching & glad we could help!

So how much brushing does an OES need? Judging the huge mass of fur I assume it's a daily procedure, right? Also how do you make sure that he can release all his energy during daytime so he wont tear your house apart at night?

Well, I can share what we do & that is run/walk/rollerblade our Old English Sheepdog twice a day for approx. 45 min to an hour each time. Everyday is different & every situation is different, no judgements if you do not! This is what we find keeps our Wallace in great spirits & not a pain in our backsides, haha! Hope this helps! Can they also be alone (possibly with other pets)? Me and my partner both go to work for 8 hours a day. So at that time they would be alone or with our other pets

Yes! We both work away & our max 'alone' time would be 8 hours for our fur-balls. Alone is in quotations, as we have a Furbo (camera & little microphone to talk/call pets/delivers treats). With a good walk before you leave them & when you get home remember to take them out to stretch their legs - it will all work out! Also we found training our animals to be familiar/comfortable with their crate was helpful if we had someone dropping in to walk/play with them. We would not leave them in their crates for that amount of time, only when we had walkers come in. Hope this shed a bit of light to your questions! @@TenLairsDeep I began with Panda, then Cozy, followed my Meg, Digby (NEOES Rescue), Gracie (who passed in June of this year) and Annabelle and her nephew Otis (who is the first boy and the biggest sheepdog ever!) LOL I love this breed so much! They are with me ALL of the time. We are retired and they have us everyday to serve them whatever they want! LOL

There are many reputable breeders online. Most of them will ship them by air. We bought Wallace from Canada and the breeder shipped him to Texas. Also check with OES rescues if you have one in your area. There are many OES that need forever homes.

Love my old english sheep dog "BLUE" he is the best !!y have seen your other video about 10 reasons not to have one and in compliment to this one its all truth exept for the prices it cost to buy one , here where y live in URUGUAY in south america this is not a popular or fashionable breed so there are not too much breeders and you can get a good one for about 200U$, but the most cost efective is to breed yourself by getting in contact with other sheep dog owners , Y like the fact that is not a very popular breed not for snob but because y have seen what fashion has done with various breeds and its terrible , genetic desseses over reproduction till dead of the females and terrible living conditions in ilegal kenells .

Not true. We have had OES ever since our 3 cgildren were babies. They always went to sleep by their beds at night so they could keep a watchful eye on them.
