I know this game is not without it's faults but I still think it's underrated. I had a huge blast playing it.

Just Bring It's commentary never gets old.

Say what you want, but Fred Durst knew both how to market himself and how to use that "larger than life" gimmick that Rock and Metal seemed to forget how to do. Man was everywhere back then and no doubt set himself up for life.

The caw feature on this game was pretty good, but caw models were just awful. They looked like scared robots.

This game was surprisingly good for its time! 2001 was just a different time. Having a PS2 smack down game was good enough.

I remember creating X-Pac in this game and being that Albert had the whole X-Factor set-up my friends thought I magically unlocked X-Pac or something because it was complete lol before CAW became a massive thing and formulas was world wide...I was proud of that back then 🤣

I'm 15. The only reason I know about this is because in the town I used to live in there was a store called Vintage Stock that sold memrobelia from decades prior. Everything from CD's to posters were there, and this game caught 6 year old me's eye. And I loved it.

I believe it was stated in previews that you could shut Cole and Tazz up by attacking them!

The game was mostly developed before the invasion angle. The wrestlers who came in from that process, really aren't in the game. The wrestlers who made it into the game came separate from that, before the Invasion storyline. This made the roster feel really out of touch, since the Invasion storyline had been all-encompassing at the time.

I know that I can't be the only one who got annoyed of hearing "attention" and "caution" every time you loaded or saved the game. Also this game took up more than half of the memory card space if you had the standard 8 mb Sony branded memory card. I had to buy an additional memory card just for this game.

Why do people always say Michael Cole was a playable character in this game? He was playable in the previous game

PiP still happens in the game but only when someone interferes in the match. RVD's, DDP's, and Booker T's entrances are in the unlockable movesets. Awesome video.

Additional fun fact, the car model @ 5:22 is a Datsun Sports, most likely a 1500 (produced between 1963 and 1965) due to both horizontal and vertical ridges on the grille. Later models had different grilles -- the 1600 had all horizontal bars that look like a modern five-blade shaving razor while the 2000 actually had the Datsun "D" moved to the middle of it.

While now its pretty hard to play this game considering how dull it sometimes can be with how great later installments like SYM and HCTP were.. But at the time it was so awesome

You actually missed a couple. You could unlock the ECW and WCW factions as INVADERS 1/2/3/4 and it would allow you to recreate both the WCW (the WWF redesign one) and ECW logos in CAW (as parts) after playing through the game enough times. I never knew DDP and Shane Helms were even planned at the time of the game, I remember reading in an ind.PS2 mag at the time that a lot of the main WCW and ECW content got cut because of a separate deal for likeness WCW had already cut with EA and for some reason they still held the rights to the WCW guys and content at that stage and the WWF wasn't that desperate to include it to follow it up so just let that deal expire and not ever include it in the game. That may be partly why Page and Helms got cut as without the WCW angle they'd have stuck out on the roster and without WCW there was no point including ECW either. I also recall that there was commentary for X-Pac and his parts in CAW, maybe even a few more of the WWF guys not on the game (even Justin Credible?) but we're talking 20 years ago and my memory is fuzzy but worth looking up.

11. There was 2 custom superstars movesets in JBI that corrupt your save. Why? Because these two custom movesets (Goldberg [31 - CBG] and Grandmaster Sexay [09 - WGM]) contained only 1 finisher while all the other custom superstar movesets contained 2 finishers which somehow corupted your JBI save.

Growing up as a kid the smackdown games are so fun and getting better and better every time! Still pretty fun to this day. Get some good wrestling friends and there you go. Good memories

I have the platinum version of Just Bring It with the WWE logo, despite the fact that the game still called itself WWF when you put the disc in.

They forgot perry saturns thing in season mode where when asked a question, you can only respond by saying "You're welcome".or "Thank you." like he was doing on TV.

I dont miss creating CAWS or going on smackdown hotel for all the CAWS. there were so many missing wrestlers and not that much spaces

After hearing pretty much all the commentary and ring announcement lines for this game (Yes, the videos are out there), I've discovered several characters were supposed to be in, but never made the cut. The names are: X-Pac, The Goodfather, D'Lo Brown, Grandmaster Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, Val Venis, Chyna, Al Snow, Big Bossman, Mark Henry, Gangrel, K-Kwik, Essa Rios, Paul Bearer, Michael Cole, Mankind, Bull Buchanan, Taka Michinoku, Funaki, Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, Pete Gas, Rodney, Joey Abs, Shawn Michaels, Cactus Jack, Chaz, Debra, Tori, Jacqueline, Terri, Jim Ross, Kevin Kelly, Earl Hebner, Tiger Ali Singh, Haku, Justin Credible & Paul Heyman. While some names do actually appear, they only appear as names for created superstars. Surprisingly, neither DDP or Hurricane Helms have any commentary or ring announcement lines, despite being originally planned then scrapped. Also, there's a CAS name called Dr Death, and I think it's a reference to Steve Williams. Another name called King might be referring to Jerry Lawler, but that's a bit of a stretch. Lastly, there's also a few matches that do have lines, like the Dumpster Match you mentioned, and that includes Lumberjack, Casket, Kendo Stick, Brahma Bull Rope, 2 Out of 3 Falls, a possible 3 Falls match (from what I heard) and No Holds Barred, as well as Survival 4 & 6 Man Tags. Additionally, Howard Finkel recorded lines for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, and 60-minute matches. That's a lot of cut content!

The Smackdown arena with the fist is also in this game. If you play as The Rock and do the slobberknocker match, get 16+ victories, you will unlock that arena right before WWF actually changed the arena IRL

I'm more than sure alot of the features that were removed for the game had to been that the PS2 was maybe a year old when this game came out and the development team wasn't too familiar with developing on PS2 at the time of making this game.

The PS2 could handle some heavy content, though the photo commentary may have been removed for the same reason as EA removed the picture reactions of bosses in Need for Speed Carbon during races, which are present on the PC version.

I grew up on just bring it honestly had great times with it with the bros game wasn’t that bad , but honestly think day of reckoning 1,2 was the best wrestling game , along with wcw revenge and wrestlemania 2000

Easiest way to get out into the dark void is to play on the smackdown stage. Set the ladder up between the ramp and top of the stage and superplex your opponent on the stage and you’ll both be in the stage up to your waste and you both can run wherever you want.

I was 11 yrs old when this game came out I played it so much I started seeing things and got sick as hell fever and all I was addicted it’s just crazy how great that time and era was I deadass spent a whole summer playing it

That game had one move completely broken if you did a royal rumble. It was hip toss 1 or hip toss 2. It threw the opponent through the ropes, off the ring. Awesome game but man, that save file took a lot of space.

This is the first Smackdown game I played... I missed out on the PS1 versions. Let's just say... I was busy. Had to pretty much give up gaming from about the age of 16 to 19. In fact, it was my first PS2 game. I was 20, and I played it for SO LONG... The last game released under the "WWF" banner... And I still have my original WWF copy! Now that my daughter is grown up, perhaps I'll have time to finally check the PS1 games out! *EDIT* I appreciate the applause... Cus I definitely unlocked Shane-O-Mac!

I never got this one so its a rarity to me. I think everyone was so dissapointed bc of the opening intro video, but I think it has a certain charm an arcade style deluxe version of the PS1 Smackdown games.

For some reason anytime I would try to use Kane in a steel cage match my game would crash back in the day .. great game for its time though !

Most games have the videos look better than the game. If anyone in 2000/01 actually thought the PS2 was capable of graphics like that intro, they were idiots.

I never knew you could unlock Michael Cole, I always thought that was just a fake cheat or something from way back in the day. I also vaguely remember reading on some website that you could actually attack the 3D models of Cole and Tazz during matches, though I'm not sure how true that is.

I like the older pro wrestling games a lot better than the current-gen ones. I'm glad I don't play today's WWE-related video games anymore. They get so repetitive every year! I recommend playing non-pro wrestling games because non-pro wrestling games take forever to go out of style. WWE's video games go out of style way too quickly every year and that gets really repetitive.

I'm sick of people saying the graphics suck. They said smack down 2 was just as good. Tbh the graphics blew the previous two out the water and were better than wrestle mania 18 on the GameCube

I mean that was during a time were the games had intros and cutscenes that looked nothing like the game so at the time I wasn’t expecting those type of graphics (although they do look really nice). My cousins got this game and told me they had commercials in the game but I was proven wrong😞 I guess they were just glad they had the game while I still had a PS1 console to throw it in my face as a 10yr old😤

This was my first wwe game I played back in 2007

I remember being disappointed at the lack of Booker T and tried recreating him myself. IIRC, they had a taunt in there that was essentially the Spin-a-rooni anyway.

Well I play old games a lot and the gameplay looks quite fair to me for how old the title is it's not looking that bad. To be fair I wasn't a kid playing this back when it came out and I have learned long ago to not base games off of pre rendered cutscenes. but if you go by the game it still is quite realistic in movement and that's impressive for a game rendering real people in that time.

you can powerbomb someone with a selective power bomb move on the announcer table and get the other character behind the stage

also, you didn't show any footage while talking about "This" footage of Powertrip and the Ladder Match moves would later be added to Smackdown Shut Your Mouth thankfully the next year lol. I don't mean to be so critical. Great video. Just annoying when you're mention something not being shown lol. I feel like I'm missing out!
