I don't know what Seth's plans for a career are and it might be best to go to college straightaway after high school for those, but has he considered spending a year or three getting a tradeskill like becoming an electrician or HVAC tech or plumber or a mechanic of some sort? Those are guaranteed lifetime employment and he can always go to college but be working and making bank at the same time. As an example, back in my youth, a friend of mine was an electrician who went away to college in his early 20s after making his master and literally made more working part time while getting his college degree than college cost.

On average they use 10amps or ~1500KW per hour. This of course varies by size but good ballpark.

We are also off grid and we have a freeze dryer. Yes the power is alot. We don't have the battery bank you do. Yes harvest season is sunny and lots of solar however here it is also 95+ so we have to choose between AC and the freeze Dryer.! We love it!!

We aren’t off grid but we do have a Generac. I love watching all your videos, keep up the fun. We just got a freeze dryer and it has been working constantly.

I am curious if you had a background in the trades. You have been so comfortable and knowledgeable building everything. Also - did you have to do anything special to be able to run your well pump from solar? We are in a very rural area of northern Nevada but on-grid currently. We really need to do a backup system as our power goes out several times a week. But my research is saying that we may have to get a different well pump to be able to run off solar. I love watching your videos.

Living traditions homestead talked about the energy use of their harvest wright freezedryer. I think they said the energy use was not that high. maybe a few kWh.

Freeze dryers cost a lot at the first but doesn't take very much to operate. I have a harvest right freeze dryer.

The best thing in life is learning how to do stuff with your father and mother how to cook how to fix stuff that breaks down how to build stuff then when you're older you don't have to pay everybody to do everything for you and if something goes wrong you can fix it if you want to or if you want to pay someone to do it you can pay someone to do it but I am a jack of all trades and that's because of my father and my mother and a lot of people think I'm kind of weird because I took three years of homemak cooking in school because I love to cook because I cooked with my mother all the time and my mother was my best friend yes my friends used to get mad at me because I used to tell my mother everything we did even the wrong stuff after the fact but I got to do whatever I wanted to do because they trusted me yes I was a bad boy to other people not my parents yes my parents had to put up with a lot of stuff but I think I turned out pretty good a lot better than the kids nowadays they have no respect for their parents and the parents have no way of discipline in their kids anymore I think the government just start raising everybody's kids because they seem to push the laws the way you are and not allowed to do your children and they're paying them to live on the streets anyway Because nowadays if the kids don't like living at home because of the rules especially in the summer they just go live on the street because the government gives them everything for free they don't have to work they just get it handed to them trust me I know because I got them all living in the park beside me and they don't respect anything that they get for free cause I just leave it in the bush stuff that I could never even afford to buy

Rent it as an Air BNB but with the added caveat that the renters are actually there to work with you on whatever project you are doing that week, so they are paying a fee for th air bnb and a fee for the experience and opportunity to work with you - AND for and added fee, they get to be featured in the video for that week. How do you afford such a huge undertaking. It’s never been said that either of you have full time jobs. Just curious, I worked 45 yrs and retired with a descent income. My daughter couldn’t even get college education income help because my wife and I made to much, (what a laugh),. How do you do it? There are so many KZfaqrs just like you guys. I just don’t get it. Not jealous at all, I must have missed something in my life.

Raise Sheep and Pigs, you wont like Goats, they are greasy and a real aquired taste. I personally dont like the goat one bit. Sheep are great taste and a wonderful amount of meat when you process. And make sure you do your homework on the Pigs you want a very good docile breed some can get rough and hard to manage. If you want suggestions on the breeds of Sheep and Pigs let me know, I raise them myself.
