Some more fun facts about Croatia: 1) Plitvice lakes are often named the most beautiful piece of nature in Europe 2) Second longest wall in the world (after The great wall in China) is in the city of Ston 3) 1/8 of entire country (500 000 people) came to welcome our football team in Zagreb upon their World cup final match, even though they lost 4) Besides Nikola Tesla being a Croat, Croats had also invented (inventor) a: tie (national custom), pen (Penkala), parachute (Vrancic), torpedo (Lupis), maglite (Maglica), fingerprint identification (Vucetic), double-entry bookkeeping (Kotruljevic), mobile parking (Vipnet), Intelligant (Miskovic), Mp3 player (Uzelac), orbital space station and rocket engine (Potocnik), dynamo (Kiepach) etc. 5) Croatia is believed to be the greatest sporting nation in the world (per capita of course). Just open any list of Croatian sports achievements, there's too much to list here, I already tried with inventions... 6) Zagreb is named the best advent (pre-Christmas) city in Europe for three years straight. It was also named the cleanest and safest European capital multiple times. 7) Marco Polo was a Croat from the island of Korčula. 8) Dalmatian dogs (the dotted ones) are originally from Croatian region of Dalmatia 9) Croatia has the highest number of UNESCO intangible goods of any European country (same as Spain though) 10 and beyond) Croatia has: the smallest city in the world (Hum), narrowest street in the world (Vrbnik), richest finds of neandertals in the world (Krapina), oldest european calendar (Vucedol), 1200+ islands, a shape-shifting beach (Bol), 7th tallest men, and finally 4th alcohol consumption per capita in the world! Few observations about the video: The content is mostly right, the video is really good, but what bothers me is such a wrong usage of connectors... For example: 1) "Although Croatia is one of the more recent countries to join the EU, they do not use the Euro". Why although? Would it be logical if they are the last to join but are already using the Euro? 2) "Believe it or not, Croatia is predominantly a Christian country". Why wouldn't we believe it? It's located in the freaking middle of Europe, what should it be? Hinduistic? Damn. Also, you could've provided a timeline of cultural influences instead of just saying "4 cultures and many others". You forgot the ancient Greek influence which was really dominant before Romans came - they actually founded most coastal cities.

Croatia is specifically a very Catholic country. As for the sea organ, I visited it a few years ago. It's a southern Slavic society as well. The coastline is absolutely stunning, with waters so clear you can watch a coin fall to the bottom of many harbors. Then there's Dubrovnik. This magical city is known by all Game of Thrones viewers.

Greetings from Šibenik. Šibenik is an old Croatian royal town from at least 9 centuries, (It was built by Croats) with 2 National Parks (Krka and Kornati) Kornati paradise for boaters with about 150 islands. 🌞 Šibenik --- on this side of the Adriatic no city has a larger old core, the city of 4 fortresses, the famous Cathedral of St. James (UNESCO). From the sea side to enter the city, you have to go through the canal of St. Anthony about 2 km long which is guarded by the fortress of St. Nicholas, also under UNESCO. Entrance to the NP. Krka 14 km away. 🇭🇷 🇭🇷

Thank you for this video, it was a pleasure seeing and hearing about this beautiful country. Although, I think Croatia has a lot more to offer and I really hope you would do another video about it. For example, you could show much more pictures of it's wonderful coast, islands (over 1000), cities like Split, Pula, Opatija, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Osijek and other parts of Zagreb. Maybe mention the smallest city in the world (Hum), more tourist attractions, forests and culture ( Arena in Pula for example, Old town in Dubrovnik etc).

Despite our economic and political problems I can say I am very blessed to be able to live in my homecountry Croatia. It is really one of the most beautiful countries in the world. We are so tiny but so diverse. And it is always nice to see foreigners who talk nicely about us. EDIT: There were 2 Yugoslavias....the second one was the communist one. It would be a cool thing if you do a part 2 to concentrate more on history and architecture...and don't forget to mention Roman Emperor Diocletion who's palace is in Split. Without him Split wouldn't be what it is today, of course there are others who helped the city to evolve, but without his palace who knows if Split would have been ever founded. But to be honest I think you need at least 15 videos to explain the main historic facts ....

Fun facts- Dubrovnik banned slavery even before America was discovered. Letter from Pope John VIII. to Prince Branimir was written in Rome on 7 June 879 on a parchment measuring 24 × 34 cm. The letter begins with the words: Dilecto filio Branimir ( Beloved son Branimir). The letter is extremely heartfelt and contains a notice stating that the pope was at the altar of St. Peter during his service. John raised his hands to bless Prince Branimir, his whole people and his entire country. This letter is also considered a timely recognition of Croatia's independence and sovereignty. Christianity goes all the way back in Croatia history, like in so called Baska Tablet: In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, I, abbot Držiha, wrote this concerning the land which Zvonimir, the Croatian king, gave in his days to St. Lucia. And the witnesses [were] župan Desimir in Krbava, Martin in Lika, Piribineg in Vinodol and Yakov in Otok. Whoever denies this, let him be cursed by God and the twelve apostles and the four evangelists and Saint Lucia. Amen. May he who lives here pray for them to God. I, abbot Dobrovit, built this church with nine of my brothers in the days of prince Cosmas who ruled over the entire province. And in those days [the parish of St.] Nicholas in Otočac was joined with [the parish of] St. Lucia. As you mentioned, Croatia is a crossroad of Europe, and have rich history. We hold our ground and stopped Turks to invade Europe for example. One of our greatest Croats was Nikola Subic Zrinski, back then called all across Europe as a modern Leonidas (Spartan king, battle of Thermopylae), for stopping Turks to go further, Wienna was their goal. In his last charge, he was killed with 600 of his remaining soldiers. But Turks had huge losses and had to quit further invading. Nikola was beheaded, and his head was sent as a warning. Now, his head rest in peace,in his family tomb, in Cakovec.

Maybe we should correct your statement at 6:30 about human blood. Croatia is well known for not depending on other countries for organ transplatations and blood donations. Many people give blood regulary, we have actions when there’s a low stock, and Croatia is no. 1 in the world for transplatations of kidneys. I really enjoyed the video, heard some things I forgot 😂 and some I haven’t heard for before 🤔 Also, a tip for future, you can always check how to pronounce the words on google translate 😉😉
