I love how you covered even the more sensitive areas of the bedroom! Not just the basics everyone talks about lightly, but the intimate stuff no one likes to talk about without making it awkward; also with descriptions being obvious for those knowing the context, and dove just deep enough into the items to help people get their feet wet being more ecological in those areas.

About the stockings, I found an ethical/sustainable company that makes stockings that are ten time stronger than steel and are unbreakable in human hands!! They're called Sheertex and I've had mine for months and I haven't got even the tiniest hole or rip in them yet!!

Apparently Nylon used to be quite the durable material. There's an old black and white video I remember watching where 2 nylon tied cars displayed their durability by trying to drive opposite. Planned obsolescence gradually brought it to the low quality material it is today.

You're true to what you believe (so many green bloggers are shady and find themselves promoting tons of stuffs they were telling you not to buy), it's refreshing and gives me hope that yes, we can resist fast fashion and buying shit, we can do so much. You've made me stop a lot of things, I just moved into my first appartment and everything is second hand. Video's like this give me so much inspiration!! For bedsheets, I only buy them second hand. The ones I have are (probably) from the 80's and of waaaay better quality than anything I've found in the stores. It is a bit of a gamble though, because secondhand bedsheets can have stains. Although, if that is the case, I will use it as cleaning rags or as a fabric to practise my sewing skills on.

I used to work at an adult store and we legit had a "vibrator" graveyard for the ones we would test (before purchase, we offered a battery test because once it walked out of the store, no returns) and any that didn't work, went in a box in the back and would be sent back to the company. The only adult/personal devices I've bought since then, have been well well researched. I do like sleepwear because I hate sleeping naked! I like cute ones too because I like feeling cute in bed, but I also buy it all secondhand now. Haven't bought hangers in years (bought a bunch at a thrift store once). I really did like this video, it was interesting and informative. Thank you for sharing.

From what I've gathered, with soy candles it's just a plant based material with quite a small amount of scent added (such as some drops of essential oil) VS a perfume which is a big concentrated liquid, they often use rare ingredients, are petro chemical based and made in an energy guzzling process. There are definitely more eco alternatives to smelling nice (I rely on my natural deodorant) and there are eco friendly perfumes so I would look into that if it's something important to you!! :) but as for your question, though hard to measure, supporting (especially handmade and local which I prefer to) soy based candle companies is likely to be a lot less impactful than purchasing generic perfumes.
@Gittemary
@Gittemary 3 жыл бұрын
It completely applies to candles as well, execessive use is unsustainable. There are not necessarily as much perfume/essential oil in a candle as in a whole bottles, but still it is certainly true
@Gittemary
@Gittemary 3 жыл бұрын
"Natural" does not always mean sustainable, it takes up to 700 flowers to make 15 mililiters of perfume, that is a natural process, but with overconumption far from sustainable. The impact comes from cultivated land, how that decreases biodiversity, CO2 emissions and deforestation to make room for fields 🌿

Is there a reason you don't recommend glass adult toys? Best choice by far in my opinion.

I've tried to go without condoms with my partner. Unfortunately, I've noticed I'm much more susceptible to UTIs. So cutting that out is just not for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️
@lorena2904

This is me and my experience only but what I found out is that cumm*ng inside is a big no no and it equals UTIs...when that is avoided it is actually all good for majority of the time. Majority of condoms give me issues, latex or non latex and it was just such an annoying journey to find out what would actually work

Do you guys know that nylon actually was made to resist scratching and tearing? This is one of the oldest products where planned obsolescence was put in place. If you can get a hold of reeeeally old nylon stockings from the 1930/40s they won't rip. But you can't sell loads of stuff like this...

latex condoms disintegrate back to rubber, its just the the plastic/foil wrapping that would go to waste

Only use oils, and oil-based lubes if you are NOT using condoms. Oils can dissolve condoms and we don't want that.

Paraffin candles aren't that much wasteful, because paraffin is a by-product of the oil industry, and not what pushes it forward. Just like lather and the live stock... but I feel what you mean! I've heard of bee wax too, but never the soy one, thank you for the great videos!!

I will admit there is this kitchen tool I bought because I was simply lazy to cut an avacado simple with a chef knife and a spoon the flesh out. Anyway oxo made this avacado too it cuts, depit and slice. worst device ever. I still have it I might sell it. Waste of $$. It might be nice for some one with physical problems with there hands that don't contain much movement but beyond that I mean it was bad.

Condoms are compostable! Not the wrapper obviously but the condom itself is
@Gittemary
@Gittemary 3 жыл бұрын
Even though condoms are made from latex which is derived from natural rubber, it can take hundreds of years for condoms to break down because most condoms aren’t made from 100% natural materials but made with synthetic fillers that, like bio-plastic, will make it act exactly like plastic in a garden compost or in nature. So while it might be true for more natural brands, it is far from a universal certainty 😔

Instead of buying plastic personal toys, you could always buy glass toys. I'm horribly allergic to phthalate and the plastic the use in adult toys so me and my husband just buy glass. Its inexpensive and its recyclable because it's just glass.
@Gittemary

It is really good idea as well, the only reason why I didn't include glass toys was because I don't have any personal experience with them myself, but 100% more sustainable than battery-driven toys
