I just moved to Seattle 2 months ago and wanted to share some things that I learned and some things that surprised me about this wonderful city. If you're planning to move to Seattle this is definitely the video for you.
Otherwise, this is my very first time editing and voicing over my own video so please pardon the quality. It was really fun making this video and I hope to make more in the future. Let me know what you think :D
I mentioned a 20 day law in Seattle so as promised, here the link that describes it: www.seattle.gov/rentinginseat...

This is one of the best videos talking about things you should know before moving to Seattle. I’m actually very surprised that it’s your first ever video! I love how you actually put in a lot of footages of city instead of you being the only one person talking in front of the camera. I’d love to see some more videos about how’s it like to live in Seattle,fun things to do, unique lifestyles etc.and ofc with all scenes of the city:)

This is a good video for a first try! Great information, which is why I stopped by. The only thing I noticed, as of the video, was that your voice over audio was hard panned to the left side. Not sure which editing software you're using but you should be able to adjust your audio to be centered, so that it's not just coming out of one speaker. I noticed because I listen to it through a headset, kinda distracts. Other than that, keep up the good work, man!

There are two toll roads in Seattle, the State Route 99 tunnel, and the State Route 520 bridge between Seattle and Bellevue. Interstate 405 has and Express Toll Lane (ETL) between the cities of Bellevue and Lynnwood, but you don't have to pay to use the general purpose lanes. The 4th and final toll road in the greater Seattle area is the High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lane on State Route 167 between Renton and Auburn, and just like the ETL, you don't have to pay to drive in the general purpose lanes.

Haha thank you! And I do have some. If you live in Seattle and know you’ll take public transportation often, then I’d encourage you to buy an ORCA card. It allows you to load up money so you can enter any public transportation. If you’re just visiting I recommend buying individual tickets. Most public transit has a ticket kiosk where you can buy individual tickets.

What are your favorite grocery stores to go to in Seattle, and what are available? The only one I know of Safeway, but I'm not too familiar with it.
@Chris_jae
@Chris_jae 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I can go through the list of my favorite stores and what I use them for. Safeway and Target: great for dairy products and general items (cooking ware, household items, napkins, etc.). They’re everywhere throughout the area which is nice. Amazon Fresh Stores: my go to place for produce. In many cases, I’ve found the fruit and vegetables here to be cheaper than most places. Stuff like eggs and dairy are more expensive here though. There are two in Seattle and one in Factoria. I actually like the Factoria one best. Whole Foods: it’s more expensive than Amazon Fresh, but if you want more options for organic food, this is the best place. Trader Joe’s is also popular, but I don’t usually shop there. I mostly go there to buy snacks (by snacks I mean the 1 lb. chocolate bar they sell) I do recommend joining the loyalty programs for each and downloading the apps for each location. It helps get more discounts. In my opinion, the target app has the best loyalty program. I know that’s a lot of info, but I hope it helps 😁

For apartmentlist when looking for a place to rent, was the monthly rent they show for an apartment the actual price or no?
@Chris_jae
@Chris_jae 2 жыл бұрын
It was generally accurate. Although it doesn't distinguish between low income housing and regular apartments. For example, there was a 900 square foot apartment in downtown for 1700. I asked about it cause I thought it was a great deal, but as it turned out, it was only for people who qualify as low income. Otherwise, it is accurate, but it is definitely worth checking in with the apartment complex itself to see the price and see if they have any discounts (sometimes they reduce rent if you plan to stay for 12+ months)

I grew up in old weird Seattle in the '60's-late '80's. A great, rough, down on it's luck but wanting to improve town. Lot's of tiny jazz clubs, old time bars, eclectic restaurants, bookstores, the lot. All gone & I miss it. Now? Overcrowded, overpriced, over the top phony. Culture Gulch. Dead. If your looking for posers, players & frauds, Seattle is the place for you. If you're still clinging to rap & hip hop (which has been dead for 25 years), Seattle is the place for you. If you're looking for class, intelligence, creativity & inspiration, it's not. Either way, enjoy.

Do you think it's because of the exodus of people from California or a bunch of housing being converted to AirBnbs? I'm actually origionally from Chicago so the AirBnb issue is one issue that we've been having
@klep2859
@klep2859 2 жыл бұрын
@@Chris_jae It really began in April of '84 when the Final Four was held in Seattle. The weather was absolutely gorgeous & the coverage of the city was glowing. People thought all it did was rain here. Between '83 & '05 there were only two years that weren't considered drought years. The exodus from California (& a few other locations) started slowly. Up until '88 it was manageable. In '89 all hell broke loose due to the cost of living in Calif & homes which they sold for hundreds of thousands & with those funds purchased homes all over the Puget Sound area for pennies on (their) dollar. This drove prices up until by 2000 it was very, very difficult for the average local to afford much of anything. Now it's similar to San Francisco. Air B&B had nothing to do with it. It is supply & demand. I envy all these techies makin $70+k a year, but in reality it's no different than making $12 an hour in '84 as everything has skyrocketed in price. You may be making $70+k but your apartment costs 3000-4000 or more a month (for a decent one in the city), your house cost far, far more than it was worth & your mortgage is sky high, so you're really still in the same boat I was when things were far less expensive & so was pay. Worst traffic in the country, a city council that refuses to do what's necessary & of course you saw all the b.s. last year with CHOP & defund the police. Pathetic. Homeless are everywhere, even on school grounds & no one will do anything about it. The town is also meaner, more crime-ridden, overcrowded & ugly than it was just 5-7 years ago. You get the picture. I just never expected it to turn into this, but it has anywhere tech moves in. Fortunately, most of them are Dem's. Tacoma is like old Seattle in a number of ways, but it will change.
@markpreston6930

@@klep2859 You refer to 'Old Seattle' as a revision. Seattle was full of drunk Indians from Pioneer Square to Seattle Center and there were junkies Pike Place Donut Shop and Aurora had dead junkies found frequently. The restaurants were shit. Seattle neighborhoods are still bland and boring. Seattle still sucks and is hooked on Led Zeppelin reruns and ranch dressing. The only people that think Seattle is like San Francisco are ignorant fools in WA. No one in Bay Area thinks Seattle is like San Francisco.
