Being part of the ever-growing mid-size pickup truck segment, the Honda Ridgeline is a well-rounded package that offers the driving dynamics and the ride quality of a car without compromising too much on the versatility of a pickup truck.
The interior is impressive, with a spacious cabin, a long list of features, and great craftsmanship, all of which are a notch above some of the rivals.
So let's look at ten things you need to know before buying the 2023 Honda Ridgeline.

Got my 2022 RTL in March, 2022. Have almost 9k miles on it. Fantastic truck. Coming from a Ford Ranger, I was blown away by the more 'carlike' ride. Yet it still handles my trips to the dump, home depot, and hauling my mtb bikes to the mountain with ease... Cross shopped the new Frontier, the Tacoma, and a new Ranger. None of them came close in terms of ride quality, convenience, or build quality. By far the best mid-size truck on the market (unless you intent to actually rock crawl off road).

Do you feel the infotainment system is dated and lags?
@bikebudha01

@@tego73 It's not laggy at all. As for dated, I prefer 'simple' infotainment. And the infotainment is simple. But it works great. I use a thumb drive that holds 600+ songs. The system has a 'random' feature, so I have hours and hours of good mix of music. The sound system is 'alright', and I do wish it was a touch better.

I just got one. Best price/quality/comfort/utility/daily family and coaches truck on the market. You can ride in the back set as an adult and not get sick from the bumps on all others. No truck does everything but for the price it’s a no brainer. If your stuck on looks then move onto the more expensive ones. My wife wants to drive it and is fine parking it and that matters over here.

My wife and I love it. The only Q on my mind is: I do not think this car would make 20mpg. Any recs? I know the stats on paper but don’t seem to get close. I had one of the 2nd gen. It handled impressively for a truck. I did the cylinder deactivation delete , as it was annoying and added little mpg. One of the most glaring problems in normal driving is that the cruise control could not maintain speed, it would dip several mph going uphill and gain speed downhill. People driving vehicles with normal cruise control would gain or pass you unless you intervened. Absolutely the worst cruise control I have ever used. Towing was awesome, towed a near 5K# load through the mountains with no issues. The other thing that was bad was the bumpers, the rear bumper is bolted to the sheet metal so if you tap it you end up repainting the whole bed side. I barely touched a pole and it was $2400 to repair it.

My only gripe about the Ridgeline is that Honda won't make it a real truck. It's been a truck-like sport utility vehicle which has more in common with the Pilot than the Tundra, or an American truck. Honda keeps building all of its vehicles with similar designs, so they that they can save money yet still can say, "We offer a truck too", but it's just like an SUV without a roof in back. The crew cab is fine, but the bed is so small as to be rather impractical for actual work, but slightly more useful than the carpeted area in the back of a Passport. At least it starting to look good again. Now, make it a real machine! I had a 2007 Ridgeline. Drove that puppy for 15 years. Very, very reliable. Other than routine maintenance, I only had to replace the starter 14 years in. It was fun to drive, but not particularly useful for work, and I certainly tried, but it always performed like a big car rather than an actual truck. No complaints on the performance as transportation. Honda does make a great product. They just need to up their game here.

It’s not gonna haul loads of timber that’s for sure, but in my situation I want something that can carry my tools (and I have plenty) and still have space left. Something that can drive in unpaved roads without it shaking, rattling and bumping too hard, not looking to drive it up a mountain. And last but not least I want something that A.) doesn’t break down so easily *cough cough Chevy* B.) something that is relatively fuel efficient The Ridgeline seems to check all those boxes. And with current car and truck prices that even USED trucks are more expensive than new ones, I feel inclined to buying a New 2023 Ridgeline RTL-E with a 3in lift than buying a Used 2016-2017 F-150 or Silverado with 100K miles for almost the same price

Agreed - we looked at the Ridgeline when replacing our 22-year old Tacoma, and decided on another Tacoma. The Ridgeline bed is short and not very deep, not as useful for hauling loads of firewood and other larger items. With the Tacoma we were able to get a 6-foot bed and a full cab. I noticed that the video didn't mention the size of the bed. I am sure it is an excellent vehicle when you can live with the small bed.
@bikebudha01
@bikebudha01 Жыл бұрын
@@jimwhite1703 Tacoma's come with 5' beds as well. Most crew cab's are 5' beds. And while the tacoma can be had with both a crew cab and 6' bed, the truck gets really really long in that configuration. And while the extra 1' of bed length is nice, the rear cab is far more cramped than the rear cab of the Honda. And the honda seats truly fold vertical, with a true flat floor - for tons of rear cab space. And the honda bed is 4" wider than a tacoma's. And the honda bed allows full size 4x8 sheets to lay perfectly flat, while the toyota bed has to contend with the wheel wells projecting into the bed.

Other features(safety?) treat you like a moron, your car is running, beep beep while you try and warm it up??? DUH, I know, console buttons are small and hard to make contact, buttons on steering wheel can easily be activated changing stations, etc., asks you constantly if you want to add a phone. Overall truck performed great , fit and finish is not there. Dealer technicians are not skilled and service team members are quite rude and condescending with many out of this world excuses on why items " Are normal" only to come back multiple times under the under 1000 mile rule to actually get fixed that selling dealer is only one able to service. So after all that I'm at 12k and other than I wouldn't use Honda dealerships for Service due to lack of confidence expect some fit and finish items to go in for service upon delivery before you can truly enjoy your new ride. This can’t even compete with my 2022 Nissan PRO-4X. If I wanted an Accord, I would buy one. This isn’t a truck. If it’s not Body on Frame it’s a car.

Worst looking front end on a truck I have ever seen. What the hell is wrong with these design engineers, it looks like somebody chopped off the front 1/3. Call it the snub nosed Ridgeline !

Not a truck when it doesn't have a chassis. Just a big car that looks like a truck.

I guess Ford didn't get the memo for their Maverick "truck".... which is selling like hot cakes, with a shorter bed and 1,000 less pounds of towing capacity.
