Got my RTL 2022 in March. It's been amazing. It's a great trip car, super comfy seats. Very quiet ride. The 100% flat bed is perfect for 4x8 sheets of anything. The in-bed trunk works perfect for grocery bags. The rear seats fold up so much out of the way, I can put my 23" 29er mtb bike back there in a pinch. I've been getting 23 highway, and 20+ in town (depending on my many times I go through the drive throughs) I got it in the best color, Sonic Grey Pearl. I really researched and test drove the new Nissan Frontier, the Tacoma, and the Ranger. The Ridgeline is BY FAR the better truck (unless you are truly going to off-road). Can't recommend it enough..

We actually bought one of these... used... for off-roading, because we found the 4WD with a long wheelbase is useless except for snow or mud... not the dry, steep, windy trails where we live. The best 4WD for off-roading I ever drove, was an old Geo Tracker, perfect wheelbase length.

This will probably be my next vehicle coming from a 2019 GMC Canyon Denali that has been one problem after another. Since the 48,000 mile mark it has need the following work out of pocket: Heater core and front replacement ($2,800), electrical problem ($734), failed fuel system control module ($528), failed active shutter ($619) and failed Thermostat housing and radiator problem ($1010). The GMC Canyon might be for you if you like dealing with repair shops and renting vehicles when you truck is tied up in the shop.

I just purchased the same truck, 2023 RTL-E in black (less the tonneau cover). I installed the BAK Revolver X4S tonneau roll up, It fits flush and can hold 400lbs plus you don't loose bed space or the back window when it's open like with a folding cover. I also got the truck cargo dividers (Honda really should include these with the truck). I agree with your review - great truck if you don't need heavy towing or off road capabilities. I'm not crazy about the all terrain tires, I do hear some road noise, but they do look good. The in bed speakers are great. Thanks for running through the sport mode, but man that new truck has a 600 mile break-in "Avoid full-throttle operation or sudden acceleration for the first 600 miles." I will wait till I hit 600 miles before I put mine through the paces! Great review, thanks

Great review! Question: how competant is the Ridgeline's lane centering/lane keep assist? Does the system keep the vehicle centered in its lane for freeway driving? Thanks!
@EpicCookieGamer
@EpicCookieGamer Жыл бұрын
I have a 23 RTL and it does a decent job. I am able to take my hands off the wheel (tested, not a habit) on the highway. Sometimes it does feel like it wants to go get out of the lane but will correct itself in normal conditions. It is great for longer commutes so your hands don’t get tired if you are used to gripping the wheel hard.

@EpicCookieGamer wow that's great to hear regarding the lane centering of your Ridgeline! Will definitely go for a test drive. Does the adaptive cruise do stop and go traffic? Thanks again!
@EpicCookieGamer
@EpicCookieGamer Жыл бұрын
@@R56Cooper the adaptive cruise control is good at slowing down to match the speed of other drivers both on the highway and on the city and does work in stop and go. The only thing I might add is it is kinda jumpy and breaks hard when it sees tail lights. It’s kinda hard to explain but you get a feel for it after a bit. Good luck with the test drive!

@@EpicCookieGamer wow that's great to hear that the adaptive cruise works all the way down to a stop. And that it also works in stop and go traffic. This vs. the 2022 Ranger -- what's your preference? I wouldnt be towing more than 5k, but I also like the higher driving position of the Ranger, and Ford's Sync 3.4 update is better than Honda's infotainment from 2017. Power seems pretty similar -- delivered different but both are quick. Space inside goes to the Ridgeline. Ridgeline probably rides better than the Ranger, but the Ranger is still pretty comfy for being body on frame. I'm also 26 and the Ridgeline seems like an old man truck at least by me, I dont think Ive seen anyone younger than 50 driving one. What are your thoughts having driven both recently?

If you're looking for good utility it's hard to beat the Ridgeline. As far as i know it's the only midsize that has a totally flat floor in the back seat. Lots of room for tools, cargo, anything really. What really stands out to me though is the bed. Once you use a bed with 50 inches between wheel wells you will really dislike going back to anything smaller. Not to mention the wheel wells are only a few inches in height. The Tacoma for example has 42 inches between wells, most other trucks are around 44. Loading ATV's and riding lawnmowers is much easier with the wider bed. It has the width of an F150 but the length of a typical midsize. (210 inches). I think they got a reputation as an older persons truck based on the previous design. I didn't like the crossover buick type front end either but the refresh looks much better. The Ridgeline does actually have a frame too. It's integrated into the body structure itself instead of using typical cab mounts with rubbber / hydraulic bushings.

This doesn't have that ZF 9-speed transmission in it, does it; that's one of main reasons we looked for a 2019 or older, those 9 speeds were problematic for a time.
@adir_1
@adir_1 Жыл бұрын
It does have the ZF9HP. It's built under license by Honda and programmed with their software so it will act differently than one made by another auto manufacturer. Personally I think it works really well in the Ridgeline. They had some teething issues early on but they've done well with the programming lately. I think they moved to the 9HP because they were having a lot of torque converter failures in the older 6 speed. They didn't gain any MPG but towing is much better with the 9 as well.

@JasonJones-br3or Жыл бұрын

There are some videos out there of a Honda engineer discussing several structural differences. Some heavier duty suspension components to handle higher load and towing, transmission cooler, etc. so it’s not just a pilot with a bed.
@adir_1
@adir_1 Жыл бұрын
There are quite a few differences between the Pilot and Ridgeline. The main frame structure under the unibody is more robust. The rear cab wall was re engineered to remove the buttresses and improve strength. It was also strengthened to meet the European safety standard for heavy cargo impact into the cab during an accident. The spindles / wheel hub, bearings and suspension components are upgraded as well to handle the extra payload. The dash and interior components are where you'll see a lot of similarity with the Pilot.
